Role Purpose
The Finance Manager is responsible for the effective day-to-day stewardship of the church’s financial resources ensuring compliance with UK charity law, financial regulations and best practice under the Charities SORP. The Finance Manager will oversee day-to-day financial operations, provide accurate and timely financial reporting, support strategic decision-making and ensure robust financial controls are maintained across all church activities.

This role combines operational finance management and detailed bookkeeping, with strategic financial insight in support of the church’s mission and ministry. This is a hands-on, detail-driven role suited to someone who enjoys making systems work well, solving problems and creating order through effective processes and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

1. Financial Management & Reporting
· Oversee and process all day-to-day financial operations including income, expenditure, payroll and cash flow management.
· Assist the Head of Finance and Governance with monthly management accounts for the Standing Committee & PCC.
· Support in preparing annual budgets in collaboration with budget holders.
· Monitor performance against budgets and provide financial forecasting.
· Assist with the preparation of statutory annual accounts in accordance with the Charity SORP.
· Liaise with independent examiners or auditors during annual auditing processes.
· Supporting gift days including working the Sundays where gift day takes place (twice per year for two Sundays in a row).
· General liaison with external suppliers ensuring best value for money (e.g. Electricity, Gas, Service Contracts).

2. Compliance & Governance
· Ensure compliance with the Charity Commission regulations, HMRC requirements (including Gift Aid processing) and Parish Reporting.
· Maintain strong financial controls and internal procedures.
· Ensure restricted funds are tracked and reported appropriately.
· Maintain and review financial policies and procedures.

3. Bookkeeping Requirements
· Oversee all income and expenditure journals in Xero and stewardship systems, including processing Gift Aid claims, regular giving administration and online giving platforms.
· Manage all invoicing for hiring income & expenditure.
· Ensure accurate recording and reporting of restricted and unrestricted funds.
· Support with financial information for grants and providing grant reporting to budget holders and external grant bodies.
· Liaising with congregation about their giving and providing information where needed.
· Processing all team expenses and reconciling credit cards.
· Sending out monthly monitoring reports to budget holders.

4. Payroll & HR Finance
· Oversee payroll processing, pensions (including auto-enrolment compliance) and HMRC submissions.
· Manage Nest and Standard Life pension programmes.
· Ensure accurate salary allocation across departments and restricted funds/grants where required.
· Liaise with HR regarding employment budget planning.

5. Systems & Process Improvement
· Manage and optimise financial software systems and API’s to ensure efficiencies.
· Develop and document financial procedures to ensure business continuity and resilience.
· Support digitalisation and efficiency improvements within finance operations and improve current process to be fully digital.

6. Collaboration & Communication
· Build strong working relationships across departments to ensure effective financial collaboration.
· Support communication of new systems, finance policies and changes to the staff team.
· Contribute positively to the Operations Team culture of clarity, care and accountability.

Person Specification

Essential Skills and Experience
· At least 3-5 years’ experience managing the finance and bookkeeping function within a charity or not-for-profit environment.
· Excellent knowledge and expertise of Xero Accounting Software.
· Experience in supporting the preparation of accounts and annual statutory accounts.
· Experience with payroll and HMRC compliance.
· Excellent analytical and communication skills.
· High level of integrity and discretion.
· Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
· High attention to detail and able to work autonomously.
· Confident user of Microsoft Office Suite and comfortable with digital systems E.G. Xero, SharePoint, Notion & Pension Platforms.

Working Requirements

Key Church Services and Events

The Role

Ronald McDonald House Charities UK is seeking a proactive and creative Mass Participation Events Manager to lead the delivery and growth of our mass participation portfolio. The role will lead on the strategy, performance and delivery of our challenge events programme, ensuring events achieve agreed income and participation targets and work closely with the Head of Mass Engagement to shape and test future Ronald McDonald House Charities UK owned mass participation events, supporting sustainable, diversified income growth.

Key Responsibilities:

Event Strategy & Planning

Senior Technical Officer (MEAL)

Dravet Syndrome is a rare, life-long and life-limiting form of epilepsy that affects approximately one in every 15,000 people in the UK (around 2-4,000 people in total). It is a complex epilepsy syndrome so as well as severe, difficult-to-control seizures, people with Dravet Syndrome live with intellectual disability and a spectrum of associated difficulties including with speech and language, mobility, behaviours, eating and sleep. It is also common to have a co-diagnosis of autism and/or ADHD.

Founded in 2008 by a group of parents seeking support and information, DSUK has grown significantly over the past 17 years. Today, DSUK supports nearly 600 registered families across the UK and reaches over 2000 people in total, including parents and carers, siblings and bereaved families. As an organisation they deliver a range of impactful services aimed at improving the lives of beneficiaries through family support, professional education and medical research.

At a time of continued growth for the charity, and as medical advancements in the field continue (including clinical trials for the first gene therapies in rare epilepsy), DSUK are now looking to recruit a strategic, collaborative new CEO to help shape the next stage of their journey.

As the organisation’s new CEO, you will provide inspiring, values-driven leadership across the organisation, holding overall responsibility for the day-to-day operations and long-term growth. You will work closely with the Board of Trustees to develop and deliver the organisation’s next five-year strategy, steering organisational priorities, strengthening culture and ensuring the charity continues to grow, both in terms of scale and in impact. Following a recent step-change in investment, there is now a significant opportunity to accelerate growth and position legacy giving more centrally across Greenpeace UK’s fundraising and supporter engagement.

This role is central to Greenpeace UK’s legacy programme, managing a varied caseload from straightforward estates to complex and high-value cases. As a newly created position, it brings legacy administration fully in-house and will play a key role in ensuring income is realised in full, accurately managed, and delivered in line with best practice.

As Legacy Case Manager, you will: 

• Manage a caseload of residuary, pecuniary, life interest, discretionary, and high-value legacies, including contentious cases
• Lead on the preparation, monitoring and reporting of the legacy income budget and mid year forecasts, working closely with Finance and Fundraising colleagues to provide accurate, timely projections and variance analysis
• Work closely with internal teams and build effective external relationships with solicitors, executors and families to support positive outcomes
• Identify and resolve complex issues involving probate, trusts, tax, property, or litigation
• Represent Greenpeace UK externally with professionalism, fostering constructive relationships with pledgers, executors, solicitors, and sector peers
• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, Charity Commission guidance, and ILM best practice

Essential skills and experience:

• Substantial experience in charity legacy and estate administration, both contentious and non-contentious
• Significant knowledge of probate, trusts, tax, and property issues relevant to legacy casework
• Strong understanding of sector best practice in legacy administration and charity law
• Proven ability to manage a high-volume and varied caseload to deadlines
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
• Diplomacy, empathy, and resilience in handling contentious or sensitive cases
• Ability to work independently, prioritise effectively, and manage competing demands

A legal, probate, or legacy administration qualification is advantageous but not required.

We're looking for a Fundraising Manager, Trusts & Statutory to join our Development team and grow our income from charitable trusts and foundations. You'll manage a portfolio of high-value funders, craft compelling proposals, and forge the kind of long-term relationships that sustain our work in 22 of the UK's most under-resourced communities.

• Building and managing a pipeline of five and six-figure trust and foundation grants
• Writing persuasive, evidence-rich funding applications and stewardship reports

Exciting Coordinator role at the heart of a national refugee and climate action project - 'Action Asylum'. Based in Liverpool, starts July 2026.

Action Asylum is a national, community-led, nature-based volunteering project that brings people seeking asylum and local residents together through practical climate and nature action - tree planting, habitat restoration, beach cleans, and food growing. Delivered across ten cities through a cross-sector network of refugee-sector organisations, Wildlife Trusts and local green partners, the project improves wellbeing and belonging, strengthens community cohesion, and contributes to nature recovery and climate resilience.

The project is led by Task Force Trust and we have secured funding for the 3 year project. A Central Coordination Team (CCT), hosted by Asylum Link Merseyside in Liverpool, provides national strategic oversight, partner coordination, communications, and evaluation across the full network.

The Role

We are looking for an experienced, values-driven coordinator to join the Action Asylum Central Coordination Team as National Coordinator. This is a varied and rewarding role at the heart of a genuinely innovative national project - one that sits at the intersection of migration, climate action, and community.

The National Coordinator is the operational engine of Action Asylum's national network. You will be the primary point of contact for Project Leads across all ten cities, keeping delivery on track, ensuring robust monitoring and reporting, and supporting partners to deliver safe, inclusive, high-quality programmes. You will also coordinate the Skills Exchange Programme, work jointly with the Project Director on the University of Nottingham's independent evaluation, and line-manage the Liverpool Action Asylum Project Lead.

You will be based at Asylum Link Merseyside in Liverpool as part of the CCT, working closely with the Project Director (your line manager), the Finance Manager, and the National Comms Officer. Flexible working is available and regular in-person presence at the CCT base is expected. The role is 4 days per week (0.8 FTE) on a fixed-term contract aligned to the three-year project (July 2026 – June 2029), with an expected start date of Monday 6 July 2026.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary day-to-day point of contact for all ten city-level delivery partners, convening monthly national Project Lead meetings and quarterly national partnership network meetings.

• Manage the CODA reporting system, ensure timely partner reporting, compile bi-annual reports for funders, and support the University of Nottingham's independent evaluation (access, logistics, and city-level data - jointly with the Project Director).

• Oversee the continued co-production and delivery of the Skills Exchange Programme with all delivery partners and Wildlife Trusts throughout the three-year project.

• Support local partners with communications activity, contribute to the quarterly national newsletter, and work with the National Comms Officer and IMIX Media to ensure consistent, inclusive messaging across the network.

• Support the Project Director - who holds national safeguarding lead responsibility - in maintaining the project-wide safeguarding framework, risk log, and partner training records.

• Line-manage the Liverpool Action Asylum Project Lead (PL), who holds a combined role spanning Action Asylum project delivery and ALM's wider community wellbeing programme. This includes biannual supervisions, supporting the PL to meet their combined objectives, and offering pastoral support as needed.

• Play a key coordination role in national annual events (Year 2 Liverpool meet-up and Year 3 closing celebration) and support funder network engagement.

About You

We are looking for someone who brings:

• Experience working in the refugee, asylum or migrant sector, with a genuine understanding of the barriers and strengths within these communities.

• Strong project coordination and network management skills - comfortable holding multiple relationships and workstreams simultaneously.

• Experience with monitoring, evaluation and reporting, including data management and funder reporting.

• Excellent facilitation skills and confidence leading virtual meetings with diverse participants.

• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail - able to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines effectively.

• Experience of, or confidence in, line managing or supervising staff, with a supportive and accountable management style.

• A warm, collaborative working style with a genuine commitment to equity, inclusion, and trauma-informed practice.

We are looking for both a Senior Data Investigator and a Data Investigator to join our Data Investigations Team in delivering a major new project focused on abandoned and orphaned oil and gas wells in Europe. The Senior Data Investigator and Data Investigator will work together in the development of the core database underpinning the project’s public-facing map, and carry out rigorous data analysis and investigations that help uncover the environmental, financial and public interest issues linked abandoned to oil and gas wells.

You will also contribute to the wider work of the Data Investigations Team, supporting the development and delivery of other data-led investigations, strengthening data investigation practice across the organisation, and helping ensure that data is used effectively in Global Witness’s publications and advocacy.
