We are the New Organising Collaborative, conveners of the New Organising Conference - a groundbreaking initiative aimed at building collective power to advance social justice. This event brings together a diverse group of participants — including trade unions, community organisers, non-profits, academics, lawyers, and journalists — all with a shared commitment to workers' rights and community organising.
Held annually over a weekend, the Conference fosters learning, inspiration, and collaboration. In September 2025, 60 individuals delivered 44 different sessions to an audience of 130 attendees. As the Conference preparations ramp up, we are looking for a dedicated Event Coordinator to join our team. You will be involved in all aspects of outreach for the Conference, including social media, as well as managing registrations, and trouble shooting at the Conference itself (with plenty of time to enjoy the sessions.) The Community Engagement Coordinator will support the development of our partnership network and the delivery of our work in Wales. This will involve communicating and engaging, in person and online, with a range of delivery partners, building relationships, communicating about our work and coordinating the day-to-day operations of our programmes. Role Summary
The Donor Experience Officer role is your opportunity to join our excellent team at an exciting time. Stewardship and donor experience are vital activities to the success of any philanthropic campaign. The Donor Experience Officer will work with the Donor Experience Manager and second Donor Experience Officer, in a team of three. The Donor Experience Officer will be expected to manage and support with the stewardship activity for a number of our supporters, including our regular donors, legacy pledgers, volunteers, charitable and corporate organisations and major donors. The successful candidate will work with our Communications and Events Teams to deliver appropriate, meaningful and effective activities that express gratitude and communicate impact. They will work closely with colleagues in the Philanthropy, Charitable Partnerships, Volunteering and Regular Giving teams to build programmes to steward these key donor communities and will work alongside the Data team to help manage donor data and segmentation.
The successful candidate will have outstanding communication skills with experience in writing for impact, in creating digital content, and an understanding of the needs and expectations of different audiences. They will be able to balance creativity and imagination with a structured, thoughtful and organised approach to their work. The organisation rescues high quality edible surplus food, from across the food industry and gets it to over 8,000 organisations across the UK who are working to strengthen communities and improve lives.
The charity manages seven depots across London, Suffolk, Merseyside and Hampshire and works with 16 network partners who operate a further 26 regional depots across the UK.
Over the next year our ambition is to rescue enough food nationally to provide nearly 200 million meals, turning an environmental problem into social good with measurable impact for people, planet, and the economy.
Purpose of the Job
This role is pivotal to the success of FareShare in the region. This individual is ultimately responsible for the leadership, development and direction FareShare’s operations locally. The individual will offer a holistic view of the operation within the setting of the local need and ensure that there is an innovative approach to meeting this need within the confines of complete compliance and operational safety. The role will manage and co-ordinate the day-to-day operations of the Regional Centre in liaison with other key managers. They will also manage and support the Regional Centre staff and volunteers, leading by example to ensure that our ambitious targets are met and ensure continuity of delivery standards within the guidelines of FareShare national policies and procedures and the needs of the local community.
FareShare UK has ambitious strategic goals and targets and this role provides the conduit to meeting these with the region. This role is FareShare’s ambassador locally and will make connections with stakeholders in other not-for-profit organisations, local government, funding bodies and local media sources on our behalf.

About MediCinema
MediCinema is a unique national, UK registered charity that improves the wellbeing and enriches the quality of life of NHS patients, their families and carers through the power of the shared cinema experience and the magic of film. We achieve this by building and running cinemas in hospitals and places of care equipped with space for beds, wheelchairs and medical equipment, and providing free films and activities for patients of all ages. Our services help to improve emotional, mental and physical health, reducing isolation, anxiety and stress, and increasing patient resilience to help them cope with what they’re going through.
Our purpose-built in-hospital cinemas are designed to accommodate patients in hospital beds and wheelchairs, on drips or with monitors. Patients are looked after by trained volunteers who accompany them to and from the cinemas, and by two nurses who are present at each inpatient screening. In addition to our regular inpatient screenings, we run Tailored Screenings for specific patient communities, working closely with the patients and clinical teams to co-design experiences that meet the specific needs of each group. We also routinely hold personal screenings for patients who are unable to mix with other patients, are receiving palliative care or are in other sensitive situations. We also run our varied Beyond the Big Screen programme that extends the impact of our services to outside the film screenings, including specially-designed MediCinema activity books, arts & crafts and special character or talent visits. Finally, through our long-standing strategic partnership with Disney, we also design and provide activities on wards and in the MediCinemas as part of our expansive and impactful ‘Moments that Matter’ (MTM) programme.
The Role
We are looking for a Deputy Cinema Manager to join the team at our established MediCinema based in Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI) in Newcastle, serving adult patients from the RVI and paediatric patients in the Great North Children’s Hospital.
The post-holder will work with the Cinema Manager and the team of nurses and volunteers who support our MediCinema, and will work closely with them, the hospital, and with central office operations team to prepare for and run successful film screenings each week.
We run 4 regular inpatient screenings each week which includes evenings and weekends. The post holder will be required to work on a shift pattern to include weekends and evenings each week. There will also be a programme of additional Tailored and Personal screenings on top of these regular inpatient screenings.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities
Service Delivery
- Support the Cinema Manager in delivering a programme of screenings each week as agreed according to the operating procedures of a MediCinema, including running and managing screenings on your own. Most screenings are held in the evenings and at weekends, so the role requires regular evening and Saturday working.
- On screening days be responsible for:
- Marketing the service through the hospital’s wards, organising collecting and returning patients, and for safety and care in the cinema itself.
- Taking responsibility for health and safety of patients coming to the cinema, and the safety and appearance of the cinema space itself.
- Preparing and operating the digital projection equipment for the screening, ensuring that films are always screened to the highest technical standards. Training and ongoing technical support will be provided for this.
- Ensuring that all operational, welfare and safeguarding policies set out by MediCinema are followed accordingly and that, where appropriate, consent forms are obtained for photographic or filmed records.
- Ensuring that all aspects of the operation comply with relevant health and safety legislation, and that areas where MediCinema might be in breach of such are dealt with immediately or brought to the attention of the appropriate authorities for rectification.
- Keeping accurate monitoring and operational records, including contacts and database updating as required
- Help the Cinema Manager collate, analyse and report back on agreed metrics and KPI’s
- Assist with arranging and running any special events and special screenings
- When required, arrange and run additional personal screenings for patients unable to attend regular screenings, plus special tailored screenings with hospital departments and patient groups.
- Support the development and roll out of any new type of screenings we embark on.
- Support the delivery of our ‘Beyond the Big Screen' bedside services, including our Disney ‘Moments that Matter’ work.
Nurse & Volunteer Management
- Help the Cinema Manager build, manage and support the team of nurses and volunteers to assist in the duties outlined above and to ensure that screenings run safely and smoothly – this will include assisting with recruitment and creating monthly rotas.
Marketing and Relationship Management
- Be proactive in marketing the service within the hospital, building key relationships with hospital staff.
- Help develop and manage effective partnerships throughout the hospital and community
- Representing the organisation effectively and compellingly at all times.
- Support the programming and development of the MediCinema as a centre for entertainment, being pro-active in developing a creative programme of sustainable events at each site. This could include fundraising events, live performance and other relevant activities.
Administration and other duties
- Deputise for the Cinema Manager as and when required.
- Provide holiday or emergency screening cover when required.
- Help manage the collection, loading and returning of films.
- Champion the work of MediCinema within the hospital and cinema environment, as well as confidently and positively representing MediCinema in all interactions and at any meetings and events.
- Contribute to the strategic development of the Newcastle MediCinema, operations and MediCinema as a wider organisation
- Communicate effectively with all team members, ensuring an inclusive and whole organisation approach
- Undertake other tasks, projects and duties as reasonably required.
MediCinema is a small team and staff members are expected to support each other and share cross-organisational work in addition to fulfilling individual responsibilities.
The Person

- A sense of humour and congenial demeanour to help patients and families feel at ease and enjoy their MediCinema experience.

What is the Worker-led Transition project?
The Worker-led Transition project is a collaboration between NEON and the Trades Union Congress (TUC) that aims to future-proof manufacturing jobs, accelerate climate action and push back against far-right politics in industrial communities.
The TUC estimates that the future of up to 800,000 jobs in the UK (in sectors like chemicals, automotive, steel, ceramics, their supply chains and more) depend on timely planning and investment in industry to meet the needs of a decarbonised economy. Our project supports workers in high-carbon manufacturing industries to plan for a sustainable future for their workplaces (e.g. making green steel or zero-emissions vehicles), builds alignment across the climate movement in support of a worker-led transition, and counters far-right politics in industrial communities by advancing a vision for a socially just climate transition that protects and creates well-paid, unionised jobs in the clean industries of the future.
Purpose of the role
The purpose of this role is to support NEON’s work to build organising capacity in UK social movements, with a focus on NEON’s Worker-led Transition project. You will:
- Build support for a worker-led transition in the climate movement and industrial communities, with an emphasis on local and regional coalition and capacity-building in key industrial regions, as well as strengthening relationships with the trade union movement and industrial workers.
- Provide responsive support to movement organisations when they need it most, offering strategic and organising support and advice.
Key Responsibilities
- Play a key role in the delivery of NEON’s movement building and organising work for the Worker-led Transition project, by strengthening relationships between the climate movement and trade union movements, and training and supporting local groups and community members to organise and campaign in support of a worker-led transition and a sustainable future for communities in key industrial regions:
- This will involve visits to industrial sites and communities across England and Wales
- Co-design and deliver events and trainings, where climate activists and trade union organisers and members can build relationships, strategise and plan joint action to deliver a worker-led transition
- Collaborate with TUC staff to ensure coordinated and effective action in support of a worker-led transition
- Work with colleagues in the Movement Building Hub to develop strategy, and join up our organising work across programmes
- Play an active part in the whole NEON team and the Movement Building Hub Team, contributing to organisation-wide plans, including providing facilitation support for other NEON programmes as and when requested.
Who you are
