The Role
We are seeking an experienced Recruitment and Payroll professional with a strong understanding of UK employment law, payroll legislation, statutory requirements, and HR best practice. The successful candidate will have proven experience managing end to end recruitment and payroll processes, always ensuring compliance and accuracy. A sound knowledge of HR systems, particularly iTrent, payroll administration, employee lifecycle processes, and current employment legislation is essential.

As People Operations Officer you will be delivering a customer-focussed HR processing service for a number of areas of our organisation. You will be working with our Service Managers to ensure they work to our HR polices, processes and practices. This will include:
- Using the ATS system to approve and publish roles
- Carrying out background checks and onboarding new staff.
- Issuing offer letters and contracts of employment.
- Administering the leaver processes.
- Processing variations to contracts and payroll changes and entering timesheets.
- Monitoring key events and dates relevant to the employment relationship (e.g. DBS renewals) and taking appropriate action.
- Collating inter-company transfer (TUPE) data as required and implementing the payroll and records aspects of TUPE transfers
- Managing the employee absence processes, including annual leave, sickness, maternity and paternity.
- Preparing redundancy calculations
- Supporting with grievance and disciplinary investigations by making arrangements and taking notes.
- Supporting Managers with informal and Stage 1 sickness absence cases.

You will be managed by our People Operations Manager, and will be working with a wider People team who support other areas of the organisation, so there will be plenty of opportunities to learn from others, hear more about what we do and how you play a part in the bigger picture.
You'll also be working closely with the rest of the team in particularly the Strategic People Partners and ER & Wellbeing team. Your relationship with our Payroll team is also going to be key.
Qualifications
An understanding of, or keen interest in HR is essential, while some experience of the area would be desirable. We will also look to supporting you with further development and in gaining a recognised qualification in HR support.
To succeed in this role you must possess a good basic education and strong administrative skills - including a familiarity with Word and Excel, and experience of using mail merge and databases. You will be able to work on your own initiative and maintain confidentiality. In addition, you must be able to demonstrate:

The Finance and Operations Officer is responsible for day-to-day financial processing, HR administration and operational coordination. The role ensures accurate financial records, smooth administrative processes and effective support for staff across the Society. The postholder works closely with the Finance Manager to maintain strong financial controls, support compliance, and contribute to the efficient running of the organisation.
The Finance and Operations Officer liaises with all areas of the Society and helps provide reports and documentation to the Finance, Audit and Risk Committee and Council. They are line managed by the Finance Manager.
Main Responsibilities
Financial Processing
- Process purchase invoices, staff expenses, credit card transactions and supplier payments.
- Manage Society credit cards and bank accounts under the oversight of the Finance Manager.
- Deposit payments (sterling and dollars) and maintain accurate financial records.
- Prepare payment runs and upload payment files in line with dual authorisation procedures.
- Support monthly reconciliations (bank, Stripe, PayPal, Direct Debits, Standing Orders).
- Input financial data into Sage, including investment movements and dividends.
- Run routine financial reports and provide data to the Finance Manager as required.
HR Administration
- Manage timesheet collation, leave management updates and staff HR records.
- Support recruitment administration, onboarding documentation and induction scheduling.
- Maintain digital HR files and ensure compliance with HR policies and GDPR.
- Provide administrative support for outsourced payroll (data collation, timesheet checks, staff changes).
Operational Coordination
- Provide administrative support across finance and operations, including digital filing and workflow management.
- Coordinate suppliers, contracts and office operations.
- Maintain inventories of finance supplies, equipment and subscriptions.
- Support donor stewardship processes including donation acknowledgements.
- Assist with facilities-related tasks and liaise with contractors and service providers.
Month End and Reporting Support
- Prepare month end schedules and documentation for review by the Finance Manager.
- Run routine reports from Sage, S360 and CRM systems.
- Collate receipts and documentation for restricted fund reporting.
- Support project managers with financial documentation required for funder reports.
Systems and Data Management
- Maintain accurate data across S360, Sage and the fundraising CRM.
- Support digitisation initiatives and workflow automation.
- Assist with system improvements, testing and implementation of new digital tools.
- Ensure data integrity and compliance with GDPR requirements.
Customer Service and Internal Support
- Provide responsive support to staff across departments.
- Act as first point of contact for routine finance, HR and operational queries.
- Support internal communications relating to finance, HR and operations.General Responsibilities

About the Role

We are entering an exciting phase of growth and are looking to expand our services and extend our reach across Birmingham, the Black Country and surrounding areas. This new role is central to these plans.
Initially, the role will be hands-on, with responsibility for recruiting and training additional administrative staff, fully opening our main premises and moving to a hybrid model of online and face-to-face counselling. Are you an organised, solution-focused administrator with experience in financial reconciliation?
We are looking for someone to join the St Mungo’s Property Services Team as a Reconciliation Administrator for a12 month fixed term contract, or secondment for internal candidates.
In the role of Administrator you’ll work as part of a busy team, leading on payment reconciliation, Schedule of Rates (SOR) validation and general repairs and maintenance administration support.
Key responsibilities include:
- Processing property services related invoices and payments.
- Ensuring accurate contractor reconciliation against works completed, and resolving discrepancies.
- Using relevant IT systems and processes including our Asset Management System.
- Maintaining accurate repairs and financial data, producing reports, and identifying trends, risks, and areas for improvement.
- Providing effective administrative support and compliance, while providing high quality customer service, through shared inboxes and phonelines.

Where you’ll be working
You will be required to work flexibly for at least 2 days per week from our Central Office in Farringdon, London. We support a flexible approach to work with opportunities for agile working for the rest of your week; from home, or other St Mungo’s London or regional locations.
What we’re looking for
