Here at the Royal Brompton & Harefield Hospital Charity we fund, facilitate and champion world-class specialists to transform the lives of heart and lung patients. We provide clinicians, academics and researchers across London and beyond with the funding and resources they need to understand more, prevent more and treat more.

Our funding comes from the fundraising efforts of thousands of supporters as well as income generated by our investments in property and equity markets. We currently grant around £6 million each year – but we want to do more.
 
What you'll be doing
 
We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Programmes & Funding Officer to play a central role in providing administrative and operational support for the Charity's Special Purpose Funds (SPFs). This position is vital to ensure that all activity is recorded accurately, that systems run smoothly and stakeholders receive an exceptional level of support.
 
You will contribute to the development and delivery of a bespoke fundholder service, enabling fundholders to maximise the impact of their SPFs in advancing care for heart and lung patients.

The Fundraising Manager is a key role responsible for securing the income that will allow Merton Giving to fulfil its ambitions. 

Who We Are

Merton Connected strengthens the voluntary, community and faith sector and supports charitable organisations across the borough through training, advice, volunteering and partnership building. We pioneered social prescribing in Merton, now embedded in every GP practice for over a decade. We also deliver Healthwatch Merton, the Home Visits Library and Merton Giving.

Merton Giving is our collaborative grant-giving programme through which we work with local people and organisations to raise funds that are distributed to local community organisations to tackle issues identified by local people. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Fundraising and Strategy

• Work with the Strategic Lead to develop and implement a fundraising strategy, including agreed income targets)
• Proactively build and manage a solid pipeline of funding applications and approaches.
• Establish, cultivate, and maintain strong relationships with potential and existing funders, including corporates, trusts & foundations, high-net-worth individuals and the statutory sector.
• Work with the Strategic Lead to identify and take opportunities to engage and develop relationships with Merton’s businesses and High Net Worth individuals.
• Work with the Merton Connected team to explore how to maximise sector benefit from corporate volunteering and in-kind support.

Publicity and marketing

• Promote Merton Giving to stakeholders through producing promotional material, maintaining the website, and social media
• Run events and identify opportunities to promote Merton Giving, especially to businesses and HNWs
• Work with the Grants Manager to collect impact stories from grant recipients for publicity

Partnership Development

• Work with the Strategic Lead to develop partnerships, and identify opportunities for added value and mutual benefit, such as promoting Merton Giving through the Council’s payroll giving scheme.
• Act as an ambassador for Merton Giving, representing the organisation at external events and meetings

Additional Responsibilities

The opportunity

In recent years, some of the biggest problems in the world have gotten worse.

• The decades-long decline in extreme poverty has slowed.

GWWC has over 5,000 UK donors. £12.5M came from the top 300 alone in 2025. Despite this, there has been virtually no proactive relationship management. We believe there's huge potential to increase this figure with dedicated, high-quality donor stewardship.

London is GWWC's largest concentration of community members: over 2,600 CRM contacts and over 500 active pledgers. It's the natural centre of gravity for events and in-person engagement, with a rich ecosystem of high-net-worth individuals aligned with effective giving.
 

What you'll do

Build deep, lasting relationships with donors and pledgers. You'll proactively manage a portfolio of GWWC's highest-value community members through 1:1 meetings, calls, and thoughtful follow-up. Expect 8 to 10 meaningful conversations per week: coffees, dinners, calls.

Guide donors toward the highest-impact giving. Think of it as philanthropic advising. You're helping people think through where their giving goes furthest, directing generosity toward GWWC-recommended, evidence-backed charities. You'll also inspire people to give more, helping them see why giving more significantly and effectively can transform the impact they have with their donations.

Run high-quality donor events. Intimate dinners, networking evenings, and community gatherings. You'll have an events budget and the freedom to experiment with formats that build connection.

Re-engage lapsed and non-reporting donors. When someone takes a pledge with GWWC, they commit to giving 10% of their income to effective charities. Some donors give through our platform (where we can track it), while others give directly to charities and report it back to us. Over time, many stop doing either: our data shows recording rates drop from 60% in year one to just 22% by year five without any proactive engagement. These aren't necessarily people who've stopped caring; many have simply drifted without anyone checking in. A single outreach test to 369 lapsed donors recovered $2.3M in reported donations. You'll do this systematically, bringing recording rates to around 70% for the group of people you're engaging with.

Inspire warm leads to take a giving pledge. Follow up with people who've attended events, expressed interest, or sit in our CRM but haven't yet committed. We expect approximately 80 new pledges per year from this work.

Build the strategy. You'll build the strategy in partnership with your counterpart in the San Francisco Bay Area. This is a joint endeavour: together you'll develop the model for how GWWC does donor engagement, then adapt it for each geography to replicate globally.
 

What we're looking for

A social chameleon with high EQ. You can read a room and calibrate, holding your own at a black-tie dinner or a casual coffee with equal ease. Different donors need different things; you instinctively know which register to use.

Energised by getting out there. You're the kind of person who'd rather have ten meetings in a week than five. You want to be out in the world, meeting people, opening doors, and building relationships. Some weeks half your outreach will go unanswered, and that doesn't slow you down.

Highly organised and strategic. You're able to use a CRM to maximise the number and quality of interactions you have, thinking strategically about how to invest the most time on the highest-potential opportunities, whether that's inspiring new donors or stewarding existing ones to give more.

Super agentic. Give you KPI targets and a CRM and you'll build the strategy from there. You're the kind of person who doesn't need to be told what to do next, you just see what needs doing and get on with it.

You really care deeply about these issues. You find the core questions of effective giving compelling. You can talk about why cost-effectiveness matters without sounding robotic, and you come across as authentic because you actually care about these issues.

5+ years of relevant experience. In fundraising, philanthropy, donor stewardship, major gifts, high-touch relationship management, or senior sales and partnerships. We care about what you can do, not credentials, but this is a senior role that requires demonstrated experience.
 

Nice to haves

We definitely don't expect any candidate to have all of these.

• Experience or familiarity with global catastrophic risks, global health and wellbeing, or animal welfare as cause areas
• Experience in the effective altruism or effective giving ecosystem
• Experience running or hosting donor events
• Experience with HubSpot specifically (CRM proficiency is essential, but HubSpot experience is a bonus)
• Understanding of UK tax-efficient giving (Gift Aid, share donations via ShareGift, payroll giving)
• Being a GWWC pledger yourself
• People management aptitude (you may grow a small team over time)
   

Compensation and benefits

This role will involve supporting and empowering LGBT survivors of sexual violence to overcome the impacts of abuse and violence. It will focus on working with LGBT survivors in need of emotional and practical support.
 
You will offer a space to victim/survivors to discuss options and provide support to enable clients to make informed choices and meet their individual needs. This will include safety planning and linking victim/survivors in with support services. You will work collaboratively with other services to ensure a multi-agency approach is taken to supporting LGBT people victim/survivors of sexual violence.
 
You will be empathetic and thoughtful in your approach to understand your clients’ needs, whilst remaining boundaried and mindful or self-care. Your work will enable LGBT people to feel supported, heard and empowered in the face of abuse and violence.
 
You will work within Galop’s Advocacy and Support team supporting LGBT people facing abuse or violence. You will work with colleagues to ensure that survivors are supported in a trauma-sensitive way and that the specific needs of sexual violence survivors are supported across the team. You will have an in depth understanding of the spectrum of violence and abuse that LGBT people are subjected to, including the causes, impact and barriers to accessing services.

About Tadamon

Since the start of the genocide in Gaza, more than 1,300 Palestinians have arrived in Britain, with many hundreds more expected over the coming months and years. Some have arrived via boats and others as students or visitors unable to return home and forced to apply for asylum. Added to this are increasing numbers of students, injured children and their families who have been evacuated directly from Gaza to Britain.

Upon arrival they in dire need of support, but often instead find a hostile environment and a charitable sector decimated by legal aid cuts and with limited capacity to assist them. The support that is available has been provided on an ad hoc basis by the Palestinian community and other migrant and faith organisations.

Tadamon aims to formalise much of this ad hoc support, by extending more structured provisions for supporting the Palestinian community in Britain – particularly newly arrived Palestinian refugees and those from Gaza – through casework, community services, access to legal resources, advice and advocacy, mental health support, cultural connection, employment, language and skills training.

Purpose of the Role

Tadamon is seeking an experienced and compassionate Community Caseworker to join our small and growing team.

The postholder will work directly with Palestinian new arrivals, including asylum seekers, refugees, students unable to return home and evacuees from Gaza. Many of our community members are navigating trauma, loss, displacement and complex immigration processes.

The purpose of the role is to:

• Provide holistic, high-quality casework support and advocacy.
• Ensure community members can access safe housing, legal representation (via referral), healthcare, education and welfare support.
• Reduce isolation and strengthen community engagement.
• Support Tadamon’s volunteers and mentors to deliver coordinated and culturally grounded support.
• Contribute to Tadamon’s development as a new and growing charity.

This role does not involve the provision of any regulated immigration advice or medical advice. The caseworker will provide information, advocacy and referrals to appropriately regulated legal and medical professionals.

Tadamon is committed to building internal immigration advice capacity. We are keen to support the successful candidate, where appropriate, to work towards accreditation with the Immigration Advice Authority (IAA), subject to organisational need and funding, and in line with relevant regulatory requirements which we hope to work towards meeting in due course.

Key Responsibilities

Casework & Direct Support

1. Build positive, professional and trusting relationships with community members, ensuring a culturally sensitive and trauma-informed approach to casework.
2. Conduct comprehensive needs assessments and co-produce tailored support plans addressing immediate and longer-term needs.
3. Provide holistic casework support, including:
   • Support with accessing safe and stable housing.
   • Assistance with GP registration and navigating NHS services (without providing medical advice).
   • Support to access education, ESOL, employment and training opportunities.
   • Support accessing welfare benefits, access to our hardship fund, and financial assistance where eligible.
   • Referral to qualified immigration advisers and solicitors for legal advice.
4. Advocate (with informed consent) on behalf of community members with local authorities, housing providers, schools, healthcare providers, solicitors and other statutory or voluntary agencies.
5. Accompany community members to key appointments where appropriate and capacity allows.
6. Support individuals who may be at risk or in crisis, escalating safeguarding concerns in line with policy.

Community & Partnership Working

1. Encourage community members’ participation in Tadamon’s events, peer support initiatives and community activities to reduce isolation and strengthen connection.
2. Build and maintain effective partnerships with local authorities, legal providers, health services, community organisations and other stakeholders.
3. Contribute to the development of structured community initiatives and culturally appropriate support models for Palestinians in the UK.

Organisational Development

1. Maintain accurate and timely case records using Tadamon’s case management system in line with GDPR and data protection legislation.
2. Contribute to monitoring, evaluation and reporting requirements, including providing anonymised case studies and data.
3. Attend supervision, team meetings and appraisals.
4. Take initiative in pursuing relevant training, including maintaining up-to-date knowledge of UK asylum, immigration and welfare systems.
5. Where agreed, work towards IAA accreditation to support Tadamon in building regulated immigration advice capacity (training and supervision support to be discussed).
6. Comply with all Tadamon policies and procedures, including safeguarding, confidentiality, equality, diversity and inclusion, and health and safety.
7. Undertake other duties appropriate to the role as the organisation grows.

Person specification

The ideal candidate will be an Arabic speaker, and will have a minimum of three years’ experience as a caseworker. They must bring energy and determination to the role and must be committed to working in collaboration with community members who may be at high risk or in crisis.

The ideal candidate will possess a proven ability to manage a complex caseload and the desire to work as a member of a small team to protect and promote the interests of some of the Palestinian community through the provision of support to the individuals we seek to support.

The ideal candidate will be committed to the achievement of Tadamon’s long-term goals and will be passionate about ensuring that our community members can access the resources they need and feel seen, heard and supported in doing so.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience in carrying out casework with children, young adults, and vulnerable adults, including supporting and safeguarding individuals with complex needs.

Complaints Disciplinary Panel

Role Description

Purpose of the Role

To be part of a Panel Pool, from which Disciplinary Panels will be convened by the Chartered Institute of Fundraising (CIOF) Professional Conduct Committee.

To consider complaints with reference to the CIOF Member Code of Conduct and the Code of Behaviour at events, consistent with the CIOF Complaints & Disciplinary Rules. 

Accountability

Panels will be convened as needed by the Professional Conduct Committee.  Panel Pool members are appointed to a Panel by the Committee. 

Panel decisions must follow the CIOF Complaints & Disciplinary Rules, including definitions, scope, procedures, and available sanctions. 

Key Responsibilities

• Review case files, investigation reports, submissions, and evidence in advance of hearings. 
• Participate in hearings (virtual or in person), ensuring parties are treated fairly and respectfully. 
• Assess evidence against the CIOF Member Code of Conduct, CIOF Code of Behaviour at Events and Training, and any other relevant provisions, such as findings of the Fundraising Regulator. 
• Determine findings of fact and whether standards/rules have been breached. Where appropriate, apply appropriate sanctions per the Complaints and Disciplinary Rules, considering proportionality and precedent. 
• Provide clear, reasoned written outcomes and recommendations, mindful of publication protocols and confidentiality. 
• Maintain strict confidentiality.

• An understanding of the UK fundraising sector.

Time Commitment

Term & status

Appointment is to the Panel pool for a fixed term of three years, renewable once by agreement, with allocation to specific Panels on a case-by-case basis. 

Full training will be provided.

Remuneration

This is an independent contractor role. Panel members will be remunerated for their time spent on Panel activity, including training, at a daily rate of £300 per day.

Reasonable expenses will be reimbursed in line with CIoF policy.
