We are recruiting for an Employment Specialist – Connect To Work in North Tyneside.

We are seeking a motivated and passionate Employment Specialist to support people across North Tyneside to secure and sustain meaningful employment. Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will provide personalised employment support to individuals facing barriers to work, including those with mental health conditions, disabilities, long-term health conditions, or other complex needs.

You will work closely with employers, health professionals, community services, and local partners to create opportunities that enable people to achieve their employment goals. Job Purpose

Using the Individual Placement & Support (IPS) model, you’ll provide person-centred information, advice and guidance to a caseload of around 25 clients, helping them access, return to, and sustain employment that is right for them.

You’ll also build strong employer relationships to source suitable opportunities and work closely with partners, including health providers, mental health services, JCP and other employment organisations, to ensure clients receive joined-up support.

We’re looking for someone who is:

• Passionate about supporting people in North Tyneside to access, return to, or sustain meaningful employment.
• A strong communicator, confident engaging with people, and referral partners and health care professionals.
• Equipped with strong analytical and problem-solving ability, able to assess needs and identify effective employment solutions.
• Skilled at building and maintaining strong employer relationships in line with the IPS and Connect to Work model, creating opportunities that support people to move into, return to, or sustain meaningful employment.
• Experienced at maintaining detailed participant paperwork and CRM records that demonstrate a person-centred, empathetic and proactive approach, evidencing tailored support and a genuine commitment to helping participants succeed.
• Highly organised, with the ability to manage a varied caseload and meet deadlines.
• Experienced in demonstrating the IPS Place, Train and Maintain approach through participant paperwork and CRM records, evidencing timely job search activity, personalised in-work support, ongoing engagement, and interventions designed to help participants obtain and sustain employment.

About the roles

Since 2018, the LRU has grown its membership to over 7,000 renters across London.  Through our six branches, we support renters to take action to transform the housing system.  Organising in communities, the LRU runs training, facilitates peer support, takes collective action and campaigns on local issues, to grow our power.

The purpose of this role is to support the growth and collective leadership of our branch members in and around the Brent branch or the Newham branch. This work will support the union’s fundamental goal of transforming the housing system, in alignment with our values and strategy agreements. The work will include recruiting and activating new members, and facilitating leadership from a broad base of renters, with a particular emphasis on working with those who face the worst impacts of the housing crisis. 

How we work at LRU

You will be part of the LRU staff team alongside 15 other staff, who work with members to build the power of the union by organising, campaigning, training and facilitating peer support and member solidarity actions.  We expect staff to uphold the union's values, and work together to implement collectively agreed strategies.  Each staff member has a line manager, and the staff team are accountable to the elected member Coordinating Group, and to each other.

Key decisions are held by branch and elected member Coordinating Group, with staff inputting into and facilitating these decisions.

Job description 

This role is varied, and can look different month-to-month.  This job description outlines some activities that you will be doing every month, and some activities that you will only do from time-to-time.

Building the power of the union

• Organising with a branch to identify and build a base building campaign or bigger dispute on an issue that aligns with our strategy, moves renters to action and builds the base of the branch, particularly among renters facing precarity and oppression. This includes supporting a branch to develop their organising plan, building teams, facilitating meetings, research, outreach, social media, action planning or anything else that helps build an effective campaign. Normally an organiser would only work on one main project or campaign within a branch.
• Providing support to members to set up and run teams, organise actions and make sure branch meetings and weekly meetings are welcoming and effective. Setting up teams or meeting structures might be the main project that an organiser works on before moving on to working on a bigger campaign.
• Recruiting and activating members. This includes carrying out regular outreach sessions with members and making weekly calls to follow up with new contacts. As much as possible, this will be linked to a branch’s main campaign and/or the union’s strategic priorities. 
• Participating in cross-staff regular outreach and calls sessions.  This can include weekly organiser call sessions, outreach sessions in other branches, and facilitating welcome calls.
• Supporting the branch to link its activity to the broader democratic structures of the union, including cross-union strategy, trainings and working groups, and upholding LRU values and agreements. 

Building leadership

• Building the skills and leadership of member organisers by having ongoing coaching 1:1s with 3-5 role holders and member leaders in the branch to support them to lead the branch, run teams and support others to become organisers. It will also occasionally include working with other staff to prepare and run skills training for members.
• Having organising conversations with members who face housing precarity or oppression to support them to get more involved in the teams in the branch.
• Making sure the database is kept up to date, including tracking engagement and recording call outcomes, and supporting members to use it.
• Responding to requests for support via the website. 

Building collective capacity

• Supporting members to develop, participate and mobilise as part of cross-union campaigns, to tell their stories and take part in communications work.
• Taking part in team meetings and participating in the staff Organising Team. 
• Joining staff working groups when capacity allows.
• Supporting democratic processes.
• Fostering collaboration between branches.
• Inputting into staff decisions and LRU strategy discussions.

Person specification

Essential 

• Strong interpersonal skills, and the ability build deep, trusting relationships across difference, and including people in distress
• Experience of recruiting and activating people through outreach activities (door-knocking, and street stalls) and 121 organising conversations
• Ability to empower and motivate our members to take action
• Experience of organising workplace or community-based disputes or campaigns, or collective fighting on material issues

The Senior Legal Counsel is the first port of call for colleagues putting together and advising on new legal arrangements and documenting our leading health partnerships and fundraising activities. The Senior Legal Counsel works with the Foundation’s Legal team in providing legal advice and guidance for the Foundation’s innovative, impact-led programmes and activities, supporting our fundraising team alongside our fundraising compliance manager, and our work with Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust. This role also assists with varied internal governance and compliance matters. 

Key Responsibilities 

Charitable Partnerships (Impact on Urban Health) 

• Identify relevant legal and compliance considerations on projects and activities within the IoUH team and work with IoUH to put in place appropriate mechanisms or policies to manage issues that are identified. 
• Structure and assist colleagues with drafting and negotiating agreements for a wide variety of charitable partnerships, including commercial contracts, grants, IP licences, novel investment models, revenue-sharing arrangements and data agreements. 
• Act as a thought partner with the team to advise on the structuring, legal risks and strategic implications of partnerships and future opportunities. 
• Maintain and appropriately file correspondence and documentation relating to commercial contracts. 

Fundraising (Charities)

• Identify and advise on relevant legal and regulatory considerations in respect of our fundraising activities and work with our fundraising compliance manager and the fundraising team to ensure our fundraising activities are carried out in accordance with the relevant regulations.
• Drafting and supporting colleagues in negotiating a variety of fundraising agreements, including charity of the year agreements, commercial participation agreements, sponsorship agreements and pledge agreements.

• Work closely with our fundraising compliance manager to ensure data protection aspects of our fundraising activities are managed appropriately. 

Procedure and Policy Efficiencies

• Draft, maintain and update our internal guidelines, policies and standard-form documents.

Tailored Partnerships 

• Consider legal considerations, and appropriate processes, for working with certain partners (e.g. regulatory, private gain, data protection, policy), including advising on due diligence procedures and tailoring our standard form templates. 
• Work with cross-functional stakeholders on longer-term projects to change our partnership models to cede power to the communities we work with, whilst balancing this against our charity law obligations. 

Cross-Functional Work

We are looking for a highly organised and detail-focused Venue Systems and Business Administrator to support the smooth running of our venue hire business. Working as part of the Clio Venue Sales Team, you will provide essential administrative, financial, systems and reporting support, helping to ensure accurate data, efficient processes and excellent service for clients and colleagues.

In this role, you will help maintain the venue booking and event management system, issue invoices, monitor payments, support financial reconciliations, prepare reports, and contribute to improvements across bookings, sales and operational workflows. We are looking for a warm, thoughtful and organised Dementia Adviser to join our supportive team in London Borough of Bexley working 21 hours per week on a 12 months fixed term contract.

You'll regularly travel between different locations across London Borough of Bexley, manage your own diary and build relationships with a wide range of people. This role involves being out in communities throughout the week, so you'll need to be comfortable travelling independently and working across different locations as part of your normal working pattern.

While some planning and administration can be completed from home, the focus of this role is being present in communities, meeting people face to face and building trusted local connections.

You will work closely with people living with dementia and those who care about them, providing ongoing support. You will listen carefully, understand what matters most to each person and offer guidance that helps them feel steadier and more confident as their situation changes.
Your days will be varied and meaningful. You might be visiting someone at home, offering calm reassurance over the phone, or working closely with other professionals to make sure the right support is in place. We operate a triage system for new referrals and you will play your part in making sure people are responded to quickly and thoughtfully. You will manage your own caseload, keeping clear and accurate records, while always seeing the person behind the paperwork.

You will be part of a caring and dynamic local team who share ideas, reflect together and support one another. There will be time to meet as a team and opportunities to keep growing your knowledge of dementia, with your manager and colleagues alongside you. We provide training and ongoing support.

You don't need previous dementia experience to apply. You may have gained these skills through customer service, retail, education, housing, hospitality, community work, charities, faith organisations or other people focused roles. You may also have personal experience of supporting or caring for someone affected by dementia.

About You and the Role:

The Expeditions & Fieldwork Officer will join a specialised team at a time of transition and growth, helping to expand the Society's capacity to support expedition and fieldwork practitioners and reinforce its position as an international leader in geographical exploration.

Drawing upon first-hand experience of expeditions or field research, the post holder will support the delivery of the Society's advice, information, training and outreach activities. They will act as a key point of contact for the exploration community, assisting with enquiries, maintaining specialist information resources and contributing to the development of practical guidance and publications.

The role combines operational and administrative responsibilities with support for a wide range of public engagement activities. This includes producing the Society's monthly exploration community bulletin, helping to organise training for grant recipients, maintaining exploration directories and databases, creating digital resources, and supporting the delivery of events including the annual RGS Explore Weekend.

The successful candidate will bring experience of expeditions or fieldwork together with strong communication, organisational and digital skills. Working as part of a small, collaborative team, they will help ensure the Society's support for modern geographical exploration remains rigorous, accessible and impactful as the community continues to grow.

This is a permanent, full-time post subject to successful completion of a probationary period of three months. The salary range for this post is £30,295 to £32,930 per annum depending on experience and qualifications. The post is based in Kensington, London.

ABOUT BRIGHTPIP

BrightPIP (Brighton Parent-Infant Psychological Therapy) is a specialist infant mental health charity supporting babies aged 0–2 and their families across Brighton & Hove and Sussex. We want every baby in our community to grow up feeling safe, healthy and loved. We provide early therapeutic intervention to strengthen relationships and prevent cycles of intergenerational trauma. We are a small, friendly and growing charity, supported by a dedicated clinical team and Trustee Board.

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a trainee Infant and Early Years Practitioner (IEYP), on a course run in partnership with the Anna Freud Centre and University College London (UCL). The post-holder will be training on the Children and Young People’s (CYP) Infant Mental Health (0-5) course, whilst carrying out clinical work in our service to complement their studies and use their newly developed skills.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is a training role that is part of the NHS England (NHSE) funded CYP Psychological Trainings Therapy Programme (CYP-PT Therapy PGDip).  This intensive training post will equip practitioners with a comprehensive skillset to provide interventions to families using the latest evidence-based approaches. This will include training in Video-feedback Intervention to Promote Positive Parenting (VIPP) and supporting families where the child is experiencing regulatory difficulties.

Alongside the theoretical teaching of the training programme, the post-holder will have the opportunity to work within the BrightPIP service, providing practical interventions to families across Brighton & Hove. They will be integrated into our team of Clinical Psychologists and Psychotherapists and will take referrals as part of our service offer.

The successful post-holder will work in the BrightPIP service for 2.5 days per week and attend university for 2-3 days per week, with some study days spread throughout the year. During university holidays the trainee will continue to work with families.

FURTHER INFORMATION

This government-funded initiative promotes the growth and skill of the child mental health workforce to meet much needed demand. NHSE covers salary and training costs for a one-year full-time position, allowing services to employ trainees to support specialist pathways to bridge the gaps in CYP mental health support.

The role begins in January 2027 and the trainee will be both a fixed-term employee of BrightPIP and an enrolled student with UCL/Anna Freud. Upon completion, qualified trainees will receive a UCL Postgraduate Diploma. 

Training will be a mixture of in person, online sessions and self-study. Applicants must be willing to travel to Anna Freud in Central London (Rodney St, N1 9JH) to attend their lectures as needed. This is a unique opportunity that allows you to apply your learning week-to-week into practical clinical interventions making a direct impact on the lives of children and their families.
