We are now looking for new Trustees to join us to help shape our future. The Board of Trustees work with Age UK BPED Chief Executive Officer to agree the strategic vision and mission and guide the charity towards achieving its goals.
What will you be doing?
We operate in a challenging environment. As with all charities working in adult social care, budgets have been tightened and we need to ensure that we continue to deliver high quality services in difficult times. It is an exciting time for the charity as we look to grow our Health & Wellbeing Services as well as reopening our Day Services provision and further develop our Dementia Services.
As a Trustee you will work in partnership with your fellow Trustees and the Chief Executive Officer to agree the long-term vision and strategic objectives of the charity which will include how best to enhance our services and make best use of our assets and investments. Your role as Trustee is also to ensure that the Charity complies with the necessary charitable and company governance frameworks. You will need to be able to devote time to attend the Board meetings which take place bimonthly from 6pm -8pm (usually on a Tuesday).

We are looking for Trustees who have a strong empathy with our mission and values, are collegiate in approach and are comfortable working with others to develop a strategy that will deliver positive change and ultimately will make Bournemouth, Poole, and East Dorset a great place to live in later life. We are Wales' most influential think tank. We are looking for up to four new people to join our team as several long-standing trustees stand down.
Trustees are responsible for all aspects of the Bevan Foundation’s business, although much of the day to day running is delegated to staff. You’d be doing everything from deciding our priorities, making sure we have the right resources and use them effectively, ensuring we meet our legal obligations, and spreading the word about our work.
You’re expected to attend four board meetings a year, our AGM in November, and to contribute between meetings.
We are not looking for specific qualifications or experiences, as we will give you training and support especially if this is your first board role. We welcome applications from people from all walks of life but we’d especially like to hear from you if you are younger, in a front-line role, or of Black, Asian or minority ethnic heritage.

Key duties

- Provide advice to the Chief Executive and other board members according to your expertise and in line with the Trust’s Constitution
- Sign off the Trust’s annual financial accounts, safeguarding the good name and values of the charity, and acting within the law
- Support the Chief Executive and team in the event of a national emergency.

South West Advocacy Network (SWAN) want to strengthen their Board of Trustees with up to 4 new Trustee appointments, including a Treasurer. These are voluntary positions and provide opportunity to help SWAN to develop its strategic direction and sustain innovative services to some of the most vulnerable people in our communities, primarily, but not solely, in counties across the South of England.
SWAN began life in Wiltshire and over the past 25 years has expanded into Somerset, Bristol, Dorset, Isle of Wight, West Berkshire and Portsmouth. We deliver high quality, independent advocacy services supporting a diverse range of vulnerable people. We have developed a model of advocacy which ensures everyone, including the most marginalised, have the same rights and opportunities as their fellow citizens. Overall responsibility:
- Leading on the financial affairs of the Foodbank; ensuring that they are conducted within the required legal, accounting and good practice conventions;

Oxfordshire Breastfeeding Support (OBS) is a small charity (a charitable incorporated organisation or CIO) providing free direct breastfeeding support to the families of Oxfordshire - via a mixture of virtual one to one appointments, in-person sessions, Zoom groups, a private Facebook group, antenatal workshops and work targeted at groups that are under-represented. OBS is seeking to recruit a trustee to act as treasurer of trustees for a period of 2-3 years. In addition to the responsibilities of a general trustee, treasurer of the trustees will:

The Role
We are interested in receiving applications from individuals keen to provide strategic direction to our organisation and work with us to ensure we develop and thrive in the future. As a trustee you will focus on:
• Helping ensure that we comply with any charity law, rules and regulations governing our work
• Actively contributing to Board discussions to provide clear strategic direction for our charity
• Helping to promote the values and safeguard the reputation of Imperial College Union
• Working collaboratively with other trustees and our Managing Director to contribute to the effective and efficient operations of our organisation
• Ensuring our charity’s governance is of the highest standard.
Person specification
In addition to the above, we would like to receive applications from individuals experienced in these areas:
· Strong financial acumen including financial planning, management, and strategy
· Familiarity with financial reporting requirements and regulatory compliance
· Knowledge of financial and broader risk management and the ability to identify and mitigate potential risks
· Proven ability to communicate and explain financial information to members of the Board and other stakeholders
· Understanding and acceptance of the role’s legal duties and responsibilities
· Collaborative mindset to work within a team environment
· Commitment to the charity’s objectives, aims and values and willingness to devote sufficient time to carry out responsibilities

withYOU are a social care charity giving over a thousand people in Edinburgh and the Lothians the support they need to live as independently as possible, providing care that makes a positive impact to the lives of vulnerable people.
The Charity are dedicated to delivering exceptional care through high quality, personalised services, that enable the people they support to live their best lives. withYOU work with people experiencing different levels of vulnerability, from those with lifelong support needs to those experiencing homelessness for the first time.
They do this across three core service areas – homelessness, prevention and housing support, learning disability and neurodiversity, and older age care.
With a strong senior leadership team and 250 multi-skilled staff, withYOU are an ambitious organisation undertaking a substantial transformation and improvement programme to expand their services and work towards a bigger and brighter future. We are looking for several trustees to join their board of trustees who can play an integral role in governing the charity.
The Role of Trustee
The withYOU Board plays a vital role in providing leadership and direction to the organisation. As a trustee, you will contribute to determining strategy, ensuring the availability of resources, and promoting high standards of governance to comply with legal and regulatory requirements. You will work collectively with other board members to monitor performance, assess risks, and oversee the implementation of innovative approaches to service provision and business development.
The role of Board Member is non-executive and unpaid; the Senior Leadership Team, led by the Chief Executive Officer, is responsible for operational management within a framework of controls established by the Board. In practice, the Board and CEO work in partnership to develop innovative approaches to business development and delivery and to safeguard the organisation’s future.
We are particularly interested in those who come from a background in: health and social care, finance, HR/organisational development, business development and risk/assessment.

Previous Trustee experience or senior managerial experience is not essential, what we value are individuals who have a keen interest in supporting the growth of withYOU through their unique skill sets, a strong commitment to deliver high-quality care and alignment to their values.
Board meetings are a mixture of online and in person in Edinburgh, there are a minimum of 6 meetings per year with additional time required for various events e.g., recruitment to senior roles, site/service visits, training and development. The estimated time commitment per month is 2.5-5 hours. The term is four years, with an option to extend for another term.
