Glasspool is a UK-wide grant funder, established in 1939 with a permanent endowment from Richard Louveteau Glasspool, a Hertfordshire businessman and philanthropist. He experienced financial hardship as a young man, but when his income became more than enough to meet his personal needs, he started to provide financial support to individuals. He died in 1949, aged 65, but his legacy lives on in the Glasspool Charity Trust.

The charity was named the Association of Charitable Organisations (ACO) Charity of the Year in 2024 in recognition of our courageous and transformative approach to grant-making.

Job Title: Housing Support Worker

Location: Non residential service which is based in Brent (Close to the Civic Centre), you will provide support based in the main office and in the wider community, including homes

Salary: £27,000

Shift Pattern: 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday on a rota which can range between 08:00 - 16:00, 09:00 - 17:00 and 10:00 - 18:00. You may be required to work outside these hours dependant on service and participant requirements. 

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to support individuals with multiple, complex needs on their journey towards recovery, reablement, and independence, all within a compassionate, trauma-informed environment.

In this role, you'll be at the  heart of delivering high-quality, person-centered support to vulnerable adults who have been or are at risk of homelessness. They are identified as having low/medium support needs. You will create tailored support plans to provide practical interventions, to empower our participants to overcome personal challenges, develop life skills, and achieve their personal goals. You will also work closely in partnership with various organisations to support the different needs of our participants, which may include signposting. • Single homeless individuals between ages of 18 to 60

The Involvement and Engagement team at Alzheimer’s Research UK is responsible for delivering a wide portfolio of activities to increase understanding of dementia, engage and involve the public and people affected by dementia with research and promote the work of Alzheimer’s Research UK. The team work closely with people affected by dementia to gather their insights to shape our work and campaigns. 

The team is part of the Information and Involvement department. The department’s mission is to improve understanding of dementia and the diseases which cause it and encourage and support the public and people affected by dementia to get involved in research.

The manager leads on the development of a wide range of activities, such as coordinating meetings with the Lived Experience Involvement Group; the online public engagement programme; and managing the Inspire Fund community engagement grant scheme. The role has responsibility for monitoring, evaluating, and reporting on the impact of the public involvement and engagement programme. In addition, the role holder will identify improvements and undertake strategy development and implementation working with the Head of the Department to deliver this.

Reporting to the Head of Information and Involvement, the Manager has two line reports, and the team works closely with colleagues across the Policy, Communications and Involvement Directorate, notably the Information Services and Policy teams. The team also has regular interactions with people affected by dementia and supports the wider charity in engaging effectively with supporters about dementia research. They work closely with colleagues in the Research and Partnerships directorate, and Volunteering and Events teams to deliver activities.

This is a 12-month fixed term contract to cover a period of maternity leave. This role will be known internally as Involvement and Engagement Manager

Main duties and responsibilities of the role:

Lead the Involvement and Engagement team

· Work with the Head of Information and Involvement to plan and implement involvement and engagement programmes to support the development of the charity’s goals.

· Implement the Involvement and Engagement strategy for Alzheimer’s Research UK, ensuring a varied portfolio of opportunities, with a focus on reaching diverse and underserved audiences.

· Line manage two Involvement and Engagement Officers, setting objectives, with responsibility for their personal growth and development, and that of the team.

Implement the involvement of lived experience across the organisation

· Lead the management of the charity’s Lived Experience Involvement Group, overseeing the recruitment, onboarding and ongoing engagement of volunteers with lived experience of dementia.

· Lead and manage the planning of involvement activity, including a calendar of events and activities for the lived experience group, to include regular online meetings, in person events, and opportunities to contribute to ARUKs strategic initiatives and campaigns.

· Responsible for ongoing monitoring and evaluation of involvement activities, ensuring volunteers are aware of their impact, communicating impact of involvement both internally and externally to the organisation.

· Responsible for championing the value and impact of involvement across the organisation, seeking new involvement opportunities and working towards embedding involvement in key areas of the charities work.

· Work closely with and support the Research Involvement Manager with implementing involvement of lived experience in research programmes, also with external requests for support with involvement in research.

· Ensure processes to manage a database of lived experience volunteers are robust and up to date and that policies and procedures are adhered to.

Deliver public engagement programmes and activities

· Deliver the Inspire Fund community engagement grant scheme, managing the application and awards process, monitoring ongoing grants, supporting grant holders and reporting on impact.

· Oversee the planning and coordination of the public engagement events programme, including supporting the Involvement and Engagement Officer with delivery of the online public engagement series and other events.

· Working closely with colleagues in the Research team support and facilitate dementia researchers to deliver public engagement activities, providing guidance and resources as required.

· Work with the Involvement and Engagement Officers to maintain existing engagement resources and promote their use across the charity. Develop new engagement resources that can be used across a variety of events.

· Support colleagues across ARUK to build skills and confidence talking about dementia and research, and how to engage with their audiences.

What we are looking for:

· Graduate or equivalent level of education in biomedical sciences, science communication or similar.

· Experience of discussing and communicating health or research matters to the public.

· Experience of working with people affected by a long-term health condition and supporting their contributions to organisational activities or research.

· Experience of leading outreach, engagement and involvement/or involving the public with research.

· Strong experience of planning, coordinating, and delivering involvement and engagement events.

· Relevant project management experience.

· Experience working in an involvement, engagement, or public facing role or similar.

· Experience of working across partnerships, building strong working relationships (internally and externally).

· Strong and effective written and spoken communication skills, ability to tailor to lay audiences.

· Good knowledge of the research process and how the public can play a part in that process.

· Knowledge and understanding of engagement and involvement methods drawn from academia, health research or the charity sector.

· Ability to identify and develop creative opportunities for public engagement and involvement and discussion emanating from scientific research.

· An eye for creativity and innovation, and ability to grow personal network of professional contacts and create new opportunities for engagement and involvement.

· Excellent organisational skills; the ability to manage a number and variety of tasks to multiple deadlines.

· Ability to communicate appropriately with people affected by dementia and their families.

· Willingness and ability to travel independently in the UK occasionally and to work outside of regular office hours when needed.

· A confident, friendly and professional attitude; would feel at ease representing the charity to a range of audiences.

· Working with independence, intelligence, drive and initiative.

Additional Information:

Ways of working: As part of our Agile ways of working you will be required to work approximately 2 days a week from the office, which is subject to the requirements of the role and the business needs. Flexibility on where you work can be split between working from home and our office.

Key Responsibilities

Relationship Management

• Provide tailored, high-quality stewardship to a range of large and medium-sized Trusts & Foundations.
• Identify and pursue new funding opportunities and build relationships with new Trusts and Foundations to further grow this income stream.
• Prioritise research to constantly develop future pipeline.
• Work with Head of Philanthropy and other senior stakeholders in engaging potential funders and managing strategic Trusts & Statutory partners.

Write applications and reports

• Develop compelling funding applications for Trusts and occasionally statutory funders, articulating Resurgo's vision and strategy to persuasively engage new donors with a focus on raising five and six-figure grants.
• Stay ahead of sector trends, media, and political context to market Resurgo's interventions in a compelling way.
• Develop general communications on the work of Resurgo to inspire and update our Trust audience.
• Produce reports and updates on the impact of our work for funders in a timely manner. 

Data Management and Monitoring

• Update our internal database (Salesforce) with all donor interactions, donations and other details ina timely and efficient manner and with strong attention to detail, and analyse data to give insights' and drive future activity.
• Manage the Trusts & Foundations and Statutory pipelines and report on income and other KPIs, and ensure Trusts & Foundations team meets monthly targets and deadlines.

Line Management

• Actively manage and develop the Trusts & Foundations Executive to help them grow personally and in their role.

As part of the Regional Leadership team, you will be key to making decisions about structures, strategies and processes that will drive Regional Fundraising to be at the heart of the organisation.  You will manage three Regional Fundraising Managers and support the wider South team to deliver targets, recruit and retain supporters and raise awareness of our work in the local community.Although home based there are opportunities to attend events, offices, meet supporters and face to face meetings with peers and colleagues. About the role

We are seeking a Dual Diagnosis Worker who has a specialism in complex mental health and substance misuse to join our team in Croydon. This is a residential service which provides specialist mental health, complex needs, and dual diagnosis support to our residents. You will utilise your previous experience and knowledge, and provide specialist support to those who have been diagnosed with mental ill health and have challenges with substance use. You will deliver evidence-based interventions based on holistic assessments to support personalised recovery, integration, and promotion of independent living skills.

Within this role, you will act as a specialist for comorbidity, supporting the team to achieve positive outcomes for our residents. Some of the duties may include:

• Undertake joint holistic assessments, risk assessments, care plans, and interventions to support harm reduction and minimisation.
• Set up realistic and flexible strengths-based support plans, working closely with colleagues and support teams to support and advise on interventions and approaches to meet individual needs.
• Help reduce episodes of crisis and assist residents/participants to access services which can offer alternatives to crisis support.
• Work closely with support staff and clinical teams to support and advise them on interventions and approaches to meet resident/participant comorbid, complex mental health and substance misuse needs.
• Support multi-disciplinary teams and the wider community teams with support, advice, signposting, and move on care planning. 

About you

We’re looking for someone who has specialist knowledge on how to support individuals with comorbid and complex needs, with previous experience in a similar role. We look at individual characteristics to be able to show resilience, solve challenges, and be proactive in your approach. You will have a passion for supporting people to achieve their personal goals, and achieve positive outcomes, this includes having the ability to engage with people who may be hard to reach and engage with. We further are looking for someone who has:

• An appropriate qualification which is relevant to the role which could include: National Diploma, Bachelors, or master’s in psychology, Dual Diagnosis, Substance Misuse or any relevant
• Previous experience in a similar role, providing holistic assessments and support for people experiencing mental health challenges
• Applied knowledge of the principles of risk assessment and risk management, particularly in relation to harm minimisation.

The Workforce and Careers Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting the planning, development, and sustainability of the paediatric medical workforce across the UK. Working within the College’s Workforce and Careers team, you will lead and contribute to projects that ensure safe and sustainable services for children and young people by promoting paediatrics and supporting members throughout their careers.

You will be responsible for delivering a range of high-impact initiatives, including workforce research, service configuration guidance, career pathway support, and coordination of the College’s “Stepping Up” programme for new consultants. The role combines research, project planning, and stakeholder engagement with data analysis and policy alignment, requiring strong collaboration with clinicians, internal teams, and external partners.

Reporting to the Workforce Manager, you will produce research reports, develop guidance, and deliver case studies based on workforce trends and survey data. You’ll also play a key role in coordinating governance activities and ensuring the College’s advocacy work reflects workforce realities.

You will bring experience in research, health or education policy, and an understanding of project management principles, alongside excellent communication, organisational, and analytical skills. ST ALDATES and ACT CHARITY

St Aldates’ vision is to invite people to encounter Jesus, equip people to follow Jesus in every area of their lives, and envision people to transform their communities. We are pioneering new ways of discipling people to make a difference in every area of their lives. A vibrant church with a congregation of 1200+, we are passionate about connecting with and supporting people who are street homeless and those in or leaving local prisons.

As a city centre church, working alongside people who are poor or marginalised is a key part of our ministry and is carried out largely through Aldates Community Transformation Initiatives (ACT). ACT’s welcoming community offers support designed to help people find belonging, purpose and hope, which is carefully shaped to fit each individual’s needs. This includes street and prison outreach, community meals, mentoring and supported housing. 

ACT is a registered charity with a board of trustees drawn from within the church, including the Rector. We are a growing charity with seven salaried staff, and over 65 local volunteers. Staff are employed by St Aldates PCC and seconded to the ACT Charity.

At the heart of the charity is our ACT Family, a group of individuals living in our supported houses, and at varying stages of journeying towards independent living. We engage with these individuals on a relational basis through three main areas of support:

A community: regular opportunities to gather including a weekly breakfast and Bible study, small groups, social and vocational events, and an annual retreat.

A home: a safe, stable place in one of 11 ACT-managed properties in the city, and sustained 1:1 support from the team.

A mentor: regular sessions with a trained mentor to enable people to grow in confidence, skills and aspiration, including support to volunteer, study or find employment.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The Progression Coordinator is responsible for engaging directly with our core ACT Family residents of supported ACT houses and inspiring their ongoing development. A large part of this will be helping them develop the skills needed so they can move towards living independently. 

 Key Duties

The role is split into two key areas:

Support, coaching and progression for individuals living in our ACT houses:

• Working alongside the Housing Manager to build relationships with the ACT Family
• Inspiring residents to explore a pathway towards independent living
• Establishing Personal Development Plans (PDPs) in response to the needs of each individual
• Administratively holding and monitoring the progress of the PDPs
• Conducting regular reviews with each resident and updating PDPs accordingly
• Giving regular progress reports to the Housing Manager and Head of ACT 
• Managing relationships with all mentors, including monitoring their engagement with the ACT Family and identifying any opportunities or risks
• Organising mentor training and events as required
• Identifying training and deploying new mentors as required
• Maintaining relationships with ACT Family members who are moving out of ACT houses, ensuring they are equipped and supported as they move on
• Providing ad-hoc cover and support for the Housing Manager as required (e.g. holiday and sickness cover, as well as picking up some day-to-day tasks if required)

Outward engagement into the wider community:

• Ongoing engagement and relationship-building with the wider housing and charity sector in and around Oxford
• Creating strategic industry connections that help implement the PDPs, including but not limited to private landlords and agencies able to support progression out of ACT houses 
• Building connections with local employers willing and able to train or employ the residents
• Developing connections with local educational and vocational organisations able to support the residents
• Managing relevant existing relationships with local agencies as required
• Developing an active understanding of issues related to housing in Oxford

Person specification

Essential criteria
