Job description

Location: Cheshire West and Chester, hybrid with regular travel
Contract: Temporary, 3 months
Hours: Part-time, 21 hours per week
Pay: £14.30 per hour (+ £1.73 holiday pay)
Start Date: ASAP

Prospectus is delighted to be supporting our client, a national children's charity, in the search for a temporary Youth Advocate.

This role provides a fantastic opportunity for an experienced youth work professional to make an immediate and meaningful difference in an impactful organisation, supporting children and young people to ensure their voices are heard and their rights are upheld.

Please note that will the role is based around Chester and West Cheshire, the successful candidate must attend induction in Wythenshawe, Greater Manchester. This role also requires a valid driving licence and access to your own vehicle (with travel expensed). Please also be aware that this role will be subject to an enhanced DBS check due to the requirement to interact with vulnerable children unsupervised.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide independent and confidential advocacy support to children and young people, ensuring their views, wishes and feelings are heard and taken into account.
  • Manage a caseload of referrals, delivering information, advice, representation and practical support.
  • Empower children and young people to understand their rights and participate in decisions that affect their lives.
  • Represent and advocate on behalf of children and young people at meetings, reviews and other relevant forums.
  • Adapt communication styles and advocacy approaches to meet a range of individual needs, including those with disabilities or additional support requirements.
  • Deliver outreach activities and awareness sessions to promote access to advocacy services.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with professionals, carers and partner organisations to support positive outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate, timely and professional records in line with organisational policies and data protection requirements.
  • Contribute to service monitoring, evaluation and quality assurance activities, including collecting feedback and outcome data.
  • Identify and respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns, ensuring the welfare of children and young people remains paramount.
  • Promote children's rights and act as a positive ambassador for the organisation and its services.


Key Requirements:

  • Recent, relevant experience in a similar role, with excellent knowledge of advocacy, safeguarding, and relevant legislation.
  • High level of organisation and attention to detail, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the confidence to build strong stakeholder relationships.
  • Collaborative and proactive approach, with the capability to work both independently and in a team.
