Harris Hill is working with an education based organisation, supporting their search for an interim Events Manager, working remotely, 4 days per week, for 6 months.
The pro rota salary would be £36-40k, on the basis that you work 4dpw, but could spread the 4 across 5. You would however be responsible for attending the various events, with one in June and another in October.
We are looking for a seasoned Events Manager, who is adept at the whole life cycle of events, with a emphasis on planning, and the marketing of the events themselves, so someone with both events and marketing experience is essential.
The team does have some events, admin, and communications support, but you would need to steer the a little, be very hands on, and flexible to the needs of the role.
Specifically, the role of the Events Manager involves:
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, and working closely with the staff team, to develop and deliver ALT’s programme of events.
Organising the logistics for in-person and online events and conferences, managing associated budgets and revenue generation, and negotiating with exhibitors and sponsors.
Leading on events-related stakeholder management, including working in partnership with volunteers to create conference programmes and managing event-related collaborations with partner organisations, nationally, and internationally. This also includes leading on logistics for the Annual Awards.
Leading on events marketing and communications and social media, including promoting opportunities for members and partners across sectors.
Overseeing delegate and exhibitor liaison and carrying out event evaluations, including acting as the person responsible for feedback and complaints.
Evaluating and reporting on events to committees including the Board of Trustees.
Business and project management
Devise and manage project plans, risk registers and budgets for events and associated areas of operations.
Negotiate with potential and selected suppliers of products and services to secure best value, and manage and develop long term relationships with its suppliers.
Recruit, train, and line manage casual staff employed by the organisation in the run-up to and during conferences.
General
Represent the organisation at events, promote the organisation and establish new and develop existing relationships with partners and stakeholders. This will involve occasional weekend, and evening work, and travel within the UK, and will include attendance at the two in-person conferences in the UK.
Contribute to the development and implementation of the Strategy.
Undertake training to ensure appropriate skills are acquired or developed.
Provide occasional holiday and sickness cover for posts at the same or lower grade.
Undertake any other duties and responsibilities as may be determined by the organisation that are commensurate with the level and grade of this post.

We’re looking for a Head of Communications & Marketing to advance greater public understanding of humanism by reaching new and growing audiences. The role also comes with strategic responsibility for improving brand awareness and driving sales for key products and brands, including Humanist Ceremonies (non-religious weddings, funerals, and naming ceremonies), the award-winning New Humanist magazine (est. 1885), podcasts, books, and a nationwide programme of prestige events and festivals.
This is a senior role with real scope. You will lead our communications team across print, digital, events, and marketing, and make sure what we put out is clear, compelling, consistent, and rooted in our purpose. As well as marketing, this role has responsibility for content, including for our website and social media channels, making sure these are updated with high-quality, accessible, engaging, and well-optimised educational and brand-building materials pitched at a range of target audiences.
This role is about leadership as much as delivery. You’ll be responsible for maintaining a clear organisational communications grid, and for working closely with colleagues across the organisation, particularly the Head of Press & Campaign Communications and the Head of Fundraising, to make sure our messaging, brand, and tone are joined up and effective.
You will be at your best when working to ambitious but achievable KPIs and making strategic decisions on the basis of evidence, including open and clickthrough rates, A/B testing, site behaviour and visit numbers, sales conversions, surveys, and feedback.

The purpose of this role is to support the National Programme Team with the implementation of operational plans that deliver successful national skills competitions. Job purpose
· Forward-plan funding streams to ensure a smooth and regular flow of income that meets The Avenues’ budget (currently £1.2m p.a., much of which has been secured for the next 18 months).
· Develop existing and new relationships with funders to maximise immediate and long-term income for the organisation and its various projects.
· Write compelling proposals and applications that secure significant income from trusts and foundations, coordinating input from across The Avenues team.
· Research and identify new prospects from a diversity of sources with a view to securing medium and large grants for The Avenues.
Accountabilities and responsibilities
· Identify and develop opportunities from a range of trusts, foundations and grant-making bodies.
· Draft, submit and manage the progress of all funding applications for The Avenues’ priority projects (approximately 30-40 applications per year).
· Develop fundraising proposal budgets in collaboration with Programme and Finance colleagues, ensuring needs are accurately costed and aligned with donor requirements.
· Work with colleagues to develop new project ideas that fit within The Avenues’ organisational goals and within budgets that meet funders’ criteria.
· Handle the post-grant paperwork, notifying the team and updating our records.
· Develop and manage positive relationships with funders, including necessary communications with grants officers, potential major donors, corporate donors and community supporters.
· Manage the pipeline of applications and fundraising database; providing financial reporting and other management information to colleagues on a timely basis.
· Work with the Chief Executive, trustees and community volunteers to help organise our fundraising events (dinner-auction, party, quiz night, marathon). Assisting with the smooth-running of these events, including writing and producing communication materials.
· Write the quarterly email newsletter for our supporter mailing list.
· Manage and optimise the charity’s CRM system (Beacon), ensuring fundraising contact data is accurate, well maintained, and used effectively.
· Perform other duties as required by the Chief Executive to the overall direction and running of the charity and develop productive relationships with external stakeholders.
Experience and skills
· Excellent writing skills with the ability to write concise and creative bids.
· 3+ years’ proven track record in a fundraising position, with a focus on trusts/foundations and public sector income streams. (Or, you may equally have experience in sales and marketing in a commercial environment.)
· Skilled at budgeting and presenting financial information in easy-to-understand formats.

This role requires working from our Victim Support London office on Tuesday & 4 days home based, however travel to London courts will be required throughout the week to attend Pre-trial visits.

About the role:
This role is offered on a hybrid working basis, 1 day per week from our London Singer Street office (every Tuesday). The remaining 4 days per week will be home-based, but there will still be the requirement on these days to travel to London courts to deliver pre-trial visits. Therefore, it is essential the travel distance from surrounding counties outside of London is within 30 minutes to London.

As Director of External Affairs across the Bild Group of four small charities (with collective turnover of approx. £3m/yr), you will have a deep commitment to human rights and improving people’s lives.
You will provide strategic direction and leadership to the External Relations function across all four charities in the group, taking overall responsibility for and providing thought-leadership on our strategic approach to policy, influencing, public affairs, stakeholder engagement.
You will play a lead role in planning, developing, and implementing the communication and external relations and wider engagement strategic plan to grow awareness and profile of Bild, Respond, Restraint Reduction Network (RRN) and ACT.
By sharing the impact of our work and programmes in improving the lives of people with learning disabilities, autism and /or mental health conditions, you will support Bild in becoming the sector leading provider of organisational and workforce development (and RRN in becoming the leading charity in reducing restrictive practices globally – and Respond as leaders in trauma informed therapy).
You will champion Bild and RRN’s brand, vision, mission and values acting as an ambassador for the organisation both internally and externally to partners, stakeholders and media.

Strategic Leadership:
Develop and implement an integrated communications and external relations strategy across the four charities in the group to raise our profile and to influence change which positively impacts on our beneficiaries, aligning media, campaigning, and public affairs with the charity’s mission and strategic priorities
