About the role:

Porchlight is dedicated to supporting people facing homelessness, poor mental health, and poverty. Our donors are at the heart of everything we do, and we are looking for a strategic and visionary Supporter Development Manager to lead our individual giving and legacy programmes at a pivotal moment for the charity.

While you will be based at our Canterbury office (with a required attendance of every Tuesday to collaborate with the team), you will also benefit from our hybrid working policy.

You will lead on understanding our audiences and developing compelling donor journeys that build long-term, sustainable relationships. You will provide essential leadership, overseeing the individual giving budget and KPIs while line-managing the Senior Individual Giving Officer and Data Co-ordinator to ensure the highest standards of donor care. You will also play a vital role in planning and delivering bold, multi-channel campaigns that generate essential income, grow our donor base and bring our cause to life.

Working closely with the wider Fundraising and Communications teams, you will act as a spokesperson for our mission, turning data-driven insights into impactful action. Whether you are designing a new fundraising product, overseeing campaign performance reports, or ensuring our database management meets the highest regulatory standards, your work will directly empower our supporters to help us change lives.

The role requires:

• Managerial and Fundraising Expertise: You have a minimum of three years’ experience in a project management or direct line-management role, with a proven track record of meeting financial targets and KPIs.
• Administrative and Analytical Excellence: You are confident using digital tools (Word, Excel, Outlook) and CRM systems like Raiser’s Edge to manage complex data, track campaign activity, and ensure compliance with GDPR and Gift Aid regulations.
• Strategically-Minded and Creative: You have a strong understanding of donor journeys, digital marketing channels, and how to create products and messages that inspire long-term loyalty.
• Organised and Adaptable: You excel at managing multiple projects simultaneously and are willing to work flexibly, including occasional unsocial hours, to support fundraising initiatives and events.
• Impact Reporting: Using the Raiser’s Edge database to track progress against KPIs, manage donor data hygiene, and ensure every supporter is thanked personally.

Hours: Part-time, 28 hours per week (4 days)
Location: Hybrid working between the DSWF Shalford Office (GU4 8JU) for a minimum of two days per week (Tuesdays and Thursdays), and home with occasional travel
Annual Leave: 25 days per annum pro rata. Bank Holidays are also provided, and at DSWF’s discretion the office usually closes between Christmas and New Year (additional to annual leave)

Summary of the Role
The Director of Development (DoD) provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for all fundraising income and supporter engagement activity at DSWF. The role is accountable for delivering sustainable, diversified revenue growth aligned with DSWF’s mission across conservation, education and art, while building lasting relationships with major donors, trusts, foundations, corporate partners and senior supporters.

Working in close partnership with the CEO, COO, CFO, and Board of Trustees, the DoD translates organisational strategy into compelling Cases for Support, effective fundraising plans and measurable outcomes. The postholder leads and develops a high-performing Development team, ensuring strong delivery and continuous improvement.

As a member of the Senior Management Team (SMT), the Director shares responsibility for shaping the Foundation’s overall direction, contributing to governance, organisational culture and high-level strategic decision-making.

This is a pivotal position combining senior management with hands-on major gift fundraising and team leadership. Central to enabling the Foundation’s long-term impact and growth, the DoD is a driving force behind DSWF’s ability to successfully deliver its mission to protect endangered species in Africa and Asia.

Key responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
•Lead on the development, implementation, delivery and continuous refinement of DSWF’s multi-year Development strategy, ensuring alignment with organisational priorities and long-term financial sustainability.
•Advise the CEO and Trustees on fundraising performance, trends, risks and opportunities.
•Own and articulate the organisational Case/s for Support, ensuring a clear, compelling narrative that integrates conservation impact, education outcomes and artistic heritage.
•Working closely with the rest of the SMT, embed a culture of philanthropy across the organisation, enabling all team members, Trustees and ambassadors to actively support income generation.
•As part of SMT, be jointly responsible for over-arching decisions regarding the direction of the Foundation, its mission, strategies and culture.

Major & Strategic Fundraising
•Working closely with the CEO, cultivate, solicit and steward a portfolio of DSWF’s most significant donors and prospects, including major individual donors, trusts and foundations, legacy campaigns and strategic partners.
•Responsible, alongside the CEO, for the overall management of all corporate partnerships and sponsors.
•Design and lead bespoke solicitation strategies for new high-value prospects, involving the CEO, Trustees and senior colleagues as appropriate.
•Oversee the development of structured approaches to major giving, trusts & foundations, legacy giving and corporate partnerships.
•Have strategic oversight of lower-level individual giving programmes including appeals, regular individual giving and adoption schemes.
•Be responsible and ensure best practice in prospect research, due diligence, stewardship and ethical fundraising.

Team Leadership & Management
•Lead, manage and develop the Development team, setting clear objectives, KPIs and income targets aligned to the overall strategy.
•Ensure the structure, resourcing and capabilities of the team are fit for purpose and scalable as income grows.
•Coach and support all those within the organisation that are responsible for fundraising, providing professional leadership, mentoring and performance management.
•Lead on all training and offer career progression for all staff within the Development team.
•Foster strong collaboration between Development and all departments, including; Policy and Programmes, Marketing and Communications, Education, Art, Finance and Operations.

Supporter Engagement
•Represent DSWF externally with senior donors, partners and sector peers, enhancing the organisation’s profile and credibility.
•Oversee a high-quality supporter journey across all touchpoints, ensuring donors feel valued, informed and connected to impact including lower-level individual giving.
•Champion systematic all level stewardship, donor care and impact reporting to maximise retention, lifetime value and advocacy.
•Ensure accurate, GDPR-compliant data capture and effective use of CRM systems (Beacon) to drive insight-led fundraising.

Events
•This senior role will have overall responsibility for any fundraising or donor profile events (at present this would include the Wildlife Ball which is an annual fundraising/profile raising event that takes place at the Dorchester Hotel).
•Working closely with the rest of SMT, this role will direct the Development team to ensure that all events deliver optimum, high level donor experiences and are run professionally (with logistics and operational support from the COO and team).
•This role will have overall responsibility for ensuring the CEO has all information required to support engagement with donors at all events.

Governance & Reporting
•Report on Development performance to the CEO, SMT and Trustees, providing clear analysis against agreed targets.
•Work closely with Finance to support forecasting, budgeting and long-term income planning.
•Work closely with Finance and legal advisors in relation to all legal matters pertaining to legacies and bequests.
•Ensure all Development activity aligns with regulatory, governance and ethical standards.

Person Specification
Knowledge and Experience
•Significant senior leadership experience in fundraising and development within complex, mission-driven non-profit organisations, at Director level or equivalent, where philanthropy is critical to organisational impact and growth.
•Significant experience in leading and delivering long-term development strategies, with a demonstrable track record of translating organisational ambition into clear, costed and achievable fundraising plans.
•Proven ability to set strategic direction across multiple income streams, establish measurable objectives and KPIs and use data and insight to monitor performance, evaluate impact and adapt approach over time.
•Experience of driving sustained income growth, strengthening donor pipelines, and delivering measurable outcomes aligned to organisational priorities and long-term sustainability.

About the Role

Reporting to the Director of Fundraising & Communications, the Head of Major Gifts will lead the high-value fundraising activity, personally managing a portfolio of key supporters while leading the Major Gifts team (two direct reports and one dotted-line report). Working closely with the CEO (an experienced and active fundraiser), you will oversee a robust and disciplined prospect pipeline across major donors, trusts and foundations, and corporate partners, and you'll lead the management of the Development Board - an influential group of senior supporters and open doors to transformational philanthropy. The role will also shape and deliver inspiring donor engagement, from curated events and private tours to bespoke proposals, reports and stewardship communications, working in close partnership with senior leadership, clinicians and volunteers across the Trust.

To be successful, you will bring a demonstrable track record of securing six- and seven-figure gifts (relationship-led fundraising), alongside strong influencing skills. You will be a collaborative, motivating manager, comfortable setting direction and driving a high-performance culture, and confident producing compelling written cases for support, proposals and donor reports. You'll be highly organised, detail-focused, and able to thrive in a target-driven, fast-paced environment. Experience of the healthcare sector or arts sector is advantageous but not essential.

The role

The Individual Giving team is responsible for driving growth and income sustainability across Individual Giving (one-off donations, Regular Giving, Lottery) In Memory Giving, Legacy Giving and Major Giving. This is an exciting role and it will suit somebody who enjoys working across our different fundraising products, with particular focus on one-off donations, Regular Giving and In Memory Giving. The role will focus on the acquisition and stewardship of donors, maintaining a fantastic donor journey for longer term engagement. The role holder will need to own and manage their workstreams, drawing on the expertise of other in-house teams from Marketing to Finance. The need for accuracy in data and administrative work requires the role holder to have a keen eye for detail and a respect for processes and regulations.

Philanthropy will play a defining role in delivering this ambition. With plans to significantly scale income over the coming years, we are seeking a senior, commercially-minded Philanthropy Lead to drive high-value growth and deepen engagement with influential supporters across Northern Ireland 

As Philanthropy Lead, you will take ownership of a high-value donor portfolio, securing and stewarding five and six figure gifts while driving forward a donor-centric fundraising strategy.

You will operate as a trusted partner to senior leaders and influential stakeholders, leveraging networks, insight and opportunity to build a sustainable pipeline of philanthropic support.

Alongside income generation, you will play a key role in shaping how Marie Curie engages high-net-worth individuals bringing innovation, credibility and strategic thinking to a growing function.

What you’ll be doing

• Building a pipeline of new high-net-worth individuals through proactive outreach, networking and relationship building
• Owning and driving your own workload, managing your prospect pipeline and identifying new opportunities
• Initiating conversations, arranging face-to-face meetings and creating bespoke cultivation journeys
• Working closely with senior leaders and volunteers to develop and progress donor relationships
• Developing compelling propositions and confidently making five and six-figure asks
• Using creativity, curiosity and insight to spot opportunities others might miss
• Representing Marie Curie externally and helping grow our profile with influential audiences

Who we’re looking for

• Proven experience in major donor or philanthropy fundraising
• A proven record of securing significant philanthropic income, including five and six figure gifts
• The credibility and presence to engage and influence high-net-worth individuals and senior stakeholders
• Strong commercial judgement combined with a donor-centric, relationship-led approach
• Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling cases for support and lead high-value conversations
• Strategic thinking, resilience and the ability to navigate complexity and ambiguity
• A collaborative mindset, with the confidence to contribute across a high-performing national team

Context of Job
AFK is a national charity whose mission is to create opportunities for children and young people who are disabled or neurodiverse, to increase their independence, reach their individual potential and remove the barriers they face.
Our vision is a world where there are no barriers to independence for children and young people who are disabled or neurodivergent.
In response to this we offer bespoke employment skills training and organise work experience across North London. At a national level, we provide mobility equipment not available on the NHS for disabled children and young people up to the age of 25.

Overall Job Purpose
The Chief Executive Officer will provide strategic leadership and operational management for the charity, working closely with the Board of Trustees to deliver our mission and ensure AFK's sustainability and growth. You will lead a team of around 30 staff and volunteers, managing an annual budget of approximately £2 million.
As the visible leader of the organisation, you'll inspire and motivate the team through your presence and engagement. You'll be responsible for building strong team relationships, providing hands-on support when required, and will demonstrate the charity's values in everything you do. By leading from the front and showing the commitment and passion that drives AFK forward, you'll create a culture where everyone is motivated to deliver their best work.

Working Conditions
The post is 35 hours a week, normally 9:00am to 5:00pm, Monday to Friday. The post holder may be expected to work some evenings and weekends as required by the job.
28 days annual leave will be given in addition to public holidays.

Working Relationships
The CEO will maintain close working relationships across all levels of the organisation and with external stakeholders. You'll work collaboratively with a Board of eight trustees to drive the charity's strategy forward, providing regular updates and ensuring effective governance.
You'll line manage members of the Senior Management Team, ensuring a cohesive and effective leadership group.
Building and nurturing relationships with key funders, partners, and supporters will be essential to the role. You'll act as an ambassador for the charity with AFK’s stakeholders, representing our mission and impact. Developing strong networks within the sector and maintaining meaningful connections with service users will be vital to ensuring the charity remains responsive and relevant to those it serves.
You'll also build visible and accessible connections with the wider staff team through regular communication and engagement across the organisation.
Importantly, this is a hands-on leadership role with a direct portfolio responsibility. In addition to your organisational leadership duties, you will lead and manage one of our core functional areas, whether that is Service Delivery, Fundraising, or Finance and Operations. You'll bring your specialist expertise and people management skills to this area, taking ownership of its performance and development.
This means the CEO role combines strategic leadership of the whole organisation with active, day-to-day accountability for a defined part of it.

The Senior Fundraising Manager is responsible for delivering Brightside’s fundraising activity with a core focus on grants from trusts and foundations, and major donors. Reporting to and working closely with the CEO, the postholder will forge new relationships with major donors and manage our grant applications to support Brightside to achieve its fundraising targets. The postholder will deliver high quality stewardship across our major donor relationships and act as the key point of contact for all grant activity, working closely with the delivery teams to support funder relationship management and reporting.

The postholder will work closely with colleagues across the organisation to develop clear cases for support for potential funding projects, as well as managing our approach to individual giving and increasing regular donations. The role will involve working closely with the CEO and the trustees, who will provide warm introductions to their networks of potential major donors and support in their stewardship.

Responsible for:

Trusts and foundations:

• Identify and research trusts and foundations that would support our organisational priorities and funding needs
• Develop high quality, compelling grant applications and cases for support
• Build and maintain a healthy pipeline of funding opportunities
• Lead funder relationship management and deliver high-quality stewardship
• Lead on grant reporting, including monitoring, accountability and opportunities for reapplication
• Working closely with technology and delivery teams to build evidence-based cases for support for key projects
