About the team
You'll be joining the Welfare Operations Directorate Project team, which is part of the wider implementation team responsible for a major organisational change programme.
In this role, you'll work directly to the Project Manager and alongside the Project Officer, ensuring seamless collaboration and communication to all stakeholders. You will also have regular contact with the Internal and Change Communications Manager in the Fundraising and Marketing Directorate, aligning your communication strategies with the broader internal communications strategy of SSAFA.

Role
In this exciting yet challenging role as Emotional Support Worker, you will provide valuable support to survivors of sexual abuse and their loved ones, through our helpline service. Last year, around 2,400 people contact us via this crucial service. Our helpline is a starting point for support, as men and boy’s take their first steps reaching out for help. We are also integral to the SurvivorsUK eco-system, providing support to client’s on our counselling waiting list and helping survivors navigate the different support options that are available.
We provide emotional support, information and signposting through a national helpline service, which is offered via Webchat, SMS, Email, and soon to be offered via WhatsApp and telephone. We are open from 10am to 8pm, 7 days per week.

Job Summary
The Finance Business Partner in Volunteering is responsible for providing the first line of support and assistance with the development of financial plans, analysis of the financial performance and forecasts of the Adult Volunteering area, in order to provide high quality business insight to both support and influence strategic decision making by St John’s management teams. They will be a key member of the Financial Planning and Insight team to ensure delivery of the annual three-year budgeting process, that is aligned to strategic operational plans. This will require regularly meeting with relevant stakeholders to critically review and challenge reported performance against agreed plans. This role will not only look after the Adult Volunteering part of the organisation but support some other overheads/areas within the organisation.
About You
You are a fully qualified professional accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA). Ideally you have gained experience in the charity sector and large complex organisations. You can demonstrate previous experience in a finance business partner role with a track record of supporting the end-to-end processes for in-year forecasts and annual budgets and three-year plans that are aligned to business strategy. You have significant experience in managing the day-to-day, monthly and annual production of management accounting processes. To be successful you can demonstrate excellent skills in influencing with confidence and gravitas to respectfully challenge. You are naturally curious with a genuine interest in change and technology. About the Role
- Deliver high quality business and financial analysis, with detailed outcomes and benefits, to identify and present coherent rationales for change, to support continued coordinated, consistent and effective delivery of services across St John
- Provide impactful and effective finance business partnering to St John Budget Holders, the Senior Management and Executive Teams
- Work with the relevant stakeholders, to timetable in the production of the charity’s monthly management accounts and the annual budgeting and in-year forecasting process that is the aligned to business plans

Job Description
The Senior Service Manager (SSM) provides strategic oversight of Redthread Services (currently working with 9 hospitals in London and Birmingham) providing line management to ensure high quality delivery that improves outcomes for children and young people and be successful in seeking opportunities for further growth. The SSM will work with the YPF SMT and will take a lead role in implementing our YPF strategy in this area, including taking and making opportunities to grow our services, and supporting new service implementation as need requires.
The role can be home based, but time spent in each of the services alongside travel across the UK will be required in order to support delivery and growth of services across the Hub. The ideal candidate will have experience of delivering and managing similar services and the right mix of leadership, passion and energy, and an innovative nature. A proven track record in engaging with positive relationships with commissioners and securing new business is essential. The role will involve promoting, connecting and building services in order to impact the lives of vulnerable young people with complex needs.
Duties and accountabilities are split into two core areas, management and development of Redthread service delivery, including direct management and coordination ensuring high performance that improves outcomes for children and young peopleand supporting implementation of the YPF growth strategy
- Line management of service managers and operational oversight of service contracts.
- Supporting the implementation of the YPF strategy, including making opportunities for organic and new growth. Work with Business Development and other business partners and engage Commissioners and other funders to develop our delivery models and to bid for services (organic growth and nationally).
- Supporting the implementation of the Clinical Governance policy and responsible for ensuring relevant services adhere to this guidance.
- Contribute to national stakeholder engagement plans and local, geographical influencer plans to promote our hospital based youth work offer and support growth.
- Ensure that staff and volunteers within services are engaged with Redthread’s vision and strategic plan, are motivated and understand their role and contribution to the wider organisation.
- Provide robust management and accountability for service budgets and in building budgets for new services working closely with Redthread’s finance business partner.
- Monitor and ensure that contractual commitments are met and that service performance is maximised; acting promptly to respond to and resolve performance and compliance issues. A core component of the role will be to ensure the confidence of our Commissioners including by assuring the quality of delivery, through Brilliant Basics audit, review, observation and ongoing service development.
- Ensure the provision of high quality reports for Redthread, commissioners and other strategic groups on the work of the services with clear evidence of quantitative and qualitative outputs – particularly signing off service commissioner reports / performance prior to external distribution.
- Ensure that services operate effective multi-agency working processes, such as referral, assessment and review and to ensure a high quality standard of lead professional, meeting chairpersonship and co-ordination from workers.
- Promote and support the participation of service users so that they are appropriately informed, consulted and involved in their own plans and the design and delivery of services.
- Be responsible for ensuring that all service activity is safe for all involved, to include adherence to Redthread’s health and safety policies including safeguarding, accidents, incident and injury reporting, fire safety and risk assessment. Review audit activity within services and work to ensure a consistent approach across services.

Qualifications
Professional qualification in a relevant discipline such as youth, community or management or demonstrable equivalent experience.
KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge and understanding of relevant current issues and research (including emerging trends youth violence work and associated areas of risk)
EXPERIENCE
- A proven track record of developing and managing projects in the public, private or voluntary sectors.
- Extensive experience of working with young people (11 – 18 years) and their families, identified as vulnerable or as having complex needs preferably within a community setting.
- Demonstrable experience of staff management including recruitment, induction, supervision and support.
- Proven track record in scoping and developing new business activity, including engaging and developing positive relationships with commissioners.
- Experience of preparing bids e.g service model development, articulating delivery within tenders - for significant projects/services and participation in the business development process e.g. responding to tender questions etc

Our dedicated and friendly team of nine staff are based in central Bath and we are seeking someone to join us in the Partnerships team to focus on supporting fundraising and stewarding high-net worth individuals, alongside supporting the wider work of the Partnerships Team to grow income from Trusts and Foundations.
Working with the Senior Partnerships Manager and Partnerships Assistant you will focus on stewarding, reporting to and securing income from our portfolio of existing high net worth individuals. Leading on the stewardship of a select portfolio of donors, supporting with mailings, appeals and thanking as well as developing prospects with the Individual Giving Team.
As part of a small energetic team, you will also support with specific projects and busy periods such as supporting the BBC Radio 4 Appeal and covering workloads during in-country visits to Ethiopia.
Ethiopiaid is a small charity that makes a big impact in Ethiopia. Our approach is simple, and it works. Since 1989, we have partnered with local NGOs in Ethiopia to provide the funding they need to put their programmes into action.
The projects we fundraise for range from maternal health, education, and disability to opportunities for women and girls, ending harmful practices, palliative care, health and emergency & recovery work. We support our partners to strengthen their capacity and deliver locally led programmes to transform lives at a grassroots level.
Main areas of responsibility, but not limited to:
Fundraising:
- Support income generation from a specific portfolio of high net worth individuals ‘Major Donors and Major Donor Prospects’
- Support delivery of the Major Donor mailing cycles and bespoke mailings including editing, data, printing and sorting.
- Ensure all donations are thanked and acknowledged in a professional and timely manner via relevant channels and by appropriate staff.
- Working to ensure online and offline communications include or exclude high net worth individuals in line with strategy and bespoke communication plans.
- Working with staff who manage our website to create and maintain bespoke landing pages and Partnership website pages
- Liaise with members of the wider team, specifically those working in Individual Giving to ensure; materials produced are always accurate & on brand and high net worth individuals receive any relevant communications produced by other teams
- Support wider fundraising activities and special appeals that involve high-net worth individuals
- Deliver on team KPIs and financial targets
Stewardship:
- Support Snr Partnerships Manager to ensure high net worth individuals bespoke Action plans are actioned and kept up to date.
- Support the stewardship of Major Donor Prospects and support development of donor pathways
- Lead on Major Donors Regular Giving stewardship:
- Working to uplift recurring gifts
- Secure new recurring gifts from Major Donors
- Coordinate a monthly regular giving membership newsletter Tibbir along with the Fundraising Officer (Individual Giving)
Support to the Partnerships Team
- Sharing partner project and budget updates as received
- Attend relevant Monitoring and Evaluation meetings (online)
- Support and provide cover during Partnerships Team members visiting Ethiopia
- Supporting the stewardship of family Trusts (managed by Partnerships Assistant – Trusts & Foundations focus)
- Prospect Research (managed by Partnerships Assistant – Trusts & Foundations focus)
- Potential to support out of office meetings and events
Administration:
- Ensure gifts received are coded correctly taking into account Gift Aid, appeals, specified funds.
- Ensure donors details are correctly recorded and updated
- Support compliance with GDPR and donor’s communication preferences.

The Role
