Closing date: 30 September 2026.
Interview date: 8 or 9 October 2026.
We are an equal opportunities and a disability confident employer and welcome applications from all suitably qualified persons regardless of their race, sex, disability, religion/belief, sexual orientation or age.
You’ll be at the helm of a busy, welcoming centre that brings residential stays, day visits, camping and outdoor activities to guiding groups, schools, youth groups, corporate teams, families and friends. That variety is part of what makes the role so rewarding. No two days look the same, and that’s exactly the point.
This is a senior role with real scope and real responsibility. You’ll lead a team, set the tone for high standards across the site, manage the practical realities of running a working centre, and help shape its future direction in line with Girlguiding Anglia’s values and ambitions. You’ll have the chance to think strategically about where the centre goes next while staying hands on with the day to day running that keeps a place like Hautbois thriving.
We’re after someone positive, proactive and organised, who leads with warmth as much as with structure. You’ll need to be comfortable holding multiple priorities at once, calm under pressure, and genuinely motivated by creating great experiences for the people who come through the centre’s doors. If you enjoy variety, thrive on responsibility and want your work to have a visible, lasting impact, this role offers all of that in abundance.
The role is based at Hautbois, right in the Norfolk countryside. Flexible working may be possible where it suits the business, though some evenings and weekends will be part of the job given the nature of a residential site. The centre isn’t easily reached by public transport, so a car and full driving licence are essential for commuting and the occasional meeting further afield.
In return, you’ll get free parking, office drinks and snacks, a holiday allowance that grows with your length of service, and modern IT and working facilities to support you in the role.
This role might also suit candidates with backgrounds as an activities manager, camp manager, adventure manager, outdoor learning manager or residential centre manager.
The client requests no contact from agencies or media sales.
Help turn local generosity into life-changing support for people when they need it most.
At Braintree Area Foodbank, we believe no one in our community should have to face hunger or hardship alone.
We provide emergency food and practical support to individuals and families in crisis, while working towards longer-term solutions to poverty. Over recent years, we have increasingly focused on providing more in-depth support, helping people maximise their income, address the challenges they face and create the conditions to move forward.
Now, we are looking for a proactive and driven Fundraising Manager to help us build a sustainable future.
Please note that interviews will take place on the 15th of October 2026. We will be actively shortlisting and so will get in touch as soon as possible about inviting you to interview.
The role
This is an exciting opportunity to shape and grow our fundraising function. You will develop income from businesses, community organisations and individuals, building relationships that help turn local generosity into meaningful, long-term support.
You will have the freedom to identify opportunities, develop new ideas and build fundraising activity from a relatively blank slate. While we already have an established base of supporters and fundraising materials, there is significant scope to develop new relationships, improve supporter engagement and create sustainable sources of unrestricted income.
Working closely with the Charity Manager, staff and Trustees, you will play a key role in building a fundraising function capable of making a significant contribution towards the foodbank's future.
Fundraising Manager
Location: Braintree, Essex (hybrid working considered)
Contract: 2-year fixed term, part-time, 25 hours per week, with scope to increase in future
Salary: £18,000–£20,000 per year (£27,000–£30,000 FTE)
Annual Leave: 33 days including bank holidays (F.T.E)
What you'll be doing
This job is for you if...
Experience of charity fundraising, corporate partnerships, individual giving, community fundraising or supporter databases would be an advantage, but we welcome applications from people with transferable experience from other sectors.
About us
Braintree Area Foodbank is a charity founded on Christian principles. Not every member of our team is a Christian, but we share a commitment to the values that underpin our work and welcome applications from people who do the same.
We believe that all people are created equal and are committed to creating an inclusive workplace where people are treated fairly and with respect.
Why join us?
This is an opportunity to make a real difference locally while building something with long-term potential. You won't simply be maintaining an existing fundraising programme, you'll have the opportunity to shape it, grow it and help create a more sustainable future for a charity supporting thousands of people across our community.
Our mission is the prevention and relief of poverty in the Braintree District via emergency food, essentials and wrap around support

Diversity is one of our core values as an organisation and we are committed to creating an inclusive working environment where diversity is valued and there is equality of opportunity. We also recognise that the climate and ecological crisis disproportionately impacts minority and/or marginalised communities – yet these voices are largely underrepresented in the sector. If the environmental movement is to succeed in creating a greener future that supports society as a whole, we need diverse voices at the heart of our programmes. The Foundation for Jewish Heritage is seeking to engage an experienced Learning and Engagement Consultant to support their project Preserving Jewish Heritage, Promoting the Hidden Jewish Story in the year-long Development Phase of its project and for the first six months (of a five-year programme) of the Delivery Phase of the project. The Consultant will support and advise the Synagogues in this first pilot on activities/outreach and education, ultimately creating a framework for future use as a core part of this programme. The role will report to the Project Development Officer. The Project Development Officer is currently being recruited and will be responsible for the set up and day to day running of the project.
The Foundation’s work to date has demonstrated a significant gap in provision for historic synagogues. There is a clear need for a more defined and comprehensive support function for the UK synagogues sector: one that offers a professional, accessible and user-friendly service; guides and empowers synagogue communities; helps ensure synagogue buildings are well maintained, resilient and future-proofed, including in response to the climate emergency; and supports synagogues to engage more effectively with wider society. This project aims to address that gap.
The Delivery Phase project is subject to a successful funding application to NLHF and there will be a break clause between the Development and Delivery Phases.
