Teens Unite is leading the way in youth cancer support.
We’re an energetic, ambitious and dynamic charity improving the lives of 13-24-year-olds living with, and beyond, cancer. We’re not here to cure cancer. We’re here to empower young people to rebuild their lives and thrive beyond a diagnosis by taking part in our specialist activities, programmes and residential stays.
This is an incredibly exciting time to join our team. Demand for our support is growing rapidly, with a 48% increase in young people registering over the last 12 months.
As we grow, we’re embarking on our most ambitious chapter yet: building the first purpose-built retreat in England for young people overcoming cancer. This pioneering, first-of-its-kind development will transform the support available to young people for generations to come.
We’re looking for an experienced, ambitious and creative Trusts & Grants Manager to play a vital role in making this vision a reality. Combining exceptional relationship-building skills with the ability to develop standout, compelling pitches and applications, you will secure vital funding for both this transformational project and our existing services, to ensure we reach our ambition of providing 30,000 opportunities for teenagers and young adults over the next decade.
Who you are:
You thrive on building relationships and are a natural storyteller with a strong strategic instinct - someone who understands what matters to a funder and can build genuine connections between their priorities and the work, impact and ambitions of Teens Unite.
You understand that a successful funding application is never simply about changing a few words in an existing proposal. You have a talent for developing persuasive, engaging and individually tailored applications and reports that stand out and inspire funders to invest in our work.
You’ll research every opportunity, take the time to understand each funder’s priorities and motivations, and build meaningful relationships that keep Teens Unite front of mind when funding opportunities arise. You’ll adapt the tone, emphasis and case for support accordingly - while always retaining Teens Unite’s own language, personality and brand.
You’ll have a strong track record of securing funding and building a successful pipeline and recognise that the relationship with a funder doesn’t end when the funds are received. You’ll take pride in nurturing relationships, demonstrating the impact of their support and building long-standing partnerships with the potential to grow over time.
You’ll have experience of exceeding fundraising targets and taking ownership of the complete funding journey –from identifying opportunities and developing compelling applications, through to managing grants, demonstrating impact and securing future or repeat funding where appropriate.
You’ll take real ownership of delivering tangible results, bringing fresh ideas, ambition and a proactive approach to identifying and pursuing new opportunities.
The role:
As a self-funded charity, grant income is a vital and growing area of fundraising at Teens Unite, supporting both our current service delivery of activities, programmes and residential breaks, and our ambitious plans for the future.
Teens Unite currently raises £200,000 per annum from grants and trusts, and we are looking to grow this year on year through developing and delivering an ambitious grants fundraising strategy, which will support Teens Unite’s current service delivery and work towards raising the remaining 50% needed of our £6.5million capital appeal to build England’s first purpose-built retreat for young people overcoming cancer.
This isn’t about simply stepping into a bid writing role, it’s about thinking creatively to retain existing funding relationships and seeking new opportunities with the ability to balance ambition with integrity, ensuring funding opportunities genuinely align with organisational priorities and values.
We need you to:
- Take ownership of Teens Unite’s trusts, foundations and grant income programme, working towards agreed annual income targets across programme, core and capital funding.
- Develop and deliver an ambitious trust and grants fundraising strategy to grow income year on year, across programme, core and capital funding
- Research prospective trusts, foundations and grant-making organisations and identify opportunities that align with Teens Unite’s work and ambitions.
- Write compelling funding applications, proposals and cases for support
- Develop project budgets and funding packages in collaboration with colleagues
- Build, nurture and maintain long-term relationships with funders
- Manage grant agreements, reporting requirements and payment schedules
- Produce engaging, evidence-led impact reports that clearly demonstrate how funding has been used and the difference it has made
- Monitor income performance against agreed targets and maintain accurate fundraising records and pipeline reports
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation to maximise the impact of funding secured
What we offer:
When joining Teens Unite, you can expect:
- Annual performance-related bonus opportunity
- Flexible and hybrid working arrangements
- 33 days annual leave pro rata (inclusive of Bank Holidays)
- Christmas office closure
- Optional company-contributed pension scheme
- Recently refurbished offices and free on-site parking
- To be part of an inclusive and dynamic work environment with a dedicated and growing team
- Responsibility and ownership of an income stream that is fundamental to Teens Unite’s growth and future
- Support in your personal and professional development, including access to training
- The chance to make a real-life difference in the lives of young people
Essential experience and qualifications:
- Demonstrable experience securing income from trusts and foundations
- Experience of securing capital funding, and multi-year, core and programme funding Strong relationship building skills

About the Royal School for the Blind Charity
The Royal School for the Blind Charity Liverpool is a charity that runs both a School for young people aged 2-19 years old and an adult day service for young adults over the age of 19 with vision impairment, sensory, or additional needs. Although our funding comes from a variety of sources, we are starting to fundraise to support our income and make our work more sustainable for the future. Income generated will support the development of our pupils and young adults, prepare them for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of adult life and encourage their independence, communication and mobility.
Why this role matters
We have ambitious plans for the future including building a new Centre to provide opportunities for therapies and independent growth for young people, and we know that developing sustainable voluntary income will be critical to achieving them. That's why we're investing in fundraising and creating this new role. As our first Development Manager, you'll have the opportunity to build our fundraising approach from the ground up, developing new relationships with individuals, businesses, communities and charitable funders and helping us tell the story of our work to new audiences.
Role Overview and Application Process
Job Title: Charity Development Manager
Hours: Full Time (37 hours per week)
Location: This role can be either office-based at the Royal School for the Blind Charity, or hybrid.
Responsible to: Charity Leadership Group and managed by Head of Central Services
Pay Scale: £35k - £40k, depending on experience (NJC 26-30)
Term: Two-year fixed term in the first instance, with the ambition to establish fundraising as a sustainable long-term function within the charity.
This is a rare opportunity to build and shape a new fundraising operation from the ground up, playing a pivotal role in the long-term growth and sustainability of the Royal School for the Blind Charity. As the function develops, there will be scope to expand its reach and impact, offering excellent potential for career progression.
The Charity Development Manager will lead efforts to secure vital income that underpins the charity’s vision and purpose, driving support through donor engagement, targeted campaigns, and strategic fundraising initiatives. Our long-term ambition is to build a diversified fundraising programme capable of generating approximately £400,000 annually. This role will be instrumental in developing and delivering a growing, high-performing fundraising portfolio.
We are looking for an experienced fundraising professional who can design and deliver a robust, evidence-based fundraising strategy. This will involve gaining a deep understanding of the charity’s mission, stakeholders, and audiences, as well as the broader funding landscape, creating a diversified and effective approach that maximizes income and long-term sustainability. This is an exciting time for the Charity as we become much more outward-looking. Alongside our existing work, we have begun a capital building project to enhance our resources. When completed, the new Rushton Centre will house facilities which are open to the public, including a hydrotherapy pool and a café. At the heart of this is a wish to make the Royal School for the Blind Charity part of the fabric of the City.
In this new post we are looking for someone who can help open up our work to the wider public: the role is well suited to an experienced fundraiser looking for autonomy and the opportunity to help shape the next chapter in the charity’s history.
Although this is a new standalone fundraising role, you won't be building the function in isolation. The post sits within a well-established and supportive team and will be strategically led by the Charity Leadership group and Board of Trustees. In addition, you will have access to colleagues across our services to help bring our impact to life, and support to develop campaigns and engage new audiences. Alongside this, the Charity is currently fundraising for a capital project for a significant new building to resource our activities and reach out into the wider community. Whilst this is a separate project, in the future there will be exciting opportunities to link the new building into the core fundraising strategy.
For full roles and responsibilities please see the application pack.
Applications close: 9am on Wednesday 21st October
Shortlisting: Thursday 22nd October
Interviews: Wednesday 4th November
Preferred start date: January 2027 (or as soon as possible)

We’re seeking someone who is organised, curious and confident in their writing, with the ability to juggle different tasks and build positive relationships across the team. You don’t need previous fundraising experience — transferable skills from other roles or sectors are just as valuable.
You will play an important role in supporting VIY’s income growth and helping the team work efficiently as we expand nationally. This is a great entry point into fundraising, giving you hands‑on experience in research, bid coordination, stewardship support and Customer Relationship Manager CRM (we use Salesforce) within a fast‑moving, mission‑driven organisation.
Please read the full job description and person specification in our Application Pack before applying.
Please send an up-to-date CV and a cover letter (of no more than one page). Your cover letter should outline how your skills and experience would help you meet the person specification as detailed in our application pack, giving clear examples.
Application deadline: Monday 28th September
First stage interviews - 15 minute phone calls: w/c 28th September
Final interviews - 45 minute video calls: w/c 5th October

At The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, accurate, accessible and well-managed data underpins everything from supporter stewardship to the delivery of ambitious fundraising campaigns. We are looking for a proactive and solutions-focused Senior Database Officer to help colleagues get the best from our fundraising CRM, strengthen data quality and support our ongoing transition to Raiser’s Edge NXT.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a collaborative Data and Fundraising Operations team at a time of significant growth. You will combine technical database work with stakeholder support, training and process improvement, helping colleagues use our systems confidently and effectively.
You do not need to know every system we use from day one. If you have strong data manipulation skills, enjoy solving complex problems and can quickly develop expertise in new technology, we would love to hear from you.
What makes this opportunity different
This role offers more than traditional database administration.
Our Data and Fundraising Operations team acts as the technical lead for many of the Charity’s systems and technical projects. Alongside developing your knowledge of Raiser’s Edge NXT, you’ll have opportunities to broaden your experience across Excel, Access, SharePoint, APIs, data integrations, reporting, automation and system implementation.
You’ll be joining a collaborative and supportive team where you can deepen your CRM expertise while developing a broader understanding of data, systems and digital processes within fundraising.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll help colleagues across the Charity get the best from our fundraising CRM and data by:
- Providing day-to-day support and troubleshooting for Raiser’s Edge NXT users
- Supporting fundraising teams as they move from Raiser’s Edge 7 to NXT
- Delivering clear training, guidance and practical support to CRM users
- Managing data imports, cleansing, audits and database administration
- Monitoring data quality and improving how supporter information is recorded
- Working with stakeholders to understand their needs and improve systems and processes
About you
You may already be working as a Database Officer, CRM Officer or charity data specialist and be ready to take the next step in your career.
You’re curious, proactive and solutions-focused. You enjoy investigating data and system issues, working with complex datasets and finding practical ways to improve processes. Just as importantly, you enjoy working with people and can explain technical information clearly to colleagues with different levels of confidence and experience.
You’ll bring:
- Proven ability to learn new systems quickly and develop advanced knowledge
- Strong data manipulation skills using Excel, Access or comparable tools
- Highly developed problem-solving skills
- The ability to investigate data or system issues methodically
- Experience managing several stakeholders and competing requirements
- The ability to draw out requirements and translate them into practical improvements
- Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical information clearly
- A proactive approach and a high level of initiative
It would be helpful, but not essential, if you have
- Experience of working within a charity
- Advanced knowledge of Raiser’s Edge 7 or Raiser’s Edge NXT
- Experience using ImportOmatic or a similar data import tool
- Experience designing and delivering systems training
- Experience creating user guidance or process documentation
- Experience supporting CRM adoption or system change
Benefits:
- Hybrid working, with approximately 40% of your time in the office and 60% working from home each month
- 27 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays, rising to 29 days after five years
- A contributory pension scheme with employer contributions of up to 6%
- Life insurance for eligible pension scheme members
- Enhanced maternity and adoption leave and pay
- Employee assistance and confidential counselling services
- Flexible working options
- Subsidised on-site canteens
- A bright, modern Chelsea office close to South Kensington station
- The technology and equipment needed to work effectively from home

You will need to be based within or near Hampshire, as we’re looking for someone who can work from our Enham Trust office around 2 to 3 days a week.
