Southall Community Alliance is a charity working in Southall that is looking to recruit 
an experienced, part-time Human Rights Outreach Officer to oversee an exciting 
new 2.5 year project we are delivering to build understanding of human rights issues 
and law. 
The person we are looking for will be well organised, motivated and aware of the 
nuanced issues affecting diverse and disadvantaged communities. Their duties 
include arranging training, workshops and outreach visits to create awareness of 
human rights legislation and the practical impacts in areas with large, transient 
communities. 
The Outreach Worker will act as primary contact for the project and policy work and 
ensure good working relationships with a range of key contacts including policy and 
programmes partners.

Role Description

This position plays a pivotal part in GovAI's future success — if staff are distracted by bureaucracy or have a poor experience with our internal processes, our impact as an organization suffers. Your role is to help ensure that people operations runs smoothly and efficiently.

You'll execute people operations processes from onboarding through ongoing employee support, making sure that staff have an excellent experience and that all compliance requirements are met. You'll report to the People Ops Manager, and work closely with other members on the team.

Responsibilities will include:

• Executing onboarding and offboarding processes:
  • You'll directly manage onboarding for new staff, visiting researchers, and contractors, ensuring they have everything they need and know how to navigate GovAI effectively.
  • You'll handle offboarding processes, ensuring smooth transitions when staff depart.
• Managing ongoing people operations workflows:
  • You'll handle benefits administration, reimbursements, and other routine people ops tasks efficiently.
  • You'll track and ensure compliance with US and UK employment law requirements, including training requirements, policy updates, and statutory obligations.
  • You'll maintain employee records and ensure data accuracy in our systems.
• Supporting staff and communicating with employees:

Salary and Location

This position is full-time. Our offices are located in London, UK, and we strongly prefer team members to be based here, but are open to individuals who would need to work remotely in exceptional cases. We are able to sponsor UK visas.

The People Ops Associate will be compensated in line with our salary principles. As such, the salary for this role will depend on the successful applicant's experience, but we expect the range to be between £66,000 (~$88,000) and £80,000 (~$108,000) if based in London. In rare cases where salary considerations would prevent a candidate from accepting an offer, there may also be some flexibility in compensation.

People Systems and Reporting Specialist

The purpose of the People Team in delivering the organisations goals is to empower our colleagues to thrive by shaping exceptional experiences and culture that unlocks their potential — so ARUK can realise it's vision of a world free from the fear, harm and heartbreak of dementia.

To be able to deliver this the People Function is going through an exciting transformation and one of the key enablers of this is automation and data analytics. This role will support the People Services team in setting up our lifecycle and operational processes by ensuring data accuracy and reliable system performance. Our aim is to make our processes as smooth and automated as possible and ensure that we are optimising the functionality of our existing systems and driving continuous improvement through automation.

The role will also be key in setting up more streamlined and automated reporting of people metrics and KPI’s to ensure that the team and leaders have the insight at the right time to enable decisions. In doing so the role will work closely with the People Experience Partner to ensure that we are combining all data sources to present a holistic view of our workforce.

The post holder is part of a small team at ARUK and from time to time may need to support other colleagues to ensure smooth critical service delivery to the organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess and improve functionality in the HR system (Cascade) to ensure that all functionality around data capture, formulas, workflows and reporting for lifecycle events and payroll are being maximised and improve where there is opportunity.

• Work closely with the People Services Manager, Cascade team and payroll processing service to maximise payroll automation

• Configure and develop the HR systems in place to meet evolving business requirements and improve user experience.

• Ensure that all data recorded in the system is accurate and conduct regular audits.

• Review, reduce and automate all manual people processes and forms, either using Cascade, Power Apps or MS Forms in line with the ARUK technology landscape

• Develop Power BI dashboard for People metrics and KPI’s

• Work closely with the People Experience Partner to create regular people insight reporting

• Maintain core people metrics and ensure they are accessible for reporting and analysis.

• Work collaboratively with the Finance Team and deliver prompt and accurate headcount reporting for use in the monthly KPIs.

• Deliver timely insights to support workforce planning, organisational design, compensation strategies, and resource utilisation.

• Design dashboards and visualisations to communicate trends and support People & Culture initiatives.

• Improve analytical capabilities within the broader team by sharing skills through the provision of guidance and training as needed.

Knowledge, skills and experience needed:

· Extensive experience in HR system optimisation (Cascade used by People Team), with proven ability to configure, customise and integrate HRIS systems to meet evolving organisational needs.

· Advanced data analysis and reporting expertise, including the ability to manipulate large, complex datasets, apply data validation techniques, and deliver actionable insights through dashboards and visualisations.

· Demonstrated success in process automation and workflow optimisation, reducing manual effort and improving data accuracy across the employee lifecycle.

· Knowledge of GDPR and data governance principles as applicable with sensitive data.

· Proficiency in HR data tools and technologies, including advanced Excel (pivot tables, macros), SQL for data extraction, and experience with BI tools for predictive analytics.

· Evidence of a continuous improvement mindset, demonstrated through successful projects that have improved system functionality, reporting capability, and user experience.

As part of our Agile ways of working you will be required to work approximately 2 days a week from the office, which is subject to the requirements of the role and the business needs. Flexibility on where you work can be split between working from home and our office.

About Depaul UK

In the 1980s, high unemployment and steep inflation was contributing to a shocking rise in youth homelessness across London. Thousands of young people were sleeping rough every night, with many areas notoriously dubbed “cardboard cities” due to the visible rise in street homelessness. Appalled by the scenes playing out across the capital, a group of people came together to tackle the challenge head on. Led by Cardinal Basil Hume and Mark McGreevy OBE, in 1989 Depaul UK was born.

What began as a single housing project in North London soon expanded across London, Greater Manchester and the North East of England. Today, Depaul UK provides accommodation, prevention and support services to thousands of marginalised young people across the UK each year.

As our name suggests, the work of Depaul UK has been inspired by St. Vincent de Paul – a man who devoted his life to helping vast numbers of people throughout the 17th century. St. Vincent de Paul’s belief in the intrinsic worth of all people and his commitment to taking bold action remain central to our values today. We are seeking an experienced and diligent HR Administrator to provide HR admin support to the organisation. You will be responsible for all HR administration, including the production of HR paperwork, and serve as the day-to-day generalist HR contact for all employees. We do not currently have HR software, so reviewing our requirements in this area would be one of your responsibilities. 

This is part-time fixed-term position, as we review the organisation’s needs in this area, and will be subject to review and possible extension at the end of six months.

As a small charity (c. 35 staff including part-time and casual workers), the role will require balancing practical tasks with more senior HR responsibilities. You'll be based in the office (a lovely rural setting near Twyford, Reading) for at least two days per week and, being situated within the rehabilitation centre, you will have daily contact with those men whom you are helping. They inspire and motivate us just as much as we seek to encourage and support them.

Role purpose

Variety, the Children’s Charity is looking for a Head of People and Culture to lead and deliver all aspects of the charity’s people strategy. Part of the Operations Team, this is an exciting role combining strategic leadership with hands-on operational HR management. The postholder will be experienced in driving forward new strategies, ensuring Variety has robust, compliant and people centered practices in place. This role will support a positive, inclusive, and high-performing culture which is aligned to Variety’s mission and values.

This is a new role at Variety during an exciting time as we develop and launch a new three-year strategy later this year and invest in our people and culture. The staff team at Variety has grown over the last year, reflecting the charity’s ambitious strategy to double charitable expenditure over the next three years. We are at an exciting point to recruit an experienced HR professional to continue our growth, developing our people while strengthening our collaborative culture, champion wellbeing, and leading Equity, Diversity and Inclusion.

The Head of People and Culture will work with the CEO and Senior Management Team and contribute to strategic decisions at Variety. There is a separate support service which is outsourced for complex or specialist HR matters if required. Variety is a small, dedicated team of 30 staff, and this role reports to the CEO with a close working relationship with the Director of Finance and Operations.

Key responsibilities
Strategy and Performance
Building organisational capacity is one of the pillars of our three-year strategy which is in development. Variety is investing in recruitment, and retention of a high-performing workforce with harmonised contracts and policies.

This role will:

• Develop and implement a People and Culture Strategy aligned with Variety’s new three-year organisational strategy
• Lead workforce planning and organisational development
• Implement and oversee a clear and consistent performance managementframework
• Mange safe and inclusive recruitment processes
• Lead the annual appraisal process and support probation reviews for new staff
• Provide regular reporting to the CEO for Trustee meetings on people metrics and any risks to the people strategy
• Manage the outsourced HR provider to Variety

HR operations and recruitment

• Oversee and directly manage recruitment, onboarding, probation, performance management and exit processes at Variety
• Develop and support the investment in recruitment and retention of high-performing team members
• Manage the onboarding process for new staff, sending offer letters, taking up references and inductions, ensuring a good start at Variety
• Manage employee relations cases (if they arise)
• Maintain and update the staff handbook, HR policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with UK employment law
• Introduce and manage an improved HR portal which will improve Variety’s HR function
• Manage the HR budget and the annual salary review process with the Director of Finance
• Support managers and staff in all aspects of people management
• Oversee payroll and benefits management (if applicable)
• Ensure staff have updated contracts and keep HR policies up to date
• Support managers in people management
• Advise the CEO and Senior Management Team on people-related risks
• Maintain accurate HR records in accordance with GDPR
• Carry out DBS checks for staff and volunteers

Culture and wellbeing

• Work with the Senior Management Team on cultural development and values-led behaviours across Variety
• Lead the People Strategy at Variety to foster a positive working environment, where people feel engaged, supported and happy at work
• Lead on Variety’s learning and development programme for all staff
• Promote a culture of feedback and continuous improvement

Person specification
Essential

• CIPD Level 7 qualified (or equivalent experience)
• Significant experience in a senior HR/People role, ideally within the charity or not-for-profit sector
• Strong working knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice
• Experience managing employee relations cases independently
• Experience advising Senior Management Teams and Trustee boards
• Ability to operate strategically while delivering operational HR hands-on
• High level of discretion and confidentiality

Desirable

• Experience working as a standalone HR lead
• Experience working in a small or medium-sized organisations
• Knowledge of safeguarding requirements for the charity sector
• Experience implementing HR systems and improving processes

Role scope and considerations
As this is a standalone, part-time position please consider:

• Clear prioritisation will be essential

• Administrative efficiency (templates, HR systems, automation) will be important to manage workload
• The role may include line management in the future

Your role

The People and Culture Lead will be working closely with the Head of People and Culture to ensure recruitment, onboarding, employee reward, employment relations, learning and development and projects serve the long-term goals of CMS.

Job Purpose

To lead and embed a consistent, high-quality people experience for the organisation’s volunteer workforce across the full lifecycle.

This role is responsible for ensuring volunteers are recruited, inducted, supported through change, and managed in line with organisational policies, values and strategy, while enabling operational teams to lead volunteers day-to-day within their departments.

Volunteer Lifecycle

· Own and manage the end-to-end volunteer lifecycle framework.

· Design, maintain and continuously improve volunteer policies, procedures and guidance.

Recruitment, Onboarding & Induction

· Support the volunteer recruitment processes.

Volunteer Training and Development

· Design and oversee a structured volunteer training framework aligned to organisational values, policies and role requirements.

· Embed ongoing development opportunities to support engagement, retention and succession.

· Enable managers to deliver training locally through guidance and best practice.

About You — Skills & Experience

• Experience in a People or Volunteer Management with responsibility for volunteer or workforce lifecycle activity
• Strong knowledge of recruitment, onboarding and development processes and how to create consistent people experiences
