Location: Based within HMP Forest Bank, Greater Manchester. About the Role

We’re hiring a Safe Ground Family Counsellor to support men in custody at HMP Forest Bank, located in Manchester.

As a Family Counsellor, you will identify the needs of men and their families in custody , providing anti-punitive, anti-shame, tailored support to maintain and grow family ties for individuals whilst in custody . You will deliver person centred therapeutic support through group, one-to-one and triage sessions, helping participants improve relationships, develop emotional awareness, and build healthier communication. The role includes family counselling clinics, group programme support, and joint work with prison teams and external partners. You will work in a trauma-informed way to support rehabilitation and strengthen family connections. Key Responsibilities Include:

• Support men who may be facing challenges with family relationships, father-child contact, emotional regulation, trauma, communication difficulties and maintaining positive relationships during custody

• Deliver group and one-to-one counselling sessions, as well as facilitating family counselling clinics

• Support full time delivery of programmes such as Fathers Inside and Man Up, which have received national recognition and are delivered across custodial and community settings

• Create and maintain tailored support plans

• Work with prison teams and external partners to coordinate support
• Bespoke training and active learning will be provided

• Support participants to improve relationships and emotional regulation

• Monitor wellbeing and respond to safeguarding concerns

• Maintain accurate records on internal systems

• Lone working as part of a wider team

About You

We’re looking for a compassionate and motivated individual who understands the needs of men in custody, the importance of anti-shame and anti-punitive practice in these systems, and the importance of family relationships in supporting rehabilitation. You will be comfortable working in a custodial environment and able to build trust with individuals from a range of backgrounds. You will be proactive in managing your workload, able to adapt within a busy service, and confident working both independently and as part of a wider team, often challenging prison cultures. You will be keen to support men in custody to achieve their individual goals and support them to be the best versions of themselves.

• Experience supporting people with trauma, relationship challenges, or within the criminal justice system with BACP registration or equivalent professional accreditation

• Ability to engage with people from different backgrounds, build rapport and support them to achieve their personal goals

• Ability to show empathy and understanding of the challenges people face and adapt approaches to meet individual needs

• Confidence delivering both one-to-one and group-based support

• Ability to work collaboratively with a range of professionals and services, often challenging punitive approaches

• Ability to use, learn and adapt to IT at an intermediate level, including Microsoft and other software programs

• Ability and willingness to be flexible in working patterns to meet service needs

• Understanding of the different needs people with multiple and complex needs have and be aware of the social marginalisation that can be attached to people who face personal challenges

We’re hiring a Safe Ground Programme Facilitator to join our team based at HMP Forest Bank. In this role, you will support men in custody by delivering arts-based, therapeutically informed group interventions that explore identity, relationships, and behaviour.

As a Programme Facilitator, you will support the delivery of Safe Ground’s core programmes, including Fathers Inside and Man Up which have received national recognition being delivered nationally across custodial and community settings. You will work closely with colleagues to facilitate structured group sessions, encourage participant engagement, and ensure sessions are well prepared and consistently delivered. You’ll use creative approaches such as theatre, writing and participatory exercises to help participants reflect and engage in a meaningful way. Working within a remand prison setting, you will need to build trust quickly, respond to complex group dynamics, and maintain clear boundaries in a fast-paced, unpredictable environment

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Previous experience within a prison or other criminal justice setting and/or within a similar role

• Support delivery of structured group programmes, including Fathers Inside and Man Up which have received national recognition being delivered nationally across custodial and community settings.

• Leading in facilitating arts-based, therapeutically informed group sessions

• Build rapport and trust with participants, supporting consistent engagement

• Respond appropriately to group dynamics and behaviour in a custodial setting

• Bespoke training and active learning will be provided

• Support session planning, preparation, and coordination of delivery

• Contribute to creative practice through theatre, writing and participatory methods

You’ll play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of our research grant programmes across the entire funding cycle, from application and peer review through to award management and post-award administration. We’re looking for a confident communicator, with strong organisational skills, who’ll use their own initiative and ability to manage a varied workload. You’ll be motivated by ensuring our robust processes are followed to provide the best possible experience for CCLG-supported researchers, and ultimately that the highest quality research that will make an impact for children and young people with cancer is funded. You’ll be able to contribute to the continual development of our research programme to drive improvements. You’ll have a good understanding of research grants and funding processes, as well as an understanding of academic research environments in the UK, paired with a good understanding of a relevant biomedical science discipline through a degree or experience.

This role is offered on either a remote working basis, with occasional travel to our Leicester office, or on a hybrid basis, with a minimum of two days per week in the Leicester office.
Hours for this role can be flexible - while advertised as full time, we would be willing to explore part-time employment (minimum 0.6FTE).

The role

As a Senior Coach you will be working on the frontline delivering high quality one-to-one support to a caseload of young people across London. You will support young people to recognise and capitalise on their strengths by taking a coaching approach. You will work with young people who have been identified as having higher support needs and be proactive in taking steps to manage risk across your caseload. We are looking for a Senior Coach who can lead on demonstrating best practice across the coaching team and support the Programme Management Team to maintain an excellent standard of support.  You will use your insight and experience to act as a mentor to new coaches and support coaching colleagues in their practice, and to look to actively improve our support offer in collaboration with other Senior Coaches and Programme Managers. We are looking for someone who is compassionate in their work with others and celebrates examples of good practice whilst highlighting where there are areas for improvement, approaching this in a collaborative way.

You will draw on your experience to build and strengthen relationships with external professionals and develop Settle’s network across the boroughs where young people live. 

What we're looking for

We are looking for a driven, experienced individual, with the relevant skills to provide high quality support to a caseload of young people and ensure we give the very best we can. We are interested in someone who has a good grounding in a related frontline service and experience of proactively managing a caseload, collecting high quality data and keeping accurate notes. You will have the ability to take initiative and be comfortable flexing your priorities to support young people alongside holding Settle’s strategic goals.

You will be comfortable managing a level of heightened risk with the young people you are supporting, keeping timely and high-quality records, liaising with other professionals from a range of backgrounds, and providing support to colleagues to work towards positive outcomes for young people. You will have experience in managing safeguarding concerns well and thrive in the ups and downs of support-based work.

Overall, we are looking for a compassionate frontline worker, with an understanding of the value in coaching, and who has a level head at times of crisis. You are not afraid of shying away from difficult conversations and will challenge others appropriately to help them see a different perspective or viewpoint, always holding young people at the centre of your work.

This is a part-time role in a well-established charity based in Twickenham. This role would suit someone who wants to have the opportunity to work flexibly and build their career in the Charity sector with experience of working in social care. 

This is a part-time role, however these is the opportunity for it to be full-time up to end of March 2027. We can discuss this more at the interview stage. The role is due to start early September.

Richmond Carers Centre, a network partner of the Carers Trust, is a registered charity providing information, support, advice and a voice for carers living and caring in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames. 

Helping Carers to Live Well is our organisational aim. We provide a targeted service to young carers, aged 5 – 18 years. Young carers, provide vital emotional and practical support to a family member with a care need including sibling young carers. Their care role can have an impact on their wellbeing, education and social opportunities. We are looking for someone with the skills and ability to offer a coordinated approach in supporting young carers in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames.

As a Young Carers Support Worker, you will be part of a small, dedicated team and take a lead on providing emotional support to young carers and a commitment to enhancing their wellbeing. The role supports in the direct delivery of a range of services to young carers including information and advice, emotional support, a mentoring programme, signposting and referrals to other specialist organisations. As part of the Young Carers Support Team, you will also be involved in the planning and delivery of an extensive programme of leisure break activities for young carers, both term-time and in the school holidays. Part of the role will also aim to improve the identification, recognition and understanding of the needs of young carers, raise the profile of young carers and ensure young carers needs are met. Using all your skills, you will work with the team to deliver, review, and continually develop services for young carers and to use appropriate monitoring and evaluation reports to show our funders what we’ve achieved.

You will be someone:

· Who works in a person-centred way.

· Is enthusiastic, empathetic and detail conscious

· Communicates well by phone and in person

· Has an understanding of social care particularly in relation to young carers

· Has experience of working with clients who have support needs

· Has experience of producing reports for monitoring and evaluation

· Has good communication skills including spoken, written and presentational

Main Duties include:

· To provide regular emotional support to young carers and their families through a range of methods, offering appropriate, generic advice

· To provide individual support to young carers, and sibling young carers on a case-by-case basis towards established outcomes through delivery of a mentoring programme

· To be proactive in the identification and registration of young carers, which will include conducting internal assessments of their caring role and responsibilities and identifying support needs

· To support with the planning and participate in the delivery of young carers group activities and events

· To work with schools, voluntary organisations, statutory services, health services and others to raise awareness and identify young carers

· To keep accurate records of group and individual young carer engagement for monitoring and evaluation purposes

· To participate in key events organised by Richmond Carers Centre and other relevant partners to promote services to a wider public

This is a great opportunity to support local communities, working with Adult Carers and Young Adult Carers and helping them to make informed choices, build confidence, sustain their independence, and access support that meets their individual needs. You will carry out assessments to understand people’s individual circumstances and level of need, working together to co-produce support plans. This will involve meeting Carers in community settings and conducting home visits. The team also facilities coffee mornings and activities offering Carers opportunities for peer support and to take a break from caring.

You’ll build on your local knowledge to signpost and facilitate access for Carers to support services, including financial and benefit advice, housing, health and safety home systems, and leisure and social activities. You will support the development of escalation plans so that Carers are prepared for unforeseen circumstances that would impact negatively on ability to care.
