Job description

Citizens Advice Hounslow is launching a vital new energy advice programme that tackles fuel poverty and supports vulnerable communities across Hounslow. We are looking for a dynamic, proactive, and passionate Energy Community Champion to drive our grassroots outreach strategy, build robust partnerships, and create a strong community of energy awareness.

Citizens Advice Hounslow is a well-established charity serving the London Borough of Hounslow. We work to make a meaningful difference in the lives of people who come to us for support. Our high-quality, agile advice service responds to the issues and needs of our community, always putting people first. Thanks to our dedicated team of staff and volunteers, we support over 16,000 clients each year through our face-to-face, telephone and digital services.

The Role

As our Energy Community Champion, you will lead outreach and engagement activities across community hubs, food banks, and local venues, identifying vulnerable residents who face barriers to accessing traditional advice services.

Your mission will be split between delivering awareness-raising workshops and pop-up events in the community (covering energy efficiency, financial capability, and carbon monoxide safety) and upskilling local partner organisations. By training frontline workers in "problem noticing" techniques, you will build seamless referral pathways that route complex energy cases directly into our energy casework team.

Please Note: Experience in energy advice or holding a City & Guilds Level 3 Energy Awareness qualification is highly desirable but not necessary, as full training will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Development: Assist with the roll out the Energy Redress project across Hounslow, targeting areas of high deprivation.
  • Build Referral Networks: Establish and maintain strong partnerships with voluntary, community, and statutory organisations.
  • Deliver Dynamic Training & Workshops: Run "pop-up" energy-saving awareness events and financial capability workshops for residents, and deliver energy efficiency training to professional partner staff.
  • Impact Tracking & Administration: Use internal database tools to maintain GDPR-compliant records and contribute data for evaluation reports against fixed KPIs.
  • Professional Standards: Work cooperatively with the broader Energy Team and complete a full Level 3 Energy Awareness qualification during your induction.

About You

We are looking for a confident communicator who thrives when speaking to groups and building networks. You should be highly organized, self-motivated, and comfortable working in a targeted environment.

Essential Requirements:

  • Proven experience in grassroots community engagement, outreach, or partnership working.
  • Strong background in delivering training, presentations, or educational workshops to diverse audiences.
  • Experience delivering programmes focused on financial capability, budgeting, or energy-saving measures.
  • Excellent data and IT skills, with an understanding of the barriers faced by low-income or vulnerable communities.
  • Commitment to the aims and principles of the Citizens Advice service.

We offer a range of employee benefits, including generous annual leave, pension contribution, and training and opportunities to continue your professional development.

We consider applications from all applicants who meet the person specification irrespective of sex, gender reassignment, marriage or civil partnership status, pregnancy and maternity, sexual orientation, race, religion or belief, age, or disability.
