Job description

At Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA), we enrich lives through the unique bond between people and horses. Each year, we support over 39,000 disabled children and adults through activities including riding, carriage driving, and equine assisted programmes such as Quiet Corners and Tea with a Pony. We are pioneers in the therapeutic use of horses, leaders in disability sport, and the only major UK charity focused specifically on the health and wellbeing benefits of bringing people and horses together.

We welcome people of all ages and abilities, including those with physical and learning disabilities, sensory impairments, long-term health conditions, and neurodiversity. With 24% of the UK population classified as disabled, we make a lasting impact through the therapeutic power of horses.

We are now looking for a Coaching Coordinator to help us continue our work. 

Job Title:                           Coaching Co-ordinator

Reports to:  Head of Coaching and Equine

Based at: RDA National Office (Lowlands Equestrian Centre, Warwickshire)

Hours:                                Full Time (37 hours per week)

Contract Type:                   Permanent

Salary: £27,717

Role Purpose

To assist with training and continual professional development (CPD) organisation for RDA’s coaching workforce, supporting RDA’s coaching objectives in line with RDA strategy. Provision of support for the wider coaching team, volunteers and member groups with a continual emphasis on delivery of service and the requirement to increase RDA’s potential to work with more participants.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Planning and facilitation internal and external meetings, including agenda distribution, minute taking, and follow-up on actions as required, with support from senior coordinators.
  • Processing and recording of paperwork for the coaching pathway and RDA UK activities.
  • Assist senior coordinators with the arrangement of training and assessment days.
  • Organisation of online coaching modules.
  • Assist Senior Coordinators and the Major Project Lead for Coaching and Equine with updating online content and content for coaching modules and resources (including equine).
  • Work closely with the communications team to create, upload and monitor coaching and equine social media and marketing content.
  • Update any budget spend in line with processing any coach or volunteer expenses claim forms.
  • Manage the RDA Coaching Awards process, working in partnership with the Volunteer Manager to develop the future of the awards.
  • Support the Senior Co-ordinators and Major Project Lead roles as required.
  • Assist with the development of paperwork for the coaching pathway.
  • Provision of advice and guidance to the RDA coaching network; act as the first line of response via telephone and email
  • Provision of feedback elicited through contact with coaches to the Head of Coaching and Equine, including recurring themes, opportunities and concerns.

General

  • Undertake such other duties as the line manager shall from time to time determine.
  • Demonstrate the values and cultural aspirations of RDA in all work.
  • Ensure due consideration is always given to our charitable aims and objectives and that this is demonstrated in all activities.
  • To attend and service the National Championships, providing support leading up to the event as requested, as well as supporting the event itself.

 Person Specification

  • Experience of working on multiple projects with ability to prioritise and multitask
  • Experience of working with a charity
  • Empathy with volunteering
  • Empathy with the aims and values of RDA
  • A working understanding of inclusion, equality and anti-discrimination, safeguarding and best practice
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Skilled in accuracy and attention to detail
  • Able to form and maintain good working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders
  • Ability to work as part of a busy team
  • Uses initiative and proactively supports other team members
  • Ability to work independently to agreed targets
  • Computer literacy with experience in Microsoft Office
