Prostate cancer is harming too many men, in exchange for too few cures, which is why we are motivated more than ever to deliver a future where prostate cancer is no longer limiting men’s lives. We invest in the most innovative research which will expand our understanding of prostate cancer and one day improve the lives of men with the disease. Recently we announced the funding of the TRANSFORM study, a £42 million programme to trial on a national scale new ways to screen for prostate cancer. It’s through this initiative that we intend to generate the definitive evidence needed to underpin a national screening programme for prostate cancer which could save thousands of men’s lives each year.
What the job involves
As a Diagnosis Research Lead, you’ll oversee the management of the TRANSFORM study on behalf of the charity, closely monitoring progress and spend against project timelines/budgets and regularly reporting back to key stakeholders internally and externally about this exciting initiative. You’ll regularly liaise with the study leads and the wider network of collaborators, as well as set up and oversee the management of the governance steering committees for the programme.
You’ll develop a detailed understanding of our portfolio of research and the wider diagnostic research landscape for prostate cancer, establishing and maintaining relationships with relevant research groups and companies working in the diagnostic space. This role will also involve working closely with colleagues in our communications and fundraising directorates to showcase the TRANSFORM study to public, scientific and healthcare professional audiences, demonstrating our research efforts towards achieving earlier and accurate diagnosis.
What we want from you
We believe the TRANSFORM study will generate practice-changing evidence to support screening for prostate cancer, with the potential to save thousands of men’s lives in the UK each year. This is therefore a critical role to us. We’re looking for someone who is passionate about, and experienced in, research grant management and in particular, the management and delivery of multi-site clinical trials.
We’re looking for someone who is enthusiastic about research and able to understand and communicate complex scientific information found in applications, progress reports, research papers and presentations. You’ll be a confident and clear communicator, able to build strong working relationships and provide valuable support to a wide range of stakeholders, including senior researchers, senior colleagues, trustees, corporate partners and committee members.
With experience in project management, you’ll have an ability to organise and prioritise a diverse workload depending on business need, delivering to stipulated timeframes whilst consistently maintaining the highest standards, with a meticulous attention to detail. This role will also require you to be proficient in the use of standard IT packages (most notably Microsoft Office), ideally with experience of grant management software such as Symplectic Grant Tracker.
Importantly, you must be excited and motivated about achieving major improvements for men with, or at high risk of, prostate cancer.

Lewisham Foodbank is run by Transform Network (www.transformnetwork.london), a partnership of local churches. We have the Trussell Trust franchise for the London Borough of Lewisham and are one of a network of 1500 Trussell Trust foodbanks across the UK. The foodbank, which has been operating since November 2012, is founded on Christian principles. Not every member of the team is a Christian, but we all subscribe to the same values and would expect the new team member will too. Purpose of the Post
This role will support the smooth running of all Lewisham Foodbank operations by providing effective and supportive communications to those who contact the main Foodbank phone line and inbox. The postholder will be based at the New Hope Centre office (353H Bromley Road, SE6 2RP) and will respond to enquiries in a timely manner with relevant information, or direct them to the relevant staff member. The candidate must have excellent interpersonal skills and will communicate well with other team members, clients and external organisations to troubleshoot when challenges arise, sometimes being required to provide information and support to people facing complex and distressing situations. The postholder will liaise and work closely with the rest of the team to ensure safeguarding procedures are followed and communication is in line with our policies and values.
Lewisham Foodbank works on a referral system and works with over 500 local organisations who refer people to our services. The postholder will be responsible for setting up new referral agencies on our system and sending out onboarding information and regular updates to these partners. They will also have responsibility for checking requests for home deliveries and coordinating the preparation and administration of these with a small group of delivery volunteers. This may occasionally require phoning clients and packing deliveries themselves if a volunteer has not been able to attend.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
● Respond promptly to enquiries on the main food bank phone and inbox from visitors, referrals organisations, donors and others.
● Either reply to enquiries or forward to the relevant member of staff.
● Sort emails into relevant folders and update records, when necessary, on the data collection system.
● Assess requests for deliveries and co-ordinate with delivery volunteer teams to prepare and deliver to a small group of clients’ homes.
● Liaise with referral agencies when more information or communication about deliveries is required.
● Keep the database updated with delivery requests.
● Set up new partners as referral agencies on the Data Collection System and send them all the relevant onboarding information.
● Contact referrers where clients have exceeded voucher limits and agree ongoing support in collaboration with the Project Manager.
● Create and send thank you certificates to donors at regular intervals.
● Support administrative volunteers to issue e-vouchers on behalf of job centres and other agencies that are not signed up as referrers.
● Deal with enquiries regarding Acts 435 grants and provide relevant information or signposting.
● Participate in relevant training courses and Food Network meetings.
● Keep up to date with local support and signposting information.
● Occasionally take minutes at meetings.
● Occasionally visit foodbank distribution centres and be prepared to step in to help at centres or the warehouse if there is an unexpected shortage of volunteers.
● To use online data systems and ensure all warehouse paperwork is stored securely in line with GDPR.

40% of children from disadvantaged backgrounds leave primary school in England each year unable to read to the expected standard - many of these children fall behind with reading simply because they lack the opportunity to practise.
Chapter One is a small but growing charity with a vision of a world in which all children have the literacy skills needed to thrive. Our mission is to close the reading gap by providing children with one-to-one support at the time they need it most. We work in eleven areas/regions of the UK and will support 3,300 children in 2024-25.
Our unique Online Reading Volunteer programme pairs disadvantaged, struggling five to eight-year old (KS1) readers with reading support volunteers who are working professionals. The volunteer ask is very focused: readers commit 30 minutes a week to read with a child using a bespoke digital platform for an entire academic year. The results are transformative, boosting children's reading confidence and ability.
This role is an exciting opportunity for someone to contribute to the work of our fast-growing charity. You will work as part of the Chapter One Support Team, ensuring that our online reading volunteers have everything that they need - from onboarding to assisting with ID checks and responding to email queries. We are working with an independent research institute who are recruiting for a Executive Assistant to the Director and COO. Overview of job
We are hiring a Finance and Grants Assistant to support financial and grants operations processes. Responsibilities include participating in the operational and administrative activities of the finance function, leading to the accurate recording of financial information for accounting purposes, as well as managing financial records, and supporting our grant-making processes.

Successfully complete daily and weekly finance and grants tasks, successfully managing the finance and grants email inboxes and be confident answering questions and resolving queries.

Responsibilities of the role
Finance – approx. 40%
Day-to-day financial management of the charity and its Trading subsidiary including, but not limited to:
-
Process all day-to-day transactions on the finance system, Xero, including income received from fundraising platforms, ensuring a full audit trail of data processing.

Complete daily bank reconciliations for all entities, including recording and banking cheques and processing petty cash.
-
Raise sales invoices as requested, following procedures to set up in customer systems, and follow up with customers to ensure timely payment.
-
Process purchase invoices and expense claims, ensuring appropriate authorisation, in line with delegated authorisations.
-
Set up weekly payment runs for approval by the Head of Finance.
-
Monitor all financial processes, ensuring finance policies are complied with and deadlines are met, including electronic and physical filing of finance and legal documents.

Complete month end tasks, enabling to the Head of Finance to close the month, including selected balance sheet reconciliations.

Keep Gift Aid records up-to-date and assist the Head of Finance with the preparation of Gift Aid claims.

Assist with the year-end audit, ensuring all relevant paperwork is tidily filed.

Collaborating with the fundraising team, exploring fundraising and donation collection mechanics, identify new developments in the sector and helping to embed any system changes.

Train and support the charity team on the charity’s finance processes.

Provide cover for the Governance & Team Co-ordinator in periods of absence.
Grants – approx. 60%

Support the Grants Team to process charity applications for funding, including communicating with interested parties, summarising applications, compiling relevant information, conducting research as required and helping to organise related meetings and Grants Panels.

Preparing and processing funding agreements, reporting forms and other associated paperwork for grants.

Working with charities to collect and develop storytelling information such as quotes, pictures and case studies, and support sourcing participants and contributors for radio interviews and other editorial pieces as needed.

Supporting the team in the organisation, planning and delivery of our skills training programme for charities.

Writing copy for our website and newsletters, and ownership of our communication planner for our charities.

Managing the Grants Team inbox and being the first point of call for queries.

Leading on the management of data and uploading of information on our database (Salesforce), complying with GDPR requirements.

General administrative tasks across the both the Grants and wider charities team, undertaking adhoc projects and supporting initiatives and events as requested.

The London Library is looking for an Acquisitions and Discovery Assistant to assist in the acquisition and management of Library E-resources and print resources.
The role includes supporting the successful acquisition and seamless delivery of electronic resources to library users, utilising and maintaining relevant library systems and records; assisting purchasing decisions and supporting licensing, ordering and payment processes; verifying access, liaising with suppliers & Library IT, and ensuring correct metadata is presented to users; plus monitoring resource use and collecting data for the evaluation of subscriptions. - Assisting clients to complete online and paper forms both face-to-face and remotely
- Liaising in a positive manner with our stakeholders, eg. clients, other teams within Westway Trust, our funder, a City Law firm, and our hosts, Westway Trust and St Luke’s Community Centre
- Responsibility for monitoring our work, completing simple reports, writing case studies, making sure volunteers complete their data entry after advising clients, and running case management statistics using AdvicePro, our case management system) (training on AdvicePro will be provided)

- Triaging clients, including reading appellant’s hearing bundles to assess the merits of their case

- Guiding and case managing lawyers/law students on applications for leave to appeal/set aside to the Upper Tribunal/Judiciary, (from the Lower Tribunal). Full training will be given
