About the role

We have a new opportunity for a Senior Media and Communications Officer to join the Policy and Communications team. In this role, you will be responsible for establishing and maintaining strong media relations that drive positive media coverage, enhance brand awareness, attract new supporters, and uphold the charity’s reputation across all media platforms.

Working closely with colleagues across the charity, you will contribute to the development and delivery of impactful communications campaigns that effectively tell the story of our work, highlight our impact, and strengthen our brand.

About you

You will bring experience in managing media and communications projects designed to generate positive coverage, applying creative PR techniques across trade, local, and national media outlets.

About Breadwinners

Breadwinners is a multi-award-winning social enterprise and charity that supports young people seeking asylum and refugees to have their first work experience in the UK, selling organic baked goods. Since 2016, we have steadily grown, and we are looking for our first Senior Fundraising Manager to help us take the next step in our growth journey. Breadwinner's unique model provides work, training and personal mentors, so that young refugees can start and progress in their careers, using our platform as a stepping stone. We achieve this goal through three consecutive programmes, using our award-winning bread stalls in markets across London and Brighton and wholesale for socially-minded cafes and restaurants.

Over the last 7 years, we have made a significant impact in supporting over 744+ programme participants, with an impressive 93% reporting notable improvements in their overall well-being, 76% of our Breadwinners programme participants progress into work, further education or volunteering, and all this while minimising our Carbon Footprint by 20.5% through the sale of organic goods. This year, we are planning to double our impact with young refugees, with recently secured funding, new markets, and a focus on our wholesale model.

1. Risers programme: A two-month early intervention programme designed to provide structured work experience, training, and mentorship to newly arrived young people seeking asylum through our 18 stalls.

2. Breadwinners programme: The follow-up programme for refugees with the right to work, which involves working as a market stall manager for six months and earning the UK living wage.

3. Proofers programme: A progression programme that entails working remotely as part-time online sales representatives for six months, managing our wholesale delivery model.

We’re looking for someone passionate about making a real difference in the lives of young refugees and people seeking asylum. The ideal candidate will bring a mix of strategic thinking, hands-on fundraising experience, excellent communication skills and a strong sense of purpose. Responsibilities

Fundraising from Trusts and Foundations

• Identify and research new funding opportunities to build and maintain a strong pipeline of prospects.

• Lead on securing six-figure grants for the forthcoming year, working closely with a part-time Fundraising Manager and the Managing Director.

The Business Intelligence Reporting Lead will be the MS Society’s leading expert in Power BI and other reporting tools, playing a crucial role in enhancing the organisation’s data maturity and decision-making capabilities. They will be responsible for the design, development, and management of BI reports and dashboards across multiple BI tools, overseeing their full lifecycle from requirements gathering to deployment, maintenance, and optimisation. This includes providing best practice guidance for reporting within systems such as Dynamics and Assemble.

As the expert of BI reporting, they will ensure that staff have access to data, and that reporting mechanisms remains available, effective, and continuously developed to address new and existing challenges. This will involve complex data troubleshooting, including resolving process inefficiencies, data quality issues, and user knowledge gaps. They will work closely with other teams to investigate and resolve these issues.

The BI reporting Lead will contribute to the MS Society’s data, digital, and technical strategy, particularly within Microsoft Azure data architecture, and play a key role in shaping the strategic use of BI tools across the organisation. We’re aiming to improve our data use, integration and analytics to increase engagement, maximise impact and drive forward our strategic goals. With a key focus on effective and efficient operations, collaboration and continuous improvement in our Technology, Strategy and Business Intelligence teams.

To achieve this ambition, we’ve developed a new technology infrastructure which we are calling “Sage”.  We’re implementing new technology infrastructure this year (such as our new CRM system and suite of data tools – Microsoft Dynamics).

We will be taking a structured and phased approach to transitioning and embedding our new team structures, infrastructure and ways of working as part of Phase 2 of this Project.

The Business Intelligence Lead role is focused on enhancing the MS Society’s engagement and fundraising efforts through strategic data analysis and insights. This cross-organisational position focuses on managing data selections for marketing and communications, analysing customer journeys and engagement, and providing actionable recommendations to optimise engagement and fundraising strategies. By fostering data-driven decision-making and ensuring data integrity, this role will significantly contribute to our ability to effectively connect with and expand our supporter base, ultimately driving greater impact.

About the role

To promote a positive health, safety and wellbeing culture and be responsible for the provision of advice, guidance and support for staff and volunteers on all health, safety and wellbeing related matters, including the implementation and application of new and updated legislation, codes of practice, and safe working procedures.

To ensure that health and safety effectively contributes to the Trust’s strategic objectives, to embed best practice across the Trust’s operations, and drive compliance, identifying improvements, and creating a safe, sustainable workplace. The role requires a consultative, collaborative and pragmatic approach to finding solutions and appropriate measures to support the Trust’s day to day activities and improve standards.
