We are seeking a volunteer with professional investment experience to join our Audit & Finance Committee, supporting the Board in its responsibility for financial oversight, governance and assurance. 

This role would suit someone who has worked as an investment consultant, investment manager, or in a similar advisory capacity, and who can bring independent expertise to strengthen the Committee’s oversight of our investment arrangements. 

Scripture Union holds investments of approximately £1.9 million (including a capital endowment of around £0.65 million) and a further c.£0.8 million held in cash or cash-equivalent deposits to support liquidity needs. These invested assets are managed externally by Rathbones through charity-specific pooled investment funds. Investment decisions are made in line with our ethical investment policy, which ensures that funds avoid sectors inconsistent with our Christian values. 

About the role 

As part of a broader remit covering financial reporting, internal controls, audit, risk management and compliance, the Committee also plays a key role in: 

• reviewing and approving our investment policies; and 

• monitoring the performance of the investment management, making recommendations to the Board where appropriate.

In this context, you will help the Committee: 

• monitor the performance of our funds managed by Rathbones; 

• provide constructive challenge on investment performance and reporting; 

• support the Committee in reviewing whether the current investment strategy and asset mix remains appropriate; and 

• contribute to providing assurance that there is a robust level of due diligence, oversight and governance in place. 

This is not a fund management role. Instead, it is a governance role focused on independent scrutiny, challenge and assurance, as part of the Committee’s wider responsibilities for financial performance, control and risk management. 

What you will bring 

We are particularly interested in candidates with: 

• experience as an investment consultant, investment manager, or similar; 

• strong understanding of investment performance, asset allocation and risk; 

• experience of reviewing investment manager reports and providing insight at a strategic level;

About The Stray Cat Charity (TSCC)

The Stray Cat Charity is a newly established UK-registered CIO working to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome stray cats in Greece, starting in Patras. Our current priority campaign is to raise £35,000 to build a dedicated stray cat shelter in Patras, Greece, which will provide safe housing, veterinary care, and a pathway to adoption for vulnerable cats. As a growing new charity, we are building our fundraising and outreach network across the UK.

Role Purpose

The Isabel Blackman Centre is a much-loved community venue in the heart of the Old Town, Hastings providing a haven for health, wellbeing, and leisure. Facilities include an exercise studio and gym, café restaurant, activity and event space, treatment rooms, accessible bathing facilities and a community shop. We’re not going to sugar-coat it, things aren’t great for working parents and pregnant women. It can feel frustrating and a bit depressing at times, but by being part of the Pregnant Then Screwed volunteer team, you get to turn that frustration into something positive. In the last year the fantastic volunteers on our Advice Line have spoken to over 5000 women and parents, collectively providing around 40 hours of free support and advice every week. Hundreds of women and parents call our Advice Line every day, but with a small team of volunteers we are only able to answer a fraction of those calls—this is where you come in.

We are looking for brilliant HR professionals who want to help Pregnant Then Screwed tackle the Motherhood Penalty by becoming a Volunteer HR Advisor.

Our Volunteer Advisors give around 1-2 hours a week of their time to the Advice Line. They use their HR knowledge to offer a kind, empathetic support and advice to help people to identify and challenge pregnancy and maternity discrimination in the workplace.

• Access to a reliable and secure WIFI connection. Public WIFI is not suitable for this role.

It’s vital for an older person’s wellbeing to have access to affordable leisure and recreational facilities. As a volunteer Receptionist, you will be a welcoming face within our Isabel Blackman Centre (IBC) Reception team. You will get a chance to meet new people and work with an excellent team of volunteers. It’s important to us that we provide a warm, affordable, and enjoyable place for our clients and visitors to learn something new, socialise, and keep fit.

The Isabel Blackman Centre (IBC) provides a restaurant, leisure facilities, activities and events space, treatment rooms, and a community shop within the heart of the Old Town, Hastings.

You will have a sociable attitude, be reliable and honest, empathic, a good listener, and have a love of meeting and greeting new people. You will be presenting a smart and professional image, whilst, ensuring all clients and visitors feel welcome and valued when they visit or contact the Isabel Blackman Centre (IBC).

You will also be multi-tasking by assisting with supporting telephone enquiries and getting involved with general administration. You will need to be willing to maintain a good working knowledge of services and facilities provided by the centre, and be comfortable with taking bookings and handling cash and credit card transactions. Mind in Kingston supports people with mental health issues and raises awareness within Kingston and surrounding areas. We provide training, supervision, and opportunities for career development.

The New Normal is a charity that runs free peer support groups for people navigating bereavement, facilitated by a dedicated team of volunteers across the UK.

Our volunteers dedicate their time and energy to supporting others through emotionally challenging times, and we want to make sure they feel equally held and supported in that work. We are looking for a qualified therapist to facilitate a monthly online group session for our volunteers: a safe, reflective space where they can process what comes up, let off steam, and when required be offered reflective feedback.

This is a facilitation role rather than a clinical one. You would be holding the space, normalising emotions, and offering a warm, containing presence, not providing individual therapy or carrying clinical responsibility for group members.

What we are looking for:

— A qualified or experienced therapist, ideally with a person-centred or integrative background

• Meet with our project lead to establish our needs, set realistic timeframes, and design an effective SEO approach for us
• Ensure effective traffic is directed to our new site, including managing connections to our old site where advisable
• Lead keyword optimisation as a result of our name and brand change
• Set up Google Analytics to help us gather robust, high-quality data from our new website
• Collaborate with our team, brand advisors, and existing IT support to ensure you have all the information and access you need
• Advise on Google Ad Grants services once SEO work has concluded - the role could extend if you're interested in developing this workstream
• Technical requirement: You'll need to be comfortable using Squarespace, as this is where our new website is hosted. We'll provide access and support.

Safeguarding Team Volunteer

AuDHD UK

Location: Remote (UK-based)

Reports to: Designated Safeguarding Lead

Commitment: Flexible, part-time (details negotiable)

Role: Unpaid volunteer position

Purpose: To safeguard vulnerable adults accessing our services and address any potential safeguarding referrals that we receive within and outside of the organisation. The Safeguarding Team Volunteer will contribute to the completion of risk assessments for beneficiaries wishing to access our services, and complete incident logs for escalation to DSL/Deputy DSL where required. 

This role requires an Enhanced Adult DBS - please only apply if you meet the requirements for a DBS check to be carried out (a 5 year UK address history with a maximum of 12 months abroad AND a biometric passport/ID card for an online ID check).  

Key Responsibilities

Safeguarding Case Management

• Act as a point of contact for safeguarding concerns within the charity and its beneficiaries.

• Respond to incidents and complete escalations where appropriate.

Risk Assessment & Policy Oversight

• Manage risk assessment case load, ensuring high standards of safeguarding is maintained.

• Be involved in the review and updating of AuDHD UK’s Safeguarding Framework and related policies.

Compliance & Governance

• Maintain accurate and confidential safeguarding records.

• Contribute to audits, reviews, and continuous improvement activities.

Training & Awareness

• Promote a culture of vigilance, accountability, and reflective practice.

Essential Skills & Attributes

• Recognised safeguarding training or substantial safeguarding experience.

• Adequate understanding of safeguarding considerations for AuDHD UK’s beneficiaries and best practice.

• Sound judgment, discretion, and empathy in complex situations.

• Clear written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond appropriately to sensitive cases.

• Commitment to AuDHD UK’s mission and values.

• Lived experience of AuDHD (desired).

Time Commitment Estimate

• Risk assessment/Incident log completion: ~3 hours a week (this may be increased at times of increased activity within the charity e.g. before the beginning of Peer Support Cohort assignments)

• Safeguarding audits, governance, and meetings: 2–4 hrs/quarter
