Membership Officer

  • Duration: 6-month FTC
  • Salary: £35,000 per annum
  • Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday-Friday
  • Location: London N1 / Hybrid working
  • Office Attendance: 2 days per week (typically Wednesdays plus one additional flexible day)

This is a fantastic opportunity to join one of the UK's leading professional membership organisations during an exciting period of organisational growth and transformation. You'll play a key role supporting almost 4,000 members whilst helping to maintain excellent membership services during a major digital transformation programme.

About the British Society for Haematology

The British Society for Haematology (BSH) is the UK's largest multidisciplinary professional membership organisation dedicated to advancing the study and practice of haematology. Supporting a growing community of almost 4,000 clinicians, scientists and allied healthcare professionals across the UK and internationally, BSH helps improve patient outcomes through clinical guidelines, education, research and professional networking opportunities.  

About the Role

Reporting to the Director of Corporate and Membership Services, you'll help ensure the smooth delivery of membership services during a significant period of change and system development.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing the membership inbox and responding to member enquiries
  • Processing membership applications, renewals and cancellations
  • Maintaining accurate membership records within the CRM
  • Coordinating the January membership renewal process
  • Managing payment and membership-related queries
  • Liaising with colleagues across finance, events and governance
  • Supporting data imports, exports and data cleansing activities
  • Producing membership reports and maintaining data accuracy
  • Contributing to continuous improvement of membership processes
  • Supporting CRM implementation activities and user testing where required

We're keen to hear from candidates who can demonstrate:

  • Previous experience within a membership organisation, professional body, association or similar environment
  • Experience using CRM systems and databases
  • Strong customer service and stakeholder management skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills
  • Experience managing multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Confidence working independently and taking ownership of tasks
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Desirable Experience

  • Experience supporting membership renewals and DD collections
  • Experience with data imports, exports and data cleansing
  • Experience of CRM migrations or system implementations
  • Understanding of GDPR and data protection requirements
  • Exposure to membership bodies, professional associations or charities
