About this role 

This is an exciting opportunity for an Individual Giving and Legacy Assistant to join the Charity team here at Alder Hey, the UK’s busiest Children’s Hospital.

This role sits within the Individual Giving and Legacy team which includes an Individual Giving Fundraiser and a Legacy and In Memory Fundraiser. The role also works closely with colleagues across the community, marketing and finance teams to deliver supporter journeys, website content, and the smooth running of fundraising campaigns.

The post-holder supports the generation of income and delivers an excellent supporter experience. They ensure supporters and enquirers receive a prompt, warm, and appropriate response at every stage of their journey with the Alder Hey Children's Charity. 

The role is responsible for maintaining accurate supporter records on the Charity's CRM system (Salesforce), helping supporter administration (including Gift Aid, tribute pages, and regular giving processes), and assisting with the coordination of legacy enquiries, pledgers, and the free Will Writing service.  
 

Key Responsibilities will include: 

Administration, Processes and Data 

• Ensure supporter records are kept accurate and up to date on the charity's CRM (Salesforce). 

• Complete supporter administrative processes such as tracking and take actions on the cancelation of regular donations/lottery, setting up of tribute pages, and Gift Aid administration. 

• Provide administration support for the management of legacy enquirers, pledgers and actively track the progress of live legacy cases. 

• Provide administration support for the management of the free Will Writing service. 

• To help ensure pages on the charity’s website are kept up to date and work with the wider team to enhance those pages. 

• Monitor marketing resources, such as leaflets, to ensure stock levels are maintained. 

• Diary management, minute taking and meeting organisation. 

Stewardship 

• Deal with incoming enquires prioritising, re-directing, or responding in a timely, sensitive and appropriate manner. 

• Help deliver exceptional supporter care, ensuring that everyone who responds to the Charity's campaigns and appeals receives a warm, timely and meaningful thank you, helping to build long-term relationships with Alder Hey Children's Charity. 

• Process and action established supporter journey and activities across a variety of programmes. 

• Support the development and enhancement of supporter journeys. 

• Support the planning and delivery of all campaigns and activities, helping to inspire supporters to make a difference. 

• Assist with the arrangements for events to ensure that all supporters receive outstanding stewardship to establish long term commitment to the charity.

In April 2025, the charity adopted a four-day working week policy. Staff previously working 37.5 hours now work 30 hours across four days, maintaining full pay while supporting a better work-life balance.

Your role

• Although based in Scotland, the role is expected to spend around 50% of its time delivering Scotland-specific activities, with the remaining 50% supporting wider Marketing & Visitor Experience Lead activities across the UK and Ireland, responding to business needs and priorities.

About you

You’ll have a strong background in either a marketing or visitor experience development role; you’ll get to know your audiences, whether they are supporters, volunteers or supporters of the future and keep them front of mind when developing content across both physical experiences and campaigns.

Your energy and creative approach will motivate you to achieve targets and overcome barriers. You’ll be flexible and willing to travel to achieve results and work across the wider engagement team.

To be considered as the Marketing and Visitor Experience Lead, you will need:

• Significant achievements in engaging supporters, volunteers or the public in order to generate funds, increase engagement or change behaviour.
• A proven track record in the areas of marketing campaign and/or visitor experience.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including experience of audience insights, brand relevancy and targeted content creation.
• People leadership skills, including high levels of emotional intelligence and problem-solving skills.
• Experience of influencing at all levels and working collaboratively with others to lead and embed change and improvements.

This role combines home-based working with a significant level of travel across Scotland and to other RNLI locations throughout the UK and Ireland, and occasional travel to our RNLI Support Centre in Poole.

Job Specification

The Role:

Reporting to the Head of Philanthropy, the Philanthropy Manager is responsible for developing and managing individual giving revenue streams (inclusive of membership), alongside their own portfolio of higher-level supporters and legacy donors, working alongside the Head of Philanthropy to shape and implement the overall strategy. The Philanthropy Manager collaborates closely within the Philanthropy team, across the Development Department, and with colleagues in the Audiences Department to design and implement a cohesive, exceptional supporter experience for members and individual supporters of the Festival. The Philanthropy team is a close-knit team, thriving in a fast-paced environment, which requires flexibility, excellent organisation and time-management, and strong communication skills.

Performance Indicators and Deliverables 

· A fundraising strategy for membership and individual giving (mid-level, online, US-based donors, and legacy) is delivered successfully and meets or exceeds annual income targets.

· Successfully engaging with donors and prospects in the Philanthropy Manager’s portfolio to move donors & prospects through the fundraising cycle, resulting in new, renewed, and upgraded giving.

· The Membership scheme and US giving scheme are managed appropriately, adhering to legal and regulatory requirements, monitored and reported on regularly, and are delivered in collaboration with colleagues across the organisation to ensure an exceptional and consistent donor experience.

· The Festival’s gift aid claim is submitted successfully each year, with underlying data and tracking mechanisms in place and audited regularly for accuracy.

· Prospects are identified proactively, organised and assigned strategically, engaged consistently, and moved through the fundraising cycle to ensure a healthy pipeline of future supporters.

For someone who has spent years moving between the streets, temporary accommodation and services that have not worked for them, having a home of their own can be life changing. But getting the keys is only the beginning. As our Specialist Housing First Worker in Redbridge, you’ll provide the intensive, persistent and highly personalised support people need to make that home feel safe, sustainable and genuinely theirs.

Housing First does things differently. You’ll work alongside people who have experienced repeated homelessness and multiple disadvantage, including people who may be mistrustful of services or have found traditional approaches difficult to engage with. Rather than expecting people to change before they can access housing, you’ll start from the belief that everyone has a right to a home. You’ll build relationships over time, work creatively around barriers and use active engagement and harm reduction approaches to support people towards the goals that matter to them.

Your work will stretch across housing, health, benefits, safeguarding and wider support. You’ll help people prepare for and settle into their accommodation, navigate rent and benefits, manage risks and build greater independence within their community. Just as importantly, you’ll bring together the professionals around each person, advocate firmly when systems get in the way and keep looking for another route when the obvious one has failed. This is a role that calls for sound judgement, patience and real tenacity: knowing when to challenge, when to adapt and how to remain alongside someone through setbacks as well as progress.

You’ll be joining a team committed to delivering Housing First with integrity and giving practitioners the flexibility to respond to people as individuals. The Head of Youth Programmes sits in our Senior Leadership Team and holds overall operational responsibility for our frontline youth programmes across three pillars: Prevention, Intervention and Healing. Pause works with women who have experienced - or are at risk of experiencing - repeated pregnancies that result in children needing to be removed from their care.

Through an intense programme of support, it aims to break this cycle and give women the opportunity to reflect, tackle destructive patterns of behaviour and to develop new skills and responses that can help them create a more positive future. In doing so, we aim to prevent the damaging consequences of the repeated removals of children into care.

 As a Pause Practitioner, you will be responsible for implementing a range of interventions and support measures as part of an integrated package of health, therapeutic and social support. This will be in the form of one to one and group work. Pause is specifically designed to address the complex needs of women, through intensive support, to enable change in their lives, and ultimately reduce the numbers of children being removed into care.

This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of children's healthcare by developing compelling cases for support and leading fundraising proposition development for one of the UK's most ambitious children's hospital charities. 

The Philanthropy Propositions Lead will be responsible for creating inspiring, evidence-based fundraising propositions that secure transformational philanthropic support from major donors, trusts and foundations. 

Working across Alder Hey Children's Charity and Alder Hey Children's NHS Foundation, the postholder will develop and project manage a pipeline of strategic funding opportunities. This will include helping to coordinate the Charity's capital appeal programme, ensuring complex projects progress efficiently from early concept through to successful fundraising and delivery. 

This role combines exceptional writing, strategic thinking, stakeholder management and project leadership, ensuring every fundraising proposition tells a compelling story of how philanthropy can transform children's healthcare. 

Key Responsibilities will include: 

Case for support and fundraising proposition development 

• Write transformational cases for support which demonstrate clear patient benefit, articulate the case for charitable funding and include meaningful outcomes and impact measures. 

• Produce bespoke proposals for major donors and funders. 

• Create compelling donor and funder updates and reports.

Funding opportunity pipeline development 

• Maintain a pipeline of future funding opportunities, ensuring sufficient project information is available before entering fundraising. 

• Ensure proposed projects have clear objectives, realistic budgets, measurable outcomes and defined timescales. 

Capital Appeal Coordination 

• Develop project plans for complex fundraising opportunities and monitor progress across multiple workstreams. 

• Coordinate regular project meetings with clinical, operational and fundraising colleagues. 

Internal Collaboration 

• Build strong relationships with colleagues and clinicians in the Trust.

About you

As an experienced, innovative and strategic Communications Lead, you will bring a proven track record of developing and delivering communications strategies that build understanding, engagement, influence and meaningful change. This is an opportunity to establish and lead communications for a new, nationally significant programme from the ground up, bringing ideas, energy and initiative to a role that will evolve alongside Bhip.

The role requires someone who can think strategically while also being comfortable getting into the detail and making things happen. You will be equally comfortable developing communications strategy and shaping Bhip.’s narrative as you are producing practical, accessible communications and resources needed by community engagement teams on the ground. You will be able to move confidently between strategic communications, system-facing messaging and hands-on community communications, ensuring each supports the wider aims of the programme. You will be someone who does not wait for a brief or has the imitative to create their own and who actively identifies opportunities, develops ideas and takes them forward. Creativity and innovation will be important in shaping how Bhip communicates its purpose, work, learning and impact, alongside the strategic judgement to understand what needs to be communicated, why, to whom and through which channels.

You will be confident developing and evolving a communications strategy, identifying audiences, shaping messages, narratives and tone of voice, and considering how complex and sensitive issues are communicated.

Strong cultural awareness and understanding will be important, including an appreciation of how culture, language, identity and lived experience can shape how different communities understand and respond to information. The ability to adapt language and communications approaches so that information is clear, accessible, culturally relevant and meaningful, without losing context or nuance, will be central to the role.

The role will span communities, programme teams, partners and creative specialists, from photographers and videographers to designers, digital specialists and other creative partners. You will be able to listen, build relationships, understand different perspectives and use community insight to shape communications that connect with people. You will bring people together around ideas, work confidently across different areas of the programme and use sound judgement to turn opportunities into action.

An understanding of Bhip’s anti-discrimination purpose and community-led approach, alongside a genuine commitment to addressing health inequities caused by structural racism and discrimination, will be essential. You will be comfortable navigating ambiguity, responding to emerging opportunities and bringing curiosity, collaboration and a willingness to try new approaches to the role.

The Opportunity

This is an opportunity to establish and shape the communications function for Bhip from the ground up, playing a central role in how a new, nationally significant programme is understood, positioned and experienced. The Communications Lead will set the strategic communications direction for Bhip, shaping its narrative, language, messaging and voice, and ensuring communications support the programme’s wider ambitions to address health inequities, challenge structural racism and discrimination, strengthen community voice and influence meaningful system change.

With significant scope to shape the direction of communications, the role will span strategy, positioning, messaging, identity, campaigns, digital communications, creative content, media, storytelling and engagement. It will consider not only what Bhip communicates, but how it communicates it, ensuring language, stories and narratives are accessible, thoughtful, culturally relevant and reflective of the programme’s anti-racist and community-led approach

As Bhip develops through co-design, learning and evaluation, the communications strategy will evolve with it, creating opportunities to test new approaches, respond to emerging issues, share learning and strengthen the programme’s influence. The role will work across the programme and partnership to ensure communications are connected to the wider work of Bhip and contribute to its strategic ambitions.

With the freedom and responsibility to shape the communications direction of a five-year programme, you will help establish how Bhip communicates locally, regionally and nationally. The work will contribute not only to Bhip’s profile and impact across Bradford District, but to wider learning, influence and national conversations around health inequities, structural racism and discrimination through the National Lottery Community Fund’s National Collective.

An Exciting Time to Join the Royal Commonwealth Society 

This is an exciting time to join the Royal Commonwealth Society. As the Society approaches its 160th anniversary in 2028, we are developing an ambitious programme of communications and digital engagement to bring the RCS and the Commonwealth to new audiences around the world.

A key opportunity will be the development of Digital Commonwealth Day — a digital programme designed to complement the RCS’s annual Commonwealth Day Celebration at Westminster Abbey and extend its reach globally. Through creative content, video, social media and digital storytelling, it will help amplify the work of the RCS and showcase the achievements and diversity of the Commonwealth.

The successful candidate will play a central role in bringing this vision to life, while helping to strengthen the RCS’s wider digital presence and communications.

 
Role Summary 

The Digital Communications and Public Affairs Officer will lead the day-to-day delivery of the RCS’s communications and digital content, alongside supporting public affairs and stakeholder engagement.

This is a creative, hands-on role for someone who enjoys creating content, telling stories and finding innovative ways to engage audiences. The postholder will manage the RCS website and social media channels, produce written, visual and video content, support flagship campaigns and events, and help develop new digital initiatives.

Key programmes include the RCS Celebration at Westminster Abbey, Digital Commonwealth Day, The Queen’s Commonwealth Writing Competition, the Commonwealth Youth Photography Competition and the RCS’s 160th anniversary programme in 2028.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
 

Communications, Digital & Content 

• Develop and deliver engaging communications and digital content across the RCS website, social media, email and other platforms.
• Manage and maintain the RCS website, including news, blogs, events and campaign content.
• Create, schedule and manage content across X, Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn.
• Create and edit engaging short-form video, photography, graphics and other visual content for digital campaigns and social media.
• Develop creative campaigns and content around key RCS programmes, events and Commonwealth moments.
• Produce the monthly RCS newsletter, including writing, sourcing content and managing mailing lists.
• Use Canva and other digital tools to create high-quality communications materials.
• Capture and repurpose content from RCS events, including interviews, photography, video and social media content.

Commonwealth Day & Digital Commonwealth Day

• Lead communications and digital content supporting the annual Commonwealth Day Celebration at Westminster Abbey.
• Help develop and deliver Digital Commonwealth Day, creating an engaging online programme that complements the Westminster Abbey service and enables audiences around the Commonwealth and beyond to participate digitally.
• Develop pre-, during- and post-event content, including video, interviews, photography, graphics and social media.
• Work with Commonwealth partners, youth networks and other stakeholders to develop and amplify digital contributions and stories.
  

160th Anniversary – 2028

• Support the development and delivery of communications for the RCS’s 160th anniversary in 2028.

Events & Public Affairs

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Thank you for taking an interest in applying for this role at Imperial Health Charity. We’re looking for a thoughtful, creative and enthusiastic Communications Officer to join our team.

In this varied and versatile role, you’ll work as part of the communications team to raise the charity’s profile and celebrate its positive impact for patients and NHS staff. You’ll also work closely with the charity’s grants, arts, volunteering and fundraising teams to promote key activities.

You’ll play an active role in ensuring the team’s aims and objectives are met, using a range of communications approaches including internal comms, digital marketing and public relations.

You’ll also work collaboratively with our partner NHS Trust’s communications team on a day-to-day basis. This will include building close links with members of the team in order to utilise the Trust’s internal channels and build engagement with its staff and external stakeholders.

You’ll take the lead in creating written, photographic and video content for a range of communication channels. This will include updating the charity’s website, co-ordinating social media content and producing printed and digital marketing materials, as well as supporting other charity teams with events and activities as required.

Finally, you’ll support the wider team by representing the charity at events, monitoring and evaluating performance, gathering feedback from surveys and helping to measure the impact of our work.

About you

You will be an experienced, community-focused practitioner with a strong background in co-design, participation, community research or related approaches, and experience of working directly with Global Majority communities and people from different faiths, cultures and backgrounds.

You will be a skilled facilitator and listener, able to build trust, work sensitively with lived experience and use creative, culturally grounded approaches to involve people meaningfully.

You will be curious, practical and adaptable, confident working collaboratively while also taking the lead on developing and delivering Bhip’s co-design approach.

The Opportunity

This is an exciting and unique opportunity to help shape and lead an ambitious approach to community co-design within HHU and the Bhip Programme, working alongside Global Majority communities experiencing some of Bradford’s greatest health inequities.

You will work directly with people and communities to explore their experiences of clinical and community-based health and care, including where racism, discrimination and structural barriers affect access, experience and outcomes. Using co-design, participatory research, deep listening, storytelling and creative approaches, you will explore what matters, what gets in the way and what communities tell us needs to change.

A key part of the role will be developing culturally grounded and accessible ways of working, recognising that conventional consultation and research methods do not work equally well for everyone. You will have the freedom to test and develop different approaches with communities, including creative, visual, narrative and participatory methods, and share what we learn locally and through Bhip’s wider national lottery collective network.

You will lead the development of Bhip’s co-design methodology while remaining a hands-on practitioner. Working closely with the HHU Programme Manager, Bhip Programme Lead, Insight & Evaluation Lead and Community Engagement Facilitators, you will help connect community participation, research and lived experience to Bhip’s Story-to-System approach, ensuring that what communities tell us can contribute to practical learning, action and change.

You will also help build the confidence and capacity of the wider Bhip team to work in genuinely co-designed ways and, where people want to become more involved, support community members and lived-experience leaders to develop as co-designers, peer/community researchers or Story Stewards.

The role will evolve as Bhip develops. We do not expect every method or area of work to be predetermined. We are looking for someone with the experience, curiosity and judgement to work alongside communities, test ideas, learn from what works and help us develop approaches that are meaningful in Bradford and potentially useful much more widely.

 We are recruiting a Communications and Marketing Manager to support income growth through the delivery of Birmingham Hospice's income generation communications and marketing activity.

 This is a two-year, fixed-term post covering a secondment – a genuine opportunity to make a lasting impact for a charity with ambitious plans for the future.

 Working closely with income generation colleagues, you'll bring together fundraising, media, marketing, digital, creative and campaigns activity to maximise income, supporter acquisition and retention.

 You'll be confident leading projects and working collaboratively across teams to deliver impactful campaigns through social media, email and paid media, bringing creativity, innovation and new ideas to help secure and grow all forms of voluntary income and raise the profile of Birmingham Hospice.
