The mass participation team regularly raises just under £2m. We require someone ideally who has experience in this area already or someone with strong transisitional skills. The successful candidate will lead on mass participation events ensuring an excellent level of service is maintained to maximse fundraising income.

The Charity team is responsible for raising millions of pounds each year to ensure Christie patients receive gold standard care and treatment. This includes everything from access to world first clinical trials and receiving radiotherapy in state-of-the-art treatment centres to young adults being cared for in a bespoke age-appropriate centre and being able to offer patients anxiety reducing complementary therapy, or even creative sessions in our art room.

This role provides the main Finance point of contact across relevant teams and senior stakeholders and is expected to support various teams and cost centers. Key Tasks and Responsibilities 

1. Client Support 

●Carry out initial assessment of client needs to identify and plan the support needed to address issues and prevent any problems from escalating. 

●Provide casework level advice on welfare benefits, housing and financial issues as appropriate.

●Facilitate access, signpost and accompany clients to services or activities, in particular those with limited English. 

●Assist clients with other related problems or refer to other specialist organisations as appropriate.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are hiring for a second People and Culture/HR Business Partner to join our Generalist P&C team! In this role you will own generalist human resource activities, using a comprehensive understanding of the HR processes. You will educate others with your knowledge of employment law and experience to support in employee relations cases, organisational change projects, and other activities as required. You will advise, support, and guide managers and colleagues on a wide range of topics. 

ABOUT OUR TEAM

The Generalist human resources team is currently a team of 4, the Head of P&C, P&C Business Partner, P&C Advisor, and P&C Administrator. You will report into the Head of P&C. The wider People and Culture/HR team includes the Talent Acquisition Team, Workforce Development, and Talent Development team. As a team we all have our strengths, have individual qualities and interests, we all come together as a team when times can be busy or stressful and work well in supporting each other. We value each others input and no voice goes unheard! We have our collaboration day in the office on a Monday, and Friday's we have P&C time where we wind down at the end of the week with a different activity and team session!

Shift Pattern: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 9 - 5. Mondays in central office, one or more days in our services, with work from home on the remaining days in the week.

OVERVIEW OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Line Management 

• Provide high quality support and line management, offer guidance, support and advice. 
• Responsible for management and leadership of direct reports and their employee lifecycle, this includes but is not limited to; Recruitment, onboarding, inductions, probation reviews, performance management, meeting KPI’s and targets, advising on and managing Employee Relations cases, Staff wellbeing and support, grievances, sickness, and disciplinaries.

Employee Relations

• Ensure all staff have access to meaningful and accessible employment advice, information, documents, and other resources.
• Empower managers with the right knowledge, resources, and access to information and guidance.
• Support managers with team related enquiries, concerns, or issues appropriately.
• Manage and provide high quality advice on low and mid-level employee relations casework.

Employee Lifecycle

• Ensure lifecycle administration, advice, and support is completed to a high standard.
• Contribute to the processing of employee lifecycle changes. This includes payroll, new starters, leavers, and contractual changes.
• Provide advice and guidance on policies, procedures, and employment legislation.
• Monitor, review and report on key people metrics to inform and enhance the delivery of the P&C team and activities.
• Manage and support reward and recognition initiatives.
• Other areas of support will vary. Including Sickness, Occupational health referrals, Annual leave, Maternity/Paternity leave, Compassionate leave, Performance Management, and General Employee Relations.

Performance Management and Development

• Devise, deliver, and evaluate management and staff upskilling and training sessions, and workshops.
• Support Managers across the organisation with Performance management and people development initiatives.
• Support with the personal and professional development of our people, collating feedback, introducing new initiatives and ideas.

Other Responsibilities

• Work collaboratively with the wider P&C team to develop and amplify employee voice through the organisation, and support with various other activities and projects within the team.
• Support management of data and workflows within the HR Information System (HRIS).
• Take ownership of the HRIS to some degree, identify changes to be made, ensure the system management is running smoothly.
• Support with the progression and communication of policies and procedures.
• Build and manage strong relations throughout the organisation and externally.

KEY CRITERIA

What we are looking for:

• Proven experience in a similar role and/or taking on similar level responsibilities
• Experience in coaching and advising managers and colleagues in areas such as employee relations activities across the full lifecycle, performance management, absence management, and other alike areas
• Working knowledge and understanding of HR procedures and basic employment law practices, and how it applies under UK employment legislation
• Line Management experience, or demonstrated leadership skills and abilities
• IT Proficiency, ability to learn new software programs, advanced knowledge in Microsoft, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Ability and willingness to attend regular visits to our different service locations

What we would like, but not essential:

• CIPD Qualification Level 5
• Experience using data to make informed decisions and reports effectively

The Executive Director will work with the Trustee Board to develop and implement the strategic vision for the Law Centre and oversee its day to day operational management.

As Deputy Store Manager you will support the Store Manager providing positive leadership, setting exceptional standards in a store with 15,000 square foot of selling space and work with a sales management team to inspire, motivate, engage and develop a team of 40 colleagues.  You will drive the customer experience and satisfaction, maintaining morale and creating/ supporting an operation that keeps customers coming back.

The Youth Endowment Fund (YEF)

Operations Consultant – Commissioning and Procurement

Reports to: COO/Head of Grant Operations

Open to: Individual consultants or consulting firms with significant experience supporting organisations receiving and distributing public funding to strengthen processes and use of best practice.

Period: Start immediately, with aim to complete audit work by no later than August 2024.

Budget: YEF anticipates a budget of approximately £10,000 and typical day rates for consultants working for the charity range between £500-£650, depending on experience.

About the Youth Endowment Fund

The Youth Endowment Fund (YEF) is a charity with a £200m endowment and a mission that matters. We exist to prevent children and young people from becoming involved in violence. We do this by funding great initiatives, finding out what works and building a movement to put this knowledge into practice.

To make this possible, YEF funds a wide range of organisations aiming to prevent young people from becoming involved in violence. This ranges from delivery organisations providing front line services to young people who need it most, evaluators working with those organisations to understand what’s working, research organisations focused on helping us deeply understand the context and problem, organisations supporting us to put this knowledge into practice, and a variety of organisations supporting our team to execute in the most effective way possible. We have several departments commissioning this work to external organisations and a variety of different processes and mechanisms to do so.

As the volume of work we commission increases across our various departments, we’re looking for an experienced individual or team to support ensuring consistency, compliance with our policies and procedures, and training across a number of different teams on best practice.

Key activities  

· Conduct a thorough desk review on YEF policies and guidance, regarding our commissioning and grant management practices across our programmes, evaluation, research and change departments. Interview a subset of individuals to get a sense of their understanding and comfort with the policies. Produce a written report on how this is going, highlighting any areas where we could improve in consistency or best practice.

· Advise the delivery operations team on how they can best support teams to commission effectively, including helping to clarify roles and responsibilities and ongoing training or support needs for teams.

· If needed, suggest revisions to YEF policies, guidance or agreement templates to support greater efficiency, compliance or best practice.

· Conduct a series of trainings across our different departments to ensure staff responsible for commissioning understand YEF’s policies and best practices for distributing and managing the use of public funding.

· Create a set of public facing materials to help external organisations understand YEF policies and processes for applying for funding, as needed.

Deliverables

· Provide a written report on how YEF is doing adhering to its own policies, ensuring consistency in practice across different teams and adhering to best practice.

· Conduct 3-4 training workshops to different YEF teams, taking into account their own commissioning and grant management requirements.

· Conduct regular, informal advising sessions for a subset of individuals responsible for overseeing commissioning across the organisation.

· Produce a set of public facing guidance on YEF commissioning practice relevant for organisations navigating applications for funding.

· As needed, produce revisions to policy, internal guidance, or agreement templates.

Key requirements

· Must have significant experience of commissioning and procurement within an organisation of comparable size, preferably with organisations receiving and distributing public funding.  

· Experience and proven track record working to improve policies, processes and practices within an organisation.

· Experience of charitable grant-making or research work in the UK, either as a grantee, a grant-maker, or a grant evaluator or researcher.

· A strong understanding of UK government guidelines and legal terms and conditions related to grants and contracts for services. This does not mean you need a law degree, but you must be very comfortable understanding and working with a variety of different agreement mechanisms.

· The ability to understand, collate and synthesise complex sets of information and use them to make informed recommendations.

· Ability to work independently, seeking input from relevant team stakeholders throughout.

Desired experience

· Prior experience working with a What Works Centre or other evidence-focused organisation.
