Operational Manager
Location: Welwyn Garden City with travel around Hertfordshire (own transport required)             
Hours / salary: 30 hours / week. Full Time Equivalent Salary £35,000 p.a.
Pension: Viewpoint offers a defined contribution pension scheme. Contribution levels are based on Total Gross Salary Employer 5%, Employee 3%. Participation in the scheme will commence after an initial 3 month probationary period.

Acorns is now seeking a Donor Experience Manager to play a key role in delivering an exceptional supporter experience across the fundraising directorate. Reporting to the Head of Donor Experience, the Donor Experience Manager will lead the delivery of engaging, insight-led donor journeys across multiple fundraising channels.

You will work closely with fundraising, marketing and care teams to ensure that every supporter interaction – from initial engagement through to long-term stewardship – is consistent, personalised and meaningful. As Donor Experience Manager, you will:

• Line manage and develop the Donor Experience Officer, ensuring high standards of supporter care and operational delivery
• Design and deliver multi-channel donor journeys that strengthen engagement, retention and supporter lifetime value
• Manage the annual fundraising communications plan and identify meaningful stewardship opportunities across fundraising activity
• Develop and maintain a central fundraising content library including case studies, stories and impact materials
• Work with fundraising, marketing and care teams to produce compelling supporter communications and impact reports
• Support bespoke stewardship and recognition activity for major donors and high-value supporters
• Champion digital engagement, automation and personalisation across supporter communications

Help build the operational backbone of a nationally growing, trauma-informed youth arts organisation.

The Role

This is not simply an administrative post. It is a senior operational leadership role rooted in care, clarity and accountability.

Importantly, this is not a COO position. The Managing Director retains overall strategic leadership, governance accountability and final responsibility for income generation. The Operations Manager focuses on strengthening workforce systems, delivery oversight and organisational readiness within a shared leadership structure.

This is a key role within the organisation, working closely with the Chief Executive, Trustees and wider Senior Management Team. About the role

You will lead on all financial reporting, planning and compliance, and ensure financial information is accurate, timely and useful for decision-making. You will also manage one member of staff (Finance Administrator) and work with colleagues across the organisation to support budgeting, forecasting, project costing and grant applications.

Key responsibilities

Board & Leadership

• Advise the CEO and Board on all financial matters, ensuring all legal and financial requirements are met.
• Attend Board and relevant sub-committee meetings.
• Provide financial input for the Strategic Business Plan and other analysis as required.

Reporting

• Prepare and present monthly management accounts, including variance analysis, restricted/unrestricted funds and balance sheet reporting.
• Lead the year-end process with external accountants, including audit/independent exam planning, reconciliations, site visits and production of Financial Statements.
• Work with the CEO and department leads to prepare the annual budget and provide variance analysis for Board approval.
• Produce a six‑month reforecast.
• Monitor restricted funds and update the Fundraising and Client Services teams.

Tax

• Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns, ensuring correct application of partial exemption rules.
• Review gift aid and GASDS claims to ensure compliance and maximise income.

Payroll

• Ensure compliance with pensions, NMW and tax regulations.
• Oversee P11Ds and payrolling of benefits (where applicable).
• Support and oversee the Finance Administrator with SAGE payroll and keep up to date with relevant tax/employment law changes.
• Review payroll before submission.

Other responsibilities

• Manage high‑level cashflow and work with the Finance Administrator on daily cash monitoring.
• Line-manage the Finance Administrator.
• Support departments with project budgets, cashflows and grant applications.
• Develop and update financial systems and controls as the organisation evolves.

Finally, our OpenARMs programme will be launching workshops for our refugee and asylum seeker communities.

The post holder will be a highly articulate and proactive individual with good welfare advice knowledge, 3+ years delivery experience in managing a charity team, strong service management skills, as well as experience managing staff and volunteers. The ideal candidate will have up-to date knowledge of the welfare system, immigration and safeguarding protocols. They must also have demonstrable experience using a case management system, adhering to advice standards and be able to manage a diverse workload and work under pressure.

The role

The Raspberry Pi Foundation is looking to appoint a senior fundraising and development professional to support our ambitious, global mission to democratise computing and AI education for all young people. 

Reporting to the Vice President for Global Development, and working closely with the Chief Executive and other members of the leadership team, you will be responsible for developing and expanding partnerships with corporates, foundations, and individual high net worth donors. You will also lead on developing bids for contracts for educational services with government departments and agencies. 

While this role is based in the UK, you will be part of a global fundraising team and you will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of our work all over the world. Alongside managing your own portfolio, you will manage a small team of fundraising and development specialists. 

The ideal candidate will have a track record of successful fundraising and partnership development, ideally in the education sector. You will have a deep understanding of the funding landscape, particularly in the UK, although experience of working in other markets will be a distinct advantage. You will ideally have some experience of bidding for government contracts. You should have experience of building and supporting teams.

JUSTICE is looking to recruit a new Director of Development to join our friendly, outcome-focused, values-led team. This is a permanent role and provides an exciting opportunity for someone who is an experienced fundraiser who is able to provide strategic direction as well as get into the nitty gritty, when needed. 

We are looking for an individual who has an interest in the purpose of the charity (to improve the UK justice system so that it is fair and within everyone’s reach). The successful post holder will be a confident leader who has worked as a senior fundraiser in previous roles and someone who enjoys autonomy and is able to lead and empower their team.

The Director of Development will lead the organisation’s income generation strategy to support its work to advance legal reform, human rights and the rule of law. The role is responsible for diversifying, growing and achieving income through existing income streams, including: trusts and foundations, major donors, giving circles (JUSTICE60 and NextGen J60), corporate partnerships, membership as well as seeking out and creating new streams.

By working closely with the Chief Executive and senior leadership team, the Director will build long-term, strong relationships with funders and partners, strengthen the organisation’s case for support and ensure fundraising is aligned with the charity’s strategic priorities.

About the Role

This is critical role within the organisation, supporting essential services for people and communities. It is a senior operational finance role with responsibility for day-to-day financial management, robust controls, accurate reporting and compliance. You will work closely with the Payroll Manager, our Executive Management Team and Operational Managers  providing trusted financial insight that supports informed decision-making and service delivery.

You will also lead and develop our finance team, ensuring purchase ledger and sales ledger activities are accurate, efficient and well controlled.

About You

We are looking for someone who combines strong technical finance skills with a collaborative, people-centred approach.You will have strong technical finance skills and proven experience in a Finance Manager or Management Accountant role. 

You will also have:

• A professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent), or be willing to work towards one
• Strong financial reporting, analysis and control experience
• Experience preparing audit or statutory accounts
• Experience of implementing and embedding new financial systems
• Excellent attention to detail and high levels of accuracy
• Strong Excel skills and confidence working with financial systems
• The ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-finance colleagues
• The confidence to challenge, escalate risks and maintain high standards of governance

It would be an advantage if you also have

• Experience in health, social care or another regulated environment
• Experience working in the charity or not-for-profit sector
