Based within the SSJ&I Alcohol and Drug Service in Southampton, you will be part of a team that offers a wide range of vital interventions, including one-to-ones, therapeutic group work, needle exchange, and prescribing interventions to people recovering from challenges with drugs and alcohol.

In this role, you will:

• Support Journeys: Work directly within the service to support a small, identified group of people throughout their treatment and recovery journey.
• Deliver Person-Centred Care: Use a person-centred approach to empower people who want to make changes to their lives, helping them access the interventions that matter most to them.
• Build Connections: Create strong relationships with key partner agencies and stakeholders to support robust joint working relationships and holistic client care.
• Expand Your Reach: As you develop your skills and confidence, you will increase your work outside of the main office, providing needs-led support in community settings and alongside partner agencies.

OASIS PARENT AND CARER SUPPORT WORKER

In April 2021 we launched the GM Navigators project to support young people impacted by youth violence.  In response to feedback from parents and carers, the PACS project was set up in 2023 to assist Parents and Carers identifying their child as ‘at risk’. Since this the service has gone from strength to strength with Parents and Carers engaging from all 10 GM boroughs.  We have securing funding to continue this project until 2027 with potential for further extensions.

Oasis is recruiting a PAC Support Worker to be part of the PAC Project.   

As a PAC Support Worker you will;

· Support parent and carers that identify their child is “at risk” offering them advice and guidance, practical support and linking them in with services/groups that will provide them with a sustainable support network.

· Help parents and carers to develop projects to raise awareness of the issues they are facing, offering peer support and influence policy and system change. 

· Be trained in Non-Violent Resistance (NVR) and other parenting approaches to support parents and carers to respond to their children’s needs, de-escalate situations and maintain good relationships within their home.

· Delivering our ‘Encounter’ Parenting Training (based on the principles of NVR) online and in-person to groups of parents and host online and in-person support groups for parents and carers.

· Be integral to the shaping and development of the PAC project utilizing the feedback of those you are working with to ensure the project is impactful and meeting parent’s and carers needs as a priority.

• Empower Parents and Carers that want to set up groups or run campaigns to raise awareness of issues they are facing.  Managing resources to support them to turn their ambitions into reality.

Amongst other requirements, the successful post holder must have:

· A demonstratable relevant experience OR qualification in Youth & Community (JNC) or Social Work (QSW) or SEND

About the role:

We are looking to appoint a Family Support Worker on a full-time basis (35 hours, 5 days per week), to deliver a high-quality family support service as part of our London & South East Team to families in the local area, at a time where they need it most. 

Reporting to the Family Support Manager of the London & South East Care Team and working in partnership with health, education and social care professionals, you will take responsibility for providing needs-led emotional, social and practical support to families where a child or young person has a life threatening or terminal illness. We are recruiting for a Children and Young People’s Independent Sexual Violence Advocate (ChISVA) to support and empower young survivors of sexual violence and abuse.

The ChISVA will provide information, support, advice and advocacy to children and young people who have experienced sexual assault or sexual abuse in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. The post holder will deliver child-centred support to young survivors and non-abusing care givers around criminal justice processes, wellbeing, education and safety, while ensuring child protection procedures are followed at all times.

The post holder will work closely with other agencies such as Social Care, the Police, Education, the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) and voluntary sector organisations to ensure that children and young people are kept safe and are well supported. They will prioritise, assess, plan, evaluate and deliver all relevant aspects of support to an agreed and expected high standard.

Who are we?

St. John's is a non-maintained specialist provision, working with autistic people, the majority of whom also have learning disabilities. Some of our learners have co-occurring conditions such as epilepsy, hearing or visual impairments, or mental health needs. We also support autistic learners who have an additional profile of Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA) syndrome. We have a team built up of support workers, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, nurses, PBS practitioners, assistant psychologists, and more, to support us in our holistic approach to development.

Each learner's curriculum is shaped by their individual strengths, interests, and challenges. St. John's is awarded with Autism Accreditation by the National Autistic Society (NAS). We support our learners to develop their skills in the NAS's four focus areas of:

• Difference in social communication and interaction
• Self-reliance and problem-solving
• Sensory
• Emotional Well-being

What are we looking for?

We've been doing this long enough to know that, whilst desirable, experience is not everything! Our amazing learning and development team and our passionate managers have coached people new to this field into support working roles. We know that if you have, the passion and desire to learn, and the want to empower others, you already have the foundations of an outstanding support worker. We are looking for drivers to support our young people to access the community, but having a licence isn't essential.

What will you be doing?

• Supporting the young people in a classroom setting and during breaktimes
• Implementing the learner's behaviour support plan and risk assessment
• Working within a team of multidisciplinary professionals across the charity
• Tracking the progress of individuals and reporting to the teacher, care manager, and/or parents at review meetings.
