About the role

The Association strives to deliver well-evidenced, effective and continually improved welfare and wellbeing services which achieve maximum reach and impact throughout the RAF community. The Services Development Manager will provide strategic leadership for the design, development implementation and enhancement of a portfolio of innovative welfare and wellbeing services.

This is a newly created position where the postholder will lead the dedicated development team, setting a clear vision and direction, fostering a culture of cocreation and coproduction to ensure that the voice and lived experience of the RAF community inform all stages of design and implementation. Primary responsibilities include;

• Lead the creation and implementation of new welfare and wellbeing services, managing projects from research and concept development to launch and initial establishment.
• Support service delivery teams to evolve and develop existing welfare and wellbeing services, ensuring robust planning, implementation, and stakeholder communication.
• Foster a creative and results-orientated culture, working closely with senior internal and external stakeholders to identify opportunities and emerging needs. Ensure evidence-based decision making and deliver projects within agreed scope, timescales and budget.
• Lead, manage and develop a high performing team, fostering a culture of empowerment and continuous improvement.
• Facilitating effective meetings, workshops and strategic planning sessions, using a collaborative and solutions‑focused approach.
• Establish and maintain effective policies and procedures (including quality assurance, risk management/mitigation and application of lessons learned) to assure the development and piloting of high-quality wellbeing services.

About you

We need you to hold a degree or have relevant specialist experience in the wellbeing sector. Its crucial that you are highly skilled in shaping service development strategies and leading the design, development and delivery of products and services. An innovative and influential individual will thrive in this role guiding cross functional teams and influencing decision making. Previous line management is essential as you will be leading, coaching and developing high performing teams to deliver impactful high-quality projects. Financial acumen is required to develop financial business proposals and managing a budget.  A UK driving licence is essential for this role as you will be an Ambassador for the Association and may have to travel to events, meetings and workshops occasionally.

We’re excited to welcome a new Volunteering Leader at our North West location

Working Hours & Location 

This role follows a 37 hours, over a 7 day working pattern. The post holder will also be required to work an annualised hours system which includes working any 5 days out of 7 including statutory holidays. They will also be part of a 24-hour operational standby team responsible for providing emergency cover for the waterway. 

The Volunteering Leader will be based at Calveley, Tarporley Hub. Working along the Middlewich Branch, Llangollen and Shropshire Union Canals.

Role Overview 

This is an exciting opportunity, which offers a great variety of activities and tasks from day to day. You will be the public face of the Trust, working extremely closely with volunteers and with members of the public who visit and use our waterways. Your work will be a combination of day-to-day routine tasks and more exciting and involved project work. You will lead volunteers and the team to enable them to work safely and efficiently and help to foster a safe, secure and vibrant waterway network, where visitors are delighted with their experience. The role includes leading and attending events to publicise the work of the trust, promote our activities and recruit new volunteers. 

Key Responsibilities

• Working outside, undertake on-the-job organisation, control and leadership of volunteer groups, volunteer task days, volunteer lock keepers and our in-house team.
• Leading and attending events to publicise the work of the trust, promote our activities and recruit new volunteers.
• Delivering works planned to be conducted by our volunteer teams and our local team.
• Develop volunteering opportunities on our locks.
• Deliver training to volunteers in accordance with set standards
• Identify opportunities for volunteers and update records of work and time delivered

About you

We are looking for an organised, proactive, engaging volunteering leader to support the Area Operations Manager. You will provide guidance to a growing number of active volunteers and our in-house team that helps maintain, conserve and improve the environment and heritage of the waterway network for local communities and visitors to enjoy.

Skills & Qualifications

• Experience of working within relevant environment e.g. volunteering, environmental works, customer service operations or maintenance.
• Experience of leading a small team
• Great organisation and prioritising skills

As Landlord Liaison Coach, you will join our team in Birmingham at an exciting time, delivering an outstanding property procurement service across the private and social rented sector. The Trust and Foundations Manager is responsible for securing significant grant income from trusts, foundations, and institutional funders in the UK and internationally. The role leads on developing and managing a high-value funding pipeline, securing five  and six figure grants, and building strong, long-term funder relationships. As Head of Finance, you will be a member of the Executive Team, supporting the Chief Executive with the overall direction and long-term financial viability of the Charity. You will be accountable for developing and implementing the organisation’s financial strategy, delivering effective financial planning, monitoring and reporting, and maintaining sound financial and risk management systems.

Key responsibilities:

• Provide sound financial advice to the Chief Executive, Board of Trustees and senior managers to support effective leadership and management of the Charity

About you:

This role will suit a fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with senior-level finance leadership experience in a charity or not-for-profit organisation of comparable scale. Overall job purpose

The post-holder will play a key role within the Initiatives and Partnerships team, working with regional teams to develop and implement proposals to expand use of historic churches in our existing estate and, on occasion, working with other heritage and community groups to deliver their own projects via consultancy or partnership work.

They will manage a programme of work that will include a number of site-specific projects and national initiatives across multiple sites, as well as from time to time working with third parties on partnership or consultancy projects.

This role supports the planning, coordination, and delivery of ABN events such as conferences, webinars, and training sessions, ensuring smooth logistics for both virtual and in-person activities. Key responsibilities include managing delegate and speaker administration, maintaining accurate event records, preparing event materials, and handling post-event feedback and reporting. The position also provides general administrative support, assists with website updates, sponsorship information, and CPD requirements, while ensuring accurate membership and event history records are maintained.
