Safe Passage International (SPI) is recruiting a Development Lead/Coordinator (Fundraising). We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced, and motivated individual to join the Fundraising Team to help grow and diversify our core private funding/income streams in its invaluable and ground-breaking work to ensure that safe routes exist and are accessible for all people seeking asylum.

Reporting to the Development Manager (Partnerships), you will coordinate the day today delivery of our fundraising strategy, with a particular focus on high value giving and building strong, values aligned relationships with supporters.

You will play a key role in turning strategy into action. This includes nurturing relationships with major donors, trusts and foundations, and helping to develop new income such as institutional funding or legacy giving, to ensure our funding is resilient and sustainable.

You will work as part of a collaborative Fundraising Team and closely with colleagues across Safe Passage International, including teams in the UK, Greece, and France.

We are looking for good transferrable leadership and organisational skills, as detailed in the Person Specification. Experience in a similar role would be welcome, but this could also be your first paid position in the NGO sector, or you could be returning to work after time out. A full induction will be provided, alongside a dedicated training budget to support you to grow and develop within your role.

Context and Background

The NSPCC’s purpose is to prevent the abuse and neglect of children across the UK.

The Strategy and Knowledge (S&K) Directorate exists to help shape the world around us - and what the NSPCC does - so that it reflects what we have learned and can help keep children safe from abuse.

The Directorate is responsible for organisational strategy, developing and influencing public policy, championing an evidence-based approach in all our work, developing innovative services and managing our knowledge and information.

This role within our Policy and Public Affairs team will assist in delivering our influencing campaigns asking for public support to persuade government to change laws and policies to better protect children and young people. This exciting role will play a pivotal part supporting the team’s work so we are able to deliver large-scale, impactful campaigns in support of the NSPCC’s policy priorities and our organisational strategy.

Job purpose

This role will support the planning, delivery and evaluation of the NSPCC’s campaigns to mobilise the public behind our influencing goals and galvanise decision makers to act. The postholder will:

• Support the development of our influencing campaigns to inspire new and existing supporters to take action to keep children safe - including through research to inform the planning of campaigns and the creation and dissemination of impactful communications such as emails, social posts and supporter actions.

Redthread is a hospital based youth work service, working alongside NHS staff and other professionals in emergency departments.

Our experienced, specialist youth workers engage with and support young people, aiming to support them with their needs in hospital and post-discharge. We often meet young people at a moment of change and work with them to find a positive way forward.

We provide long-term, holistic support. We consider every aspect of a young person’s life and build support around them.

About the Mental Health Youth Work Service Pilot

The prevalence of reported mental health challenges in children and young people living in England have been increasing.  In addition, research tells us that children and young people facing such challenges with their mental health are more likely to self-harm. For some children and young people, A&E Departments may be a first point of contact with healthcare services following self-harm. While in recent years the number of attendances by children and young people for mental health needs and/or self-harm have stabilised, there was a sharp increase in attendances following the pandemic. For children and young people who have gone to A&E for support with their mental health, such as following self-harm, waiting a long time in A&E can be hard. A&E Departments are often very busy and loud places and there is not always access to secluded space for those who have gone to A&E when experiencing difficulties with their mental health.

Children and young people who are also neurodiverse may find the environment particularly challenging and overstimulating while they are waiting to access care and support. This pilot aims to strengthen the offer of support to young people aged 11-18 in A&E, and also consider the wider social and emotional wellbeing needs of those individuals whilst in that environment and following discharge by ensuring there is follow up support for a variety of services.

The Mental Health Youth Work Service model has been informed by young people with experience of hospital attendances after self-harming, and their feedback has been used to shape the care we aim to deliver.

The service runs across two hospital sites in London: King’s College Hospital and Queen Elizabeth Hospital. There will be a team consisting of one Senior Youth Worker and a Youth Worker embedded in each site.

Job Description

Where you fit in

This is an exciting new service working in partnership with King’s College Hospital Accident and Emergency Department. The project is a pilot that aims to provide specialist Youth Work support for young people presenting to a hospital because of their mental health, and specifically where they attend because of self-harm.

The Senior Youth Worker will lead on the Mental Health Youth Work service embedded within the A&E department. This will involve line management responsibilities for the Mental Health Youth Worker, partnership working to build relationships both internally within the hospital and externally in the local community, and with both statutory and non-statutory partners.

The Senior Youth worker will be expected to support and build trusting relationships with young people who present with acute needs and are often in a crisis. They will manage a caseload of their own, with contact taking place both in the hospital and post-discharge in the community.

The Senior Youth Worker will ensure the integration of the service at their respective hospital A&E department, and work alongside the Team Leader in reporting, monitoring and evaluation requirements

Main Duties & Accountabilities

• Lead the delivery of the Mental Health Youth Work service for young people aged 11-18 who attend the A&E department. Ensure that all young people are assessed holistically and care plans are tailored, trauma-informed and empowering, with the aim of reducing further harm.

• Line manage the Mental Health Youth Worker, providing guidance and direction through regular contact and meetings, case allocation, caseload oversight and one-to-one supervision, both formally and informally.

• In collaboration with the other Senior Youth Worker, provide overall support to the team to develop and improve skills, including assessment and recording, to ensure that Redthread’s model of intervention is delivered consistently.

• Promote high levels of wellbeing for staff members who are working with young people who have experienced acute and chronic mental health challenges

• Hold a caseload and work with young people with often complex needs, in a range of settings, including in A&E, in the community, face-to-face and virtually where required, and promote their personal, educational, health and social development through all interactions

• Assist with the on-going development of the service model to ensure that young people and other stakeholders gain the maximum benefit from Redthread’s interventions

• Along with the team, tailor and design youth work resources that are specific to the young people we are working with

• Contribute to the training programme that Redthread provides for hospital staff, including informal microteaching and more formal presentations.

• With support from the Team Leader, maintain strong working relationships within the Hospital, and NHS staff ensuring that Redthread youth workers are fully embedded in the health setting and are working with clinical staff to deliver a service that meets the needs of young people, including promoting the service within the hospital and attending appropriate internal meetings

• Assist in building and maintaining strong working relationships with Redthread stakeholders, project partners and with other agencies working with young people and to represent Redthread at external meetings as required.

• Ensure that as a team, you are proactive in researching and networking with other organisations working with young people in the area served by the hospital to ensure that the Youth Workers have a good knowledge of other services and projects that may be of interest to the young people we work with or appropriate for us to refer to.

• Attend multi-disciplinary team meetings in hospital, working with ED staff and CAMHS teams to support and safeguard young people

• Maintain a good level of professional knowledge of the issues affecting young people, particularly related to their mental health needs and self harm.

• In all areas of the work, apply an in-depth understanding of safeguarding responsibilities when working with children and young people, and provide guidance to your team members that adheres to Redthread’s Safeguarding policy and procedures and safeguarding policies of respective NHS Trusts.

• Ensure information resources such as client forms, databases and contact files are kept fully up-to-date and secure, in line with GDPR, the Data Protection Act and our Confidentiality Policy and Consent Policy. Maintain high-quality recording of interventions with young people on our database, Salesforce, in line with Redthread’s best-practice requirements. (Training will be provided.)

• Collect and record evidence of project outcomes and young people’s achievements, to ensure the completion of monitoring forms and project progress reports as required.

The RunFree Accelerator (RFA), launched in October 2025, is Global Clubfoot Initiative’s flagship programme to accelerate progress towards the shared vision in our RunFree2030 strategy: that all children with clubfoot will get the treatment they need to walk, play and run free. You will be working with a highly experienced, knowledgeable and motivated team in a friendly and supportive environment

In this role, you will focus on:

· Member Engagement (25%)

o Facilitate member engagement, including onboarding, communication, meeting facilitation, and follow-up.

o Foster relationships, encourage engagement from, and coordinate support for our 60+ member NGO’s globally

o Creating and using systems to measure and report on key member engagement metrics

· RunFree Accelerator Coordination and Support (75%), supporting work on all three of our RFA Areas: Integration, Capacity Building and Knowledge and Evidence. This will involve a variety of tasks day to day, including:

o Support advocacy initiatives by conducting research into key issues and interests and relationship building with organisations and networks  in relevant sectors to advance RunFree2030.

o Report writing, including grant management and reporting

o Support research, data collection and analysis 

o Communications – particularly member-focussed, including meetings, presentations, written documents, emails and other forms of communication

o Support events planning including on-line and in-person symposia, webinars, workshops, and working groups; promote member coordination and engagement

o Assist in organising and distributing resources, toolkits, and guidance documents to members and partners.

o Gain and share insights into our members’ needs and strengths that will contribute to successful programmes

o Collaborate with RFA team for monitoring and evaluation of RFA activities, measuring progress and addressing operational challenges

o Coordinate translation of key resources to major working languages of GCI members; encourage uptake of resources with non-English speaking members

o Prepare agendas, meeting notes, and action item trackers for internal and external meetings.

o Provide administrative support for contracts/contractors, invoices, and other documentation for RFA activities as needed.

o Maintain accurate records of activities, deliverables, and timelines to ensure smooth execution.

o Coordinate communication between stakeholders, ensuring timely updates and responses.

Person specification:

Essential:

• Demonstrated experience of working in a similar context to that of our members in the majority world in Latin America, Africa or Asia.
• Able to understand and anticipate our members’ unique contexts, strengths and challenges
• 3-5 years’ experience of working in global health or development in a programme delivery role
• Strong project management skills with proven experience coordinating activities across a team, keeping team members accountable to timeline and deliverables
• Able to effectively prioritise and deliver on a varied and fast paced workload
• Proven communication skills in different formats and effectively able to communicate with people from a wide variety of background, contexts and cultures
• Proven ability to relate to, engage with, motivate and inspire others to action
• Excellent IT skills in a variety of digital platforms including Microsoft office suite, CRM systems, Canva, Project Management platforms such as Trello
• Excellent written and spoken English
• Attention to detail
• Commitment to the vision and goals of Global Clubfoot Initiative, the RunFree2030 strategy and to delivering these in an inclusive, accessible and equitable manner
• Degree or qualification in a relevant area such as social sciences, policy, international relations, global health or equivalent

Desirable:

• Fluent in French and/or Spanish in addition to English
• Experience of working in training, health and/or advocacy programmes
• Experience of working with programs for children with clubfoot or a similar childhood condition

Job Basis: 4-5 days per week, working remotely with travel within the UK to attend team meetings 4-5 times per year.  Possibility of international travel up to 7-10 days at a time, no more than 2-3 times per year.

We are open to discussions on flexible working arrangements and for the right candidate may consider part time working.  Candidates should be available Monday - Wednesdays for core team hours.

About the role:

Core responsibilities within the role will be:

• Audit historic accounts, structure, tracking and performance to determine which to reactivate, and what to rebuild or add
• Create a relaunch plan covering budgets, targeting, creative assets and measurement
• Rebuild and optimise campaigns across Google Search (paid and Grants Pro), PMAX and Microsoft Ads. Set and manage budgets, identify new opportunities, and run continuous A/B tests on ads, assets and landing pages
• Reactivate activity across all mediums and optimise them to deliver a substantial source of one-off donations, regular gifts and new donors
• Re-establish an always-on, profitable programme with clear reporting to the Marketing Manager and support the wider marketing campaigns with search and PMAX activity
• Own and lead on continuous CRO of donation and campaign landing pages - including prioritised test backlog, hypotheses, wireframes, copy, QA and implementation with designers and developers - to improve performance of paid and organic traffic
• Undertake AB and multivariate testing including running experiments on landing pages, CTAs and forms to improve conversion rates
• Assist with ensuring clean tracking across the digital marketing, including responsibility for query strings
• Monitor KPIs including bounce rate, time on site, conversion rate, and ROI using tools such as Google Analytics, GA4, and Hotjar
• Provide UX insights across heatmaps, session recordings, and user feedback to inform design and content changes
• Produce regular reporting and insights for the Marketing Manager

We'd love to hear from you if you're a Paid Search Freelancer, or broader digital marketing Freelancer with expertise in the following:

• Substantial hands-on management, optimisation and reporting across Google Ads (paid and Ad Grants) and Microsoft Ads including Search and PMAX
• Organic traffic SEO experience including keyword research, On-Page SEO (Optimise meta tags, headings, content structure, and internal linking) using search console and SEMrush
• Demonstrable experience in website conversion analysis and page optimisation for landing pages in a non-profit organisation
• Experience with conversion funnel analysis - identifying drop-off points and optimising user journeys across devices.
