EMERGENCY is an independent, international NGO providing free, high-quality medical and surgical treatment to victims of war, landmines and poverty. At the same time, it promotes a culture of peace, solidarity and respect for human rights.

The aim is to implement the newly developed high value fundraising strategy, with a view to tripling current income levels from this source by securing high five and six figure gifts of both unrestricted and restricted income.

The purpose of the Senior Development Manager is to build and maintain a portfolio of high value donors and prospects through proactive networking, identifying cultivation opportunities and thoughtful stewardship. With a focus range of £100,000 and above, the position will develop long-term, strategic partnerships with existing and potential high value supporters, where relationships and their impact will be measured from both a financial and non-financial perspective. 

The postholder must be able to work independently with minimal supervision and demonstrate a high degree of lateral thinking within a small but hard-working team.

Main activities:

1) To raise funds in the form of high value gifts (focusing on £100,000 and above) through a variety of methods, including regular face-to-face meetings, attending conferences and participating in other activities by implementing a comprehensive programme to identify, research, cultivate and solicit high value donors who have the potential for significant, multi-year giving.

The Mental Health Foundation is recruiting for a Financial Controller to support the Finance team based at our London office.

Contract type: This is a permanent role

This exciting role will lead on all aspects of the finance function, including managing managing the Finance & Systems Officer, overseeing the production of year-end accounts in collaboration with internal stakeholders and auditors, and preparing monthly management accounts for reports to the Senior managers and trustees. Responsibilities also include stewardship of the Foundation’s liquid assets, leading the budgeting and forecasting processes, verifying monthly payroll prepared by HR, and ensuring the efficient operation of the purchase ledger function.

What does the role involve?

• Coordinate across the Foundation and help prepare the annual statutory accounts and all schedules for audit and be the lead liaison with the auditors.
• Prepare monthly financial reports and budgets for review by senior management, providing analysis and other measures of performance.
• Lead on improving processes and systems across all aspects of finance and liaising with the wider organisation to drive these forward.

What skills, knowledge and experience are we looking for?

• Up to date knowledge of charity financial legislation and best practice
• Innovative in the development of processes, procedures and information systems to support the work of the team and organisation
• Demonstrable successful accounting experience in a similar role, ideally within the charity sector

About the role 

As our Senior Internal Auditor, you will support WaterAid to continuously strengthen internal controls and effective risk management by the delivery of internal audit engagements working closely with management to drive sustainable change. 

In this role, you will: 

• Deliver risk-based internal audits to provide assurance that financial and other control procedures are appropriate and implemented as designed.

• Respond to requests for assistance and advice from management in respect of any matters relating to systems of control, risk management and governance.

• Input to the development of the Internal Audit function 

• Support management in developing a fraud aware culture and in fraud response, including undertaking investigations where required 

• Champion WaterAid’s commitment to equity, inclusion and safeguarding. 

Requirements

To be successful, you will need: 

• Honesty, integrity, tenacity and sensitivity 

• Experienced auditor 

• A professional CCAB (Consultative Committee of Accounting Bodies) accounting qualification or accredited member of the CIIA (Chartered Institute of Internal Auditors)

• A willingness to travel and an ability to work independently with limited supervision 

• Strong numeric, analytical and financial skills, with an aptitude for budgeting and financial management 

• Good understanding of risk management and internal controls 

• Excellent communication and report writing skills, with either native proficiency or advanced professional proficiency in English

• Confident to communicate with all levels of management and Trustees 

• Excellent time management and organisational skills and ability to juggle multiple assignments and meet competing deadlines 

• Strong IT literacy

• Proficiency of auditing using data analytics techniques and AI

• Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to work across different cultures 

• Strong influencing skills and ability to build a strong network within and across WaterAid and with peers in the sector. 

• Ability to support and coach secondees and supervise their work as required 

Although not essential, we’d prefer you to have: 

• Experience of working in the INGO sector 

• Qualifications and/or experience in fraud investigations e.g. Certified Fraud Examiner

An internationally recognised cultural organisation is seeking an experienced Interim Chief Financial Officer to provide clear financial leadership during a critical period of organisational transition and transformation.

This is a high-profile opportunity for a commercially minded finance leader who can bring strategic insight across the charity's multiple income streams. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive, the Interim CFO will act as a key strategic adviser to the executive leadership team and Board. You will help to guide the organisation through a period of financial challenge, operational improvement, and long-term planning. This role will suit an experienced CFO or Finance Director who is comfortable operating within complex stakeholder environments and leading through change.

The role will oversee the finance function, support the development of senior finance colleagues and help position the organisation for a smooth transition to permanent financial leadership.

Key areas of focus will include:

• Lead strategic financial planning and scenario modelling across income streams
• Develop and present Board and Committee reporting packs, providing clear strategic financial insight in both written and verbal formats
• Partner with the Executive Leadership Team and Board to support and inform long-term organisational planning and decision-making
