PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

• To support the community work of Adoption UK Scotland community support services, to plan and deliver community events, provide professionals, parents/carers, children, and young people access to information, resources, and services and to engage with families in their local communities. 

• To offer a front-line service, primarily to adoptive and kinship families, and care experienced individuals and young people, by supporting delivery and administration for activities and events, including regular support groups delivery, youth and teens/young adults, and family events. Support of events across Scotland based on resources and availability.

• Support planning, organisation of, and attendance at, in person and online events through funded projects and services to bring together adopted and care-experienced individuals and young people and adoptive and kinship families, enable peer support, build a sense of community and promote an active and supportive Community Network. 

• To respond to enquiries received via the Information and Support Service and relevant email inboxes with relevant information and/or signposting.

• To be part of the wider communities within Adoption UK Scotland, working across teams and services.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Working alongside service leads within the communities team, and with the wider Adoption UK Scotland team members to plan and deliver specific events and activities for adoptive and kinship community members, and care experienced children and young people via our E Project youth service for children, teens and young adults.

• Provide administrative coordination for community event provision, including collating event materials, gathering feedback and evaluations for reporting purposes, supporting delivery of events, maintaining records using existing required systems, and responding to enquiries via our Information and Support line and relevant email inboxes.

• Working alongside Communications colleagues and across teams to ensure promotion of events to relevant target groups 

• Attending events to promote the wider work of AUK Scotland at conferences or support groups

• To hold responsibility for administrative requirements relating to community events, including setting up booking pages, sharing information via newsletters and social media, and recording service delivery interactions, using existing Adoption UK systems and processes

• To work with colleagues in the Foundations for Families kinship support service to support delivery and coordinate activities between services where appropriate.

• To report to line manager and directors in Adoption UK Scotland relating to service delivery, including contributing to monitoring and reporting on activities. 

• To work alongside Adoption UK colleagues to develop and improve resources and services for our communities.

About the role

Our exciting three year strategy sets out our ambitious goals to drive impact at scale for victim-survivors. We are now looking for an exceptional candidate to lead some of our financial services relationships and consultancy work and support SEA in its mission to raise awareness of economic abuse and transform responses to it within the financial services sector.

Working closely with colleagues across SEA, you will foster and maintain relationships across the financial services sector, seeking opportunities to generate income for the charity and supporting our Head of Financial Services to deliver lasting change and impact.

Together we can transform frontline financial services, in practice, product and process, and save lives.

About you

At SEA we put the lived experience of victim-survivors at the heart of all that we do, including our work with financial services firms. You will be a subject matter expert on customer vulnerability and financial services firms’ regulatory requirements, as well as having a thorough understanding of industry rules and good practice. You will combine this with experience of working with vulnerable customers, including victim-survivors and bring expertise on economic abuse to ensure this is embedded within financial services’ firms’ responses.

What You’ll Do:  

As our Head of Marketing, you will drive the League’s brand marketing and digital work. You will provide leadership for our Digital and Brand & Creative teams, overseeing our development of marketing collateral including our website, social media, and printed materials. You also manage brand and marketing projects and activities, including the tracking of audience insights and the development of our target audience profiles, and you will be responsible for the League’s ambassador programme.

In this role, you will play a key role in ensuring that our campaigns, communications and fundraising activity are aligned, effective and rooted in strong audience insight. You will also deputise for our Director of Fundraising and Marketing as required.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Provide day-to-day leadership for the League’s Marketing teams (encompassing its Digital and Brand & Creative teams) and all their activities, including the development and delivery of brand, marketing and social media materials and campaigns, to maximise awareness and support for the charity.
• Provide inspiring leadership to manage and motivate staff to deliver on their targets, by ensuring they have clear objectives, key performance indicators (KPIs) and development plans.
• Coordinate creative support to all teams, particularly Campaigns and Fundraising.
• Manage assigned marketing and awareness projects (e.g. the Business Without Bloodsports Pledge), to drive support for our work.
• Manage the development and use of our key target audience profiles.
• Manage the League’s Ambassador programme, of celebrity supporters and high-profile influencers.
• Oversee brand guardianship across all channels, both offline and online, to ensure all collateral adheres to guidelines.
• Manage our brand guidelines including visual and verbal identity, to drive consistency throughout the League.
• Conduct supporter research as required, including to test and develop new initiatives

The role

The post holder will work alongside our Co-Executive Director, Head of Legal and Legal Administrator in developing and managing Foxglove’s legal work. You will develop and drive forward a significant number and range of cases, including the development of case theories, investigating and collecting evidence, drafting correspondence, evidence and submissions. You will also be responsible for coordinating and managing external legal teams, in multiple jurisdictions. This will require you to have the comfort and ability to navigate diverse settings, while also having the insight to weigh up the benefits and challenges of pursuing cases in different jurisdictions. You will serve as an external representative for Foxglove’s work, writing and speaking on topics of relevance. You will also be a sparring partner for others in the team, bringing a creative mindset and political savviness. UK and international travel are required. Flexibility with working hours will sometimes be needed.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Case Development and Management

• Build connections, and listen to affected communities, unearth and pursue issues caused by tech injustice, coming up with innovative legal solutions.

Person Specification

Essential

• Substantial experience in legal practice and conducting litigation and a demonstrated understanding of litigation strategies.
• Creative thinking and imagination.
• A strong interest in using the law to hold governments and companies to account.
• Qualified lawyer in any jurisdiction with at least 10 years of legal experience.
• Significant experience in legal practice in the UK.  
• Demonstrable commitment to supporting marginalised communities to access justice.
• Ability to learn new areas of law quickly and develop new areas of work.
• Good political antennae and excellent relationship building and management skills.
• Experience conducting cases from initial advice through to trial.
• Relevant experience in analysing complex factual and legal situations and helping to advise clients in accordance with their aims.

• Experience in working on complex matters, which require analysis of large amounts of documents and data.

Length and Salary

The role is permanent. The annual salary is £88,400 per annum less any required deductions for income tax and national insurance.

Our team works remotely, and this role can be based anywhere. We would prefer you to work within or close to UK office hours, but this is flexible. Our team travels every two months for team days and twice a year for team retreats. This role will include significant UK and international travel. Only candidates with the right to work in their location will be considered.

You will provide appropriate emotional and practical 1-to-1 support to (those who identify as) women and non-binary people involved in sex work and those who are sexually exploited, who often experience stigma and face barriers to accessing services. You will be enabling people to access support and navigate services,  You will be working in partnership with other agencies and making appropriate referrals for people to access other services to support their wider needs. You will contribute to wider team responsibilities including outreach, drop in and duty. 

To provide appropriate emotional and practical support to women in the sex industry and/or those who are being sexually exploited with a specific focus on those who are homeless and experiencing domestic violence and abuse. The women we support require intensive practical and emotional support as well as support navigating health and other social care or criminal justice systems. The women will have poor mental or physical health, experience with homelessness and of the criminal justice system, are often victims of sexual and/or domestic abuse and many are homeless. This post specifically will include a focus on domestic violence, sexual exploitation, sexual violence and housing. Working within a harm reduction ethos prioritising women’s safety and wellbeing, the intensive personalized supported will help women to access other services making appropriate referrals for women who wish to make changes, including exiting/transitioning out of sex work. You will be responsible for ensuring that women with varying needs are supported effectively throughout their pathway of support with Basis and partners, advocating for and with the women you are working with including where necessary challenging stigma and judgement women face.

Therapeutic Management

• To manage and support a staff team, including the Head of Active Recovery, a Counselling Lead, Nexus Counselling Manager, a Family Support Group Facilitator, and administrators.

• To be the charity’s Designated Safeguarding Lead to respond effectively and efficiently to safeguarding concerns.

• To attend monthly one-to-one clinical supervision with a supervisor approved by the Southmead Project. (Supervision is a requirement of this charity as members of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy).

• To attend monthly one-to-one line management meetings.

• To work to the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy ethical guidelines.

• To work within the framework, spirit and ethos of the Southmead Project’s Equal Opportunities Policy, and actively engage in promoting the policy within the charity and in all dealings with clients and other agencies.

• All members of staff, paid and unpaid, are required to undergo the enhanced level of Disclosure and Barring Service check.

Person Specification

ESSENTIAL:

• Diploma in Counselling (British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) accredited course or equivalent); and to have BACP accreditation or be working towards BACP accreditation or equivalent.

• To be a registered member of BACP, UKCP, NCS or equivalent professional body, with over 5 years of supervised counselling experience.

• Significant experience of providing one-to-one counselling for survivors of abuse and carrying out initial assessments and risk assessments.

• Significant knowledge and understanding of the issues affecting this client group and the impact of trauma.

• Significant line management and appraisal experience with the ability to effectively co-ordinate a team. 

• The ability to support staff to foster a positive working environment and deliver a high quality of service.

About the role 

You will ensure you and your team will deliver high quality legal services and manage our Legal Aid Contract, with your main focus being on your own caseload and to manage and supervise the legal teams who are advocating for clients with housing issues, as well as bringing about systemic change. You will be dealing with personnel issues, providing professional support and supervision to your team, including but not limited to, independent file reviews (IFRs), time recording and good case management, as well as carrying your own caseload of housing litigation.

Contributing to the strategic direction of Shelter legal services nationally will be an important aspect of the role too, as will taking the lead on delivering strategic change aligned to Shelter’s strategy and ensuring Legal aid contract requirements and performance targets are met.

You will be able to identify test case opportunities to address systemic bad practice and so achieve change for a greater number of people and will work closely with the Head of Legal Services, the Hub Management Team and teams within Communications, Policy and Campaigns and Business Development. As a key member of the management team, you will also get to play your part in the management of our offices, including attending management team meetings and collaborating with other teams.

About you

1. You will be an experienced housing solicitor, court advocate, carrying your own caseload as well as managing and supervising others.

2.  You will have a minimum of 4 years post qualification legal practice experience

3. You will have supervisor status and have substantial knowledge of housing and homelessness law.

4. You are able to carry out research and policy analysis in the areas of housing, homeless and welfare law, produce reports and presentations.

Role Purpose

The Front of House & Security staff play a pivotal role within the Head Office of Mothers Union, called Mary Sumner House, acting as the primary point of contact for all visitors, tenants, and clients. This role is responsible for delivering a professional, secure, and high-quality front-of-house experience while supporting the smooth day-to-day operation of a busy conference and office environment within a Grade II listed building in Westminster.

The postholder will ensure the effective coordination of meeting room bookings, uphold security and health & safety standards, and contribute to maintaining an exceptional environment that reflects the organisation’s values. Working independently and collaboratively, they will support the broader facilities and tenant management and conference operations.

Core Responsibilities

· To provide a professional, welcoming and secure “front of house” service for Mothers’ Union, acting as the first point of contact for all visitors, members, guests, tenants and clients.

· To maintain the security of the building and staff by monitoring access, CCTV and emergency procedures.

· To assist with meeting-room bookings.

· To deliver exceptional customer service and a premium experience for all tenants, clients, guests and VIPs.

· To maintain a safe, secure, welcoming and immaculate environment in line with brand standards and health & safety protocols.

Detailed Tasks

Front of House / Reception

1. Welcome visitors, guests, tenants and clients warmly and professionally, ensuring a first-class, personalised and memorable experience for every arrival and departure.
2. Manage VIP arrivals and departures with seamless, attentive and personalised service.
3. Greet and assist professionally; provide information, directions, to desired locations and general support as required.
4. Answer mainline overflow calls, in addition to routed room booking calls and respond to emails courteously, promptly and efficiently, redirecting or handling enquiries appropriately.
5. Deal with any queries or concerns from guests/clients with professionalism and problem-solving skills.
6. Create and maintain positive rapport and excellent professional relationships with guests, clients, tenants and team members.
7. Ensure all internal and external clients feel valued and supported at all times.
8. Receive, and distribute incoming post and deliveries acting as the building’s Post Master to include franking the outgoing MU related post.
9. Maintain general tidiness, cleanliness and a professional standard in all front-of-house areas and customer suites.

Security

1. Sign in all visitors and issue access passes to contractors in accordance with building procedures.
2. Maintain lobby presence and ensure entrance doors are covered at all times.
3. Assist in emergency situations (including fire evacuations, incident isolations and drills) and ensure common areas and fire exits remain clear.
4. Understand and strictly adhere to health & safety policies, security measures, building access control protocols and SOPs.

Conferencing & Meeting Room Support

1. To handle enquiries, take and manage bookings for meeting rooms.
2. In the absence of the Conference Manager, cover bookings, administration and liaison with the facilities team to ensure rooms are set up correctly with refreshments and AV equipment.

General MU Operational Support

1. Contribute to the continuous improvement of front-of-house services and operational processes within Mary Sumner House.

2. Undertake any other duties as may reasonably be required by your Line Manager or Department Director, in line with the scope and responsibilities of the role to support the wider organisation.

We are looking to cover the hours of 8am to 6pm, Monday to Friday ideally split into morning and afternoon shifts to allow lunchtime cover, flexibility during busier periods and sustainability to provide appropriate cover for each other during periods of annual leave.
