Mind in Croydon is seeking a compassionate, proactive and community-focused Social Networking Caseworker to support adults experiencing severe and enduring mental health challenges to build confidence, strengthen social networks and engage in meaningful community activities.

This is a person-centred, recovery-focused role working with a caseload of up to 35 individuals. You will support people to identify their goals, access mainstream opportunities such as education, physical activity, cultural groups and volunteering, and gradually reduce reliance on statutory services where appropriate.

The role combines direct one-to-one support, partnership working with mental health professionals and community organisations, and the development of group activities at Fairfield House, Croydon. You will play a key role in enabling people to rebuild independence, confidence and community connections.

This post requires flexibility to meet the needs of the service, which may include occasional weekend work, as part of the rota. Time off in lieu (TOIL) will be provided where additional hours are worked, and there is no routine expectation of frequent out-of-hours working.

Background

Buckinghamshire has a fast-growing older population who are the heart and soul of our communities – for example as employers, workers, volunteers, mentors, carers and child-minders. They help make our worlds go round. But when the challenges of older age feel overwhelming, and someone’s own world shrinks, Age UK Bucks is there to support them. Based in Aylesbury and working across the county, our services support older residents to maintain their independence and well-being, especially when times are difficult, helping local older people age batter and access support they deserve.

We have grown as an organisation recently, expanding our services and increasing staff numbers and income as we endeavour to meet the needs of older people in the county, who are struggling to cope with the cost-of-living crisis, after the lasting impact of the pandemic.
 

The Head of Charitable Services is a new role and will play a pivotal part in leading this growth and supporting and developing the teams and culture that deliver them. Alongside this, a key priority is person-centred support and empowerment, and a focus on staff, volunteer and client safety and safeguarding, and skills development. Job purpose
Lead services and teams that support, champion and empower older Bucks residents to meet the many challenges and opportunities of ageing, through charitable services that have high impact and that are sustainably funded, working with all communities in Bucks and through partner collaboration.

The role

Will oversee the development and delivery of high quality, person-centred, compassionate and effective support and services for older people across Bucks that has demonstrable impact and quality - building community connection and championing older people’s needs and opportunities. You will help shape the charity’s charitable approach, work on developing new services, funded from grant applications and community collaboration, and build cases for support and demonstrable impact case studies. Reporting to the CEO, you will work closely with the Head of Commercial Services and Development, dovetailing referral pathways and aligning practice and processes.
 

Key tasks and responsibilities

• Meet the needs of older Bucks residents through effective, high quality, safe and compassionate support and services that can demonstrate impact and are sustainable financially, meeting appropriate quality standards where required
• Develop our people and volunteers, including supporting our safeguarding lead on best practice supervision, risk assessment and mitigation, case work guidance, safeguarding, line management and people development
• Work with SLT to support our Trustee Board, Board Officers and Sub-Committees to enable them to guide and steward the charity appropriately, including developing reports and information/KPIs
• Develop and deliver financially sustainable services, planning and managing income and costs in line with strategy and budgets, working with the Finance leadership and SLT
• Help develop and transform our data collection and story-telling, enabling the organisation to create and share compelling and inspiring impact and outcome reports for stakeholders 
• Support the maintenance and development of our website and social media strategy and assets to support our work and programmes
• Optimise and raise awareness of our services and impact, through developing effective outreach and presentations to key stakeholders, groups, communities and funders
• Act as a champion of older people and an Age Friendly Bucks, representing the charity at key forums, Boards and activities in order to achieve our mission and strategic goals, bringing the voice and needs of older people to the fore.

The South East Gambling Harms Partnership is a consortium of regional Citizens Advice offices that include: Wokingham, Reading, West Berkshire and East Berkshire offices in Berkshire and Hart, Rushmore, Basingstoke and Tadley in North Hampshire. This is a high-profile initiative funded by the Office for Health Improvement and Disparities (OHID) to tackle gambling harms through the collaboration of the South East Gambling Harms Partnership. 

The Role

We are looking for a strategically-minded Regional Service Manager to lead the South East Gambling Harms Partnership. You will be the architect of our strategic engagement, building trusted partnerships with NHS commissioners and local authorities to ensure gambling harms are a priority in local health responses. You will lead a dedicated team of Training Leads and Prevention Workers, fostering a culture of accountability and innovation, building strong links with VCSE partners and the wider community.

• Strategic Leadership & Influence: Act as the lead advocate for the partnership, engaging with NHS and Local Authority commissioners to ensure gambling harm prevention is embedded into local health strategies and regional policies.

• Partnership Management: Provide cohesive leadership for a collaboration of eight Citizens Advice offices, ensuring all locations are aligned, accountable, and integrating gambling screening into daily practice.

• Operational Oversight: Lead the project team (Data Officer, Training Leads, and Prevention Workers) to meet ambitious targets, while managing budgets, risks, and funder reporting.

• Stakeholder Engagement: Foster "trusted partner" relationships with grassroots organisations and wider community sectors to reach high-risk groups, including young people, veterans, minority communities and affected others.

We are searching for a Peer Support Worker to join our mental health services. The role is a peer support worker, who use own lived experience of mental health difficulties to support others on their recovery journey through the facilitation of group based, peer support.

Our peer support and recovery services are a key element of the services we offer, and we are looking for someone who can use their own lived experiences to provide support to help individuals achieve their goals.

Service Delivery

• Facilitate Peer Support groups and ensure outcomes which support individuals with mental health and wellbeing needs across Luton in line with Mind BLMK’s agreed peer support model and service’s KPIs and contract requirements.
• Support the Service Manager, when required, by assessing individual’s suitability for attending the peer support service in the line with the organisations Access to Services process.
• Signpost individuals to wider services and encourage and support people to access local activities and community services.
• Use own lived experience of mental health challenges to show hope, empathy and understanding in a safe space where people feel accepted. Share ideas and approaches that support the improvement of mental health and wellbeing and embed this in working practices as a peer.

• Encourage and support client engagement with Mind BLMK through the influence and participation process, Guarantor Membership, and training opportunities.

The successful candidate will have an understanding the wellbeing needs of and working with people with mental health needs, including those from culturally diverse communities, personal lived experience of mental health difficulties and recovery and the interpersonal skills required to maintain both working relationships with a wide range of people and appropriate peer relationships with service users.

This post specifically will include a focus on domestic violence, sexual exploitation, sexual violence and housing. Working within a harm reduction ethos prioritising women’s safety and wellbeing, the intensive personalized supported will help women to access other services making appropriate referrals for women who wish to make changes, including exiting/transitioning out of sex work. You will be responsible for ensuring that women with varying needs are supported effectively throughout their pathway of support with Basis and partners, advocating for and with the women you are working with including where necessary challenging stigma and judgement women face.

Youth Advice Centre (YAC) offers information, support and guidance to young people (13-25) and their families in Brighton and Hove. · To engage with local authorities, health providers and other agencies, creating and maintaining working relationships to maximise the opportunities available to clients

· To liaise with colleges, training agencies, employers to help clients gain access to education, find work or maintain their benefit entitlement 

· To lead on client activities to help them gain practical life skills

· To support clients by providing advice on housing, welfare benefits, rent deposits and household goods via a variety of schemes

· To support clients to understand harm reduction approaches to keep them safe and well

· To carry out housing management duties such as collecting service charges at various locations

Key responsibilities:

• Hold a caseload of their own and co-work with a team working with domestic abuse survivors and their families with specific housing-related support needs, providing support and guidance related to their housing/homelessness needs and to their experiences of DVA.

• She will implement and coordinate the Sanctuary Scheme within Brighton and Hove to provide security options to make their homes safe with an Outreach / Sanctuary case load.

We are currently advertising for a Service Manager in the Swindon area. The role will involve supporting the Safehouse Project Manager in overseeing services for survivors of modern slavery and human trafficking.

In the role you will:

• To oversee the day-today operations of the safehouse accommodation and services for potential victims of modern slavery in the service and their dependents
• You will work with the Modern Slavery Case Workers to supervise their production of support plans, updating records accurately and reporting key changes. This also includes preparing the client for exit, repatriation and any other resettlement plans.

What we are looking for:

• Strong knowledge of Health & Safety, safeguarding, and quality frameworks.
• Excellent communication, organisational, and IT skills.
• Experience of working with vulnerable adults, the ability to work within a residential or community setting with non-UK residents

This service is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week which means you must be willing to work flexibly, including evenings, weekends and bank holidays. You will also be required to be part of an on call rota and able to get to and from the project via public transport or your own car if it is necessary to attend the project whilst on call.

Medaille Trust is one of the leading providers of support to survivors of modern slavery and human trafficking in the UK. We are working to provide refuge and freedom for survivors and fighting to see slavery in all its forms become a thing of the past. The need for this work has never been higher, there are more than 50 million estimated victims of modern slavery worldwide, and over 120,000 potential victims in the UK.

We operate ten safe houses and five outreach hubs, staffed round the clock by specialist staff, working with more than 600 men, women and dependent children each year. We work to raise awareness in the UK and to provide preventive work in source countries. Our Pursue work helps survivors to engage with police and within the legal system to seek justice and to secure convictions against their perpetrators.

LGBTQ+ Drug and Alcohol Recovery Worker (Fast Track Cities HIV Reengagement Project)

London Friend’s Antidote service provides high quality drug & alcohol psycho-social treatment and support to LGBTQ+ people utilising harm reduction & abstinence-based methods.  Antidote is a part of London Friend which aims to support and promote health & wellbeing for LGBTQ+ people living in the London area.

We deliver services across London, including in partnership with Local Authority-based drug and alcohol treatment services and sexual health clinics.

Recovery support workers provide support to LGBTQ+ people experiencing difficulties with drug or alcohol use, including supporting those engaged in chemsex, and incorporating HIV prevention initiatives and sexual health support. They will hold a caseload of clients and be responsible for their assessment, case planning, review, and ongoing care. They will provide outreach to LGBTQ+ people in community settings including local sexual health clinics.

This post is funded via the London Fast Track Cities Initiative which seeks to end HIV transmission. It is a part of two multi-area, multi-disciplinary projects aiming to reengage people living with HIV who have dropped out of treatment and care. The postholder will work with teams in North West and South London including NHS HIV clinics and a range of voluntary sector stakeholders. The postholder will proactively engage identified clients, mostly gay, bisexual and other men who have sex with men (GBMSM) where drug alcohol or chemsex have been barriers to sustaining HIV treatment and care.

The postholder will also assist with the delivery of Antidote’s services, including our walk-in clinics and group programmes.

The post-holder will take an active anti-discriminatory, anti-racism and trans-inclusive approach around all areas of work and will be an active member of the broader Antidote and London Friend teams and support with the aims & objectives of the whole service.

This is initially offered as a fixed-term contract to 31st March 2027, although it is anticipated that funding will be provided for two further years. Any extension will be subject to future funding being confirmed.

Due to the nature of the work and in order to provide appropriate access for the client group the role requires regular evening work and occasional weekend working and travel across Greater London.

About the Role

The role involves managing a one-to-one client caseload while contributing to the delivery of Social Support Groups. Through personalised support, the post holder will offer emotional support and empower individuals to focus on what matters most to them, working towards meaningful and achievable changes in in their lives.

The Social Support service provides tailored, personalised support based on each individual needs.  This includes using a range of tools and techniques to help people improve areas of their life they may be struggling with.  Grounded in the values of Hope, Courage, Togetherness and Responsiveness, the service aims to empower individuals on their journey towards improved wellbeing.

As a Peer Support Worker you will:

• Offer 1-1 support in St Albans, Hatfield and Stevenage, and within other HMN Wellbeing Centres across the County depending on client need and waiting lists
• Deliver Social Support Groups within our Wellbeing Centres
• Work with clients to identify their individual needs and support them through a personalised, person-centred approach
• Support clients in a variety of settings, including within the community, their home, and our Wellbeing Centres
• Play an integral role in embedding HMN’s values through our 1-1 and group support
• Play a key part in the development and delivery of our groups
• Ensure the consistent delivery of a high quality, responsive service that promotes wellbeing and positive outcomes for clients

The successful candidate will have significant proven knowledge of models and services to meet the needs of adults with mental health needs and of delivering mental health services within a health and social care setting as well as an understanding of the relationship between mental health and social issues and how these issues may impact on physical, mental and emotional wellbeing.
