Job description

About The Role

Place2Be is seeking an experienced and reflective Postgraduate Tutor to join our training team, with a particular focus on infant and child observation. The post‑holder will contribute to the delivery and development of our highly regarded BACP‑accredited Postgraduate Diploma programme, run in partnership with the University of East London. The role involves teaching, assessment and student support at postgraduate level, ensuring high‑quality learning experiences that reflect best practice in school‑based counselling, safeguarding, and anti‑oppressive practice.

We create a safe place in schools where children and young people can open up without pressure or stigma, allowing our highly skilled and diverse counsellors to reach children, young people and their families who need us.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare and deliver infant and child observation seminars and postgraduate teaching, both in person and online
  • Deliver lectures, facilitate seminars, skills groups and tutorials at Level 7
  • Assess written work and vivas, providing high‑quality formative and summative feedback
  • Offer one‑to‑one tutorial support to trainees across the programme
  • Ensure safeguarding, health and safety responsibilities are upheld during training delivery
  • Contribute to student recruitment, interviews and selection processes
  • Support course development, quality assurance, standardisation and accreditation requirements
  • Attend meetings, supervision and external moderation as required
  • Promote Place2Be’s clinical and training work internally and externally

What You Will Need

  • A postgraduate qualification (MA/Postgraduate Diploma) in counselling or psychotherapy
  •  At least 2 years post qualification experience of clinical counselling work with children and young people 
  • Professional accreditation or registration (BACP accredited, or UKCP/HCPC registered)
  • Direct experience of both infant and child observation supported by a classroom experience/ seminar learning experience
