Head of Compliance
Midlands | Up to £85,000

Goodman Masson are partnering with a leading social housing provider to appoint a Head of Compliance.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced housing professional to take a lead role in ensuring the organisation’s homes, buildings and services meet all relevant statutory, regulatory and health and safety requirements. You will provide strategic leadership across the organisation’s compliance framework, ensuring robust systems, policies and processes are in place to manage key areas of landlord compliance and protect residents, colleagues and the wider organisation.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of the regulatory and legislative requirements affecting social housing and demonstrable experience of leading compliance within a housing environment. You will be confident operating at a senior level, with the ability to influence stakeholders, provide clear assurance and embed a strong culture of compliance across the organisation.
This is an excellent opportunity for a knowledgeable and ambitious compliance professional to play a key role in shaping and strengthening the organisation’s approach to health, safety and regulatory compliance, while making a meaningful contribution to the delivery of safe, well-managed homes for residents.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee the organisation’s statutory and regulatory compliance framework across its housing stock and corporate assets.
  • Provide strategic direction and professional leadership across all key areas of landlord compliance.
  • Ensure robust policies, procedures, systems and controls are in place to manage compliance risks effectively.
  • Oversee compliance programmes and ensure statutory inspections, servicing, testing and remedial works are completed within required timescales.
  • Maintain effective oversight of compliance data, records and asset information, ensuring information is accurate, reliable and auditable.
  • Provide regular compliance performance and risk reporting to senior management, Executive Teams and Board committees.
  • Monitor legislative, regulatory and best practice developments, ensuring the organisation’s compliance approach remains current and effective.
  • Work collaboratively with Asset Management, Property Services, Repairs and wider operational teams to embed a strong culture of health, safety and compliance.
  • Manage and monitor compliance-related contractors and consultants, ensuring performance, quality and value for money.
  • Lead the identification, assessment and mitigation of compliance risks, escalating significant issues where appropriate.
  • Support the organisation in meeting its regulatory obligations and maintaining effective assurance arrangements.

About you

  • Significant experience in social housing across complaice
  • A strong understanding of landlord compliance and the key statutory and regulatory requirements affecting housing providers.
  • Proven experience of managing compliance frameworks and programmes across multiple disciplines.
  • Experience providing clear advice, challenge and assurance to senior stakeholders and Board-level audiences.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across an organisation.
  • A collaborative leadership style and the ability to drive positive change and embed a strong culture of compliance.
  • A proactive, risk-based approach with excellent attention to detail.
  • A genuine commitment to ensuring residents live in safe, secure and compliant homes.
