Job description
The Role

A professional regulatory body is looking to appoint a Regulatory Officer, Supervision to support the risk-based supervision of individuals, organisations and education/training providers within a regulated professional environment. The role will involve gathering and analysing information, assessing risk, supporting supervision activity and contributing to reports and projects that help maintain high regulatory standards.

The work is varied and will include proactive supervision activity such as desk-based reviews, questionnaires, compliance testing, supervision visits and thematic reviews. You will also support reactive work by assessing reports or concerns received from stakeholders and working with colleagues across the organisation on wider regulatory priorities.

This is a collaborative and supportive team environment, with the opportunity to engage with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. You will need to communicate confidently and professionally, both verbally and in writing, and be comfortable working across different projects and priorities.

This is a full-time, hybrid, permanent role, working 2 days per week in the office in Central London.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Undertaking risk-based supervision using a range of tools, including returns, questionnaires, desk-based reviews, supervision visits, thematic reviews, compliance testing and assessment of reports received
  • Analysing information and producing reports on supervision activity.
  • Planning and implementing supervision projects, including setting up systems to administer them effectively.
  • Supporting the smooth running of the team through inbox management, electronic document management, arranging visits, organising meetings, taking minutes and supporting contract and expense administration
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders to support effective regulatory outcomes.
About You

You will be able to demonstrate:

  • The ability to analyse information, assess risk and make decisions within a regulatory framework.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to work independently, prioritise effectively and deliver results in a busy environment
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey information accurately and professionally.
  • The ability to build effective working relationships across and beyond organisational boundaries.
  • A flexible approach to work, with the ability to adapt when priorities or circumstances change.
  • Confident use of standard Microsoft business software.
The following experience would be advantageous, but is not essential:

  • Knowledge or understanding of a regulatory regime.
  • Understanding of the legal profession or a comparable professional services environment.
  • Experience in higher education, professional education, compliance, quality assurance or regulation.
  • Experience undertaking risk-based reviews or applying a risk framework.
  • Experience managing projects using standard project management principles.
