The Sanctuary (Crisis Café) is a service for all residents experiencing emotional distress. The café is weekdays during the evening and at weekends in the afternoon. We provide initial support meetings both face to face and via the telephone, workign with clients to resolve immediate distress, and explore coping mechanisms. We then coproduce support plans with clients and offer 121’s, counselling, peer support groups and workshops as well as a social place to be.
The support worker will be experienced in working with people in distress or who have mental health issues, highly organised and have excellent people skills. A minimum of 3 shifts per week is required.
The service is open 7 days a week:
4.30-10pm Monday – Friday and 12 – 6pm Saturday and Sunday (Barnet)
5-10pm Monday – Friday and 12 – 5pm Saturday and Sunday (Enfield)

About the role:
As a Project Worker at our Stacey Street service in Islington, you’ll support adults who have experienced homelessness or rough sleeping to rebuild stability and move towards independent living. This is a hands-on role in a busy hostel environment where no two days are the same.
You’ll work directly with residents who may be navigating challenges linked to mental health, substance use, trauma or contact with the criminal justice system. Through strengths-based support planning and clear risk management, you’ll help individuals identify goals, overcome barriers and take practical steps forward. From supporting someone to engage with treatment, to sustaining a tenancy or accessing training and employment, your work will focus on realistic, sustainable progress.
Day to day, you’ll build trusted relationships whilst maintaining professional boundaries. You’ll collaborate with internal teams and external partners to coordinate the right support at the right time, ensuring residents are prepared for successful move-on. You’ll keep accurate records, respond calmly in challenging situations and contribute to a psychologically informed environment where people feel respected and motivated to change.

By helping residents move from crisis towards stability, you’ll play a key part in freeing up hostel spaces for others in urgent need and strengthening SHP’s mission to end homelessness for good. • Supporting the customer to communicate their wants and needs, and communicating with them in a person-centred way;
• Supporting the customer to manage their anxieties and frustrations, using Positive Behaviour Support and Autism-specific approaches;
• Collating a range of behavioural data and essential paperwork to be analysed within our local management structure;
• Driving the customer to activities using the customer’s vehicle, in rotation with the wider team;
• Communicating with family members and a range of other key stakeholders including social work, psychology and commissioning teams;
• Acting in accordance with the policies and procedures of Look Ahead Care & Support plus those specific to the service including any statutory requirements;
• Consistently reviewing the customer’s life goals and their progress towards achieving them, in partnership with them and those important to them;
• Supporting the customer with personal care;
• Reporting any observations relating to customer welfare;
• Maintaining records as required at the project;
• Participating in team meetings/reviews, support planning, risk management and the general development of the service;
• Undertaking any other duties as requested by management

Mind in Havering, Barking & Dagenham is looking for a passionate and committed person to join our Advocacy Service, supporting vulnerable adults to understand their rights, express their views and have a say in important decisions about their lives.
We have one vacancy available, with the appointment level dependent on your existing qualifications and experience.
If you hold the required National Advocacy Qualification and relevant IMCA/DoLS training, you will be appointed as an Independent Mental Capacity Advocate (IMCA) / Community Advocate, earning £28,954 per annum (£17.40 per hour) for 32 hours per week.
If you have the right skills and experience but are not yet qualified, you may be appointed as an Advocacy Project Worker at £15.81 per hour, with support and a clear route to work towards the National Advocacy Qualification.

You’ll work primarily across our volunteering and emergency response activity, including helping to develop and deliver Salford CVS’s own active communities volunteering programmes. This will vary throughout the year, but you can expect to spend roughly half your time on emergency response and half on volunteering - and in practice, the two often overlap.
Main purposes of the post
To engage with a wide range of partners and volunteers to build active, more connected and resilient communities within the city of Salford. To deliver multiple areas of work around civil contingencies, humanitarian response and emergency response in Salford – from coordinating clear plans and processes and training and supporting volunteers, to enabling VCSE organisations to engage with the work.
