At Cats Protection we help thousands of cats and kittens each year thanks to our dedicated and passionate volunteer groups. We have branches across the UK, all of which help our cats in different ways. Branches take in stray and abandoned cats and ensure they receive the veterinary care and attention they deserve; help raise funds, promote neutering and help spread cat welfare messages. Our branch team leader volunteers lead their local team by supporting and managing volunteers within their group, maintaining communications with both volunteers and employees, and helping promote a positive and professional image of Cats Protection.

What we need from you
You’ll be:
- Supporting your team of volunteers in all aspects of their roles, making sure volunteers are happy and confident
- Making sure the team observes charity best practice and compliance
- Collaborating with your Branch Development Manager (BDM) to plan volunteer activity
- Leading the team to follow Cats Protection policies, procedures and guidelines
- Monitoring expenditure and helping ensure long term financial stability of the volunteer group
- Organising and chairing team meetings
- Actingas an ambassador for Cats Protection
Time expectation
Our branch team leader volunteers usually spend 10 to 15 hours per week in this role, which is flexible and can be shared by more than one volunteer if needed. There will be times of year when more hours are required, such as towards the end of the financial year, but support and guidance are available.

- Being part of a team that identifies suitable homes for cats in care
- Providing potential adopters with basic cat care information
- Completing homing questionnaires with potential adopters ‘virtually’, as well as face to face, which may involve visiting the homes of potential adopters

- Using online map searches to match cats and kittens to new homes

Introduction:
The Wensum Catchment Partnership (WCP) is seeking an inspiring and visionary chair with a genuine passion for the Wensum. Working with partners, they will bring the confidence, motivation and enthusiasm needed to help shape a shared strategic vision that leads to meaningful improvements in the catchment.
The River Wensum is a calcareous lowland river with SSSI and SAC designations that, despite protections, fails to meet its Water Framework Directive targets. Established in 2018, the WCP brings local people and organisations together to identify and deliver the interventions that help create a healthy, thriving catchment. The partnership has been recently restructured to ensure decisions are informed by data and evidence, with a strong focus on working with key partners to turn these into action on the ground.
Job Description:
WCP recognises the value of having an independent and proactive Chair to lead its quarterly catchment meetings and monthly Strategy and Management meetings.
The Chair of the WCP needs to be enthusiastic about unlocking the full potential of the restructured partnership, support the aims of the catchment and play a key role in bringing about positive changes in the catchment.
We believe this role will be ideal for someone who is working in, or has worked in, large or complex professional environments or academia but now wants to provide volunteer work that will benefit the environment and the community.
This is an unpaid volunteer role.
Key Responsibilities:
· Leadership and strategy: Helping to develop and define a strategic vision for recovery in the Wensum and enabling restoration action in the catchment.
· Meeting management: Liaising with the Wensum Catchment Officer to plan and organise meetings, setting agendas and facilitating constructive debate within meetings.
· Facilitation: Guide the members of the WCP to consensus and effective decisions, being considerate of diverse perspectives.
· Communication and representation: Represent the WCP at external partnership meetings and act as a public spokesperson for the organisation.
· Team building: Working in partnership and collaboration with members of the WCP.

Experience and skills
Essential:
· The ability to plan, facilitate and ensure orderly conduct of meetings, online and in person, to guide the WCP towards its strategic objectives.
· The ability to understand complex issues and analyse information to inform strategy.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including verbal/written skills and employing tact and diplomacy.
· The ability to build and maintain strong relationships with all partners and external stakeholders.

Desirable:

Fine Cell Work (FCW) is a UK-based rehabilitation charity and social enterprise. We are supported by an incredible team of prison volunteers who are the link between the charity and the stitchers we work with in prison. Our volunteers run fortnightly stitching groups in the prisons we work with to facilitate our stitchers’ production of high-quality needlework.
Our prison volunteers work in small teams to teach our stitchers’ embroidery and needlepoint, organise their group sessions, and liaise with the prison and FCW office.
What you will do as a prison volunteer:
- Teach women in prison how to stitch and support the completion of our premade kits in our cell groups, which consist of around 10-15 stitchers.
- Communicate with staff at our hub in Battersea to receive kits and supplies for your group and send back completed work for your stitchers to be paid.
- Encourage and help stitchers to complete our Open College Network certifications in creative needlework.
- Develop stitchers’ skills and confidence by encouraging them to take responsibility as peer mentors.
- Act as an ambassador for the charity and sharing our vision and values throughout your volunteering.
Who we are looking for:
- Skills in embroidery and/or needlepoint or a willingness to learn to stitch is essential for this role.
- Ideally some teaching experience or experience working with socially-excluded groups.
- Someone with a non-judgemental attitude and commitment to rehabilitation.
- Someone who is an excellent team worker.
- Someone who is good at observing personal boundaries.
Commitment: our stitching groups run for 2 hours every fortnight, so with travel time and some admin work after groups we ask prison volunteers to set aside a morning or afternoon every 2 weeks.

Relevant Person’s Representative (RPR) Volunteer
Some individuals have been deprived of their liberty following a decision about certain aspects of their care and living arrangements, such as being moved from independent accommodation into a care home, are in their best interest and necessary to keep them safe. These people are legally entitled to have support from an RPR. An RPR may be a family member, but if this is not an option then an VoiceAbility RPR volunteer can be appointed.
As an RPR Volunteer you might:
· Visiting clients to ensure they are getting the right care, support and being treated fairly
· Keeping detailed notes and records of interactions with clients and care facility staff
· Helping to ensure the client is receiving the best care, in line with their wishes
· Alerting the Team Leader to any concerns regarding the client or their treatment
· Building professional relationships with the Care Home Staff
· Recording activity on our case management system and writing reports
· Helping to make a difference to someone’s life
Hospital Visitor Volunteer
Hospital Visitor volunteers visit hospital settings to ensure that people detained under the Mental Health Act are aware that they have a legal right to an IMHA qualified advocate. The volunteers are instrumental in ensuring that clients get access to an advocate and can also support the work that advocates undertake.
· As a hospital volunteer, you might:
· Hold drop-in sessions
· Attend events and ward meetings at local facilities
· Share information
· Assist people to request advocacy support by completing a form online or calling our contact centre

Overview of the role
We are seeking three or four individuals to be active members, and maybe a future Vice-Chair, of our Board of Trustees, working collaboratively with other trustees, staff, volunteers, and stakeholders to help the Foodbank in pursuit of its Vision and Strategic Plan. The Trustee will also be expected to lead on certain areas and initiatives, as required by the charity, and which utilises the Trustees experience and skills.
Volunteering is a fantastic way for you to be involved in your local community and volunteers are at the heart of all that we do as a Foodbank. The role of volunteers who dedicate their time and skills to support people in crisis will continue to be critical as we work together to fulfil our vision of seeing a UK without the need for Foodbanks.
Key Tasks:
· ensure that Stratford Upon Avon Foodbank complies with and pursues its objects as defined in its governing document, charity and company law, and other relevant legislation or regulations
· ensure that the Foodbank applies its resources exclusively in pursuance of its objects
· give firm strategic direction to the Foodbank contributing to the Foodbank’s strategic plan, helping set policies, defining goals, setting targets, and evaluating performance against agreed targets
· appoint the Foodbank manager and monitor their performance
· safeguard the good name and ethos of the Foodbank
· ensure the effective and efficient administration of the Foodbank
· lead and/or serve on sub-committees and attendance at various other meetings, including with the charity’s staff, volunteers, and stakeholders.
· ensure an understanding of, and commitment to, the principles of equality, equity, diversity and inclusion
It is hoped that Trustees will also undertake additional work for the charity between meetings subject to their availability and skill set.

Hospital Visitor volunteers visit hospital settings to ensure that people detained under the Mental Health Act are aware that they have a legal right to an IMHA qualified advocate. The volunteers are instrumental in ensuring that clients get access to an advocate and can also support the work that advocates undertake.
As a hospital volunteer, you might:
- hold drop-in sessions
- attend events and ward meetings at local facilities
- share information
- assist people to request advocacy support by completing a form online or calling our contact centre
All volunteering will take place Monday to Friday between 09:00 and 17:00. You will need to be over 18 years old and be living in the UK. Please note that there is no opportunity to volunteer at weekends or in the evening.

- Fundraising Heroes - Whether it’s rallying local businesses, organising events, or getting creative with unique fundraising ideas, you’ll play a crucial role in keeping SSAFA’s support going strong.
- Administrators - Are you detail-oriented and love keeping things organised? Assist with branch and event administration, manage schedules and branch calendars, and ensure everything runs smoothly currently being undertaken.
The skills you need
- Be friendly and approachable.
- Confident to engage with the public, potential clients, volunteers and SSAFA colleagues face-to-face.
- Reliable attitude, staying connected with your Branch and/or Community Engagement Manager about your availability.
- Access to public transport or a car to get to events if necessary.
- Basic IT skills would be an advantage.

FareShare Greater Manchester is looking for safe, confident drivers to join our busy, friendly delivery team.
We re-distribute tonnes of surplus food a month to charities and community initiatives across Greater Manchester. This is an achievement of which we’re proud, and want to expand and is why we need your driving and delivery skills to support our growing operation, especially in these current times of increased need.
Key responsibilities
Driving a van to deliver surplus food orders to the premises of the various Community Food Members we support.
Loading and unloading the vehicle and carrying out a range of tasks, from basic vehicle checks to delivery administration.
As a Delivery Driver at FareShare, you will be driving a temperature-controlled 3.5 tonnes Mercedes Sprinter van; working closely with a Driver’s Assistant to re-distribute food orders to the premises of a wide variety of Community Food Members. You will be involved with loading the vehicle and carrying out a range of tasks, from basic vehicle checks to delivery administration.
The required skills and attributes are as follows. You must:
Be aged 25 or over, with a clean driver's licence (or a maximum of 3 points).
(Experience of driving a van is desirable though not essential).
Be reliable and be able to commit to pre-agreed volunteer shifts.
Be physically fit to take on moving and handling of food orders.
Possess the ability to follow procedures and instructions.
Have good verbal communication skills.
Have a high respect for Health & Safety standards and procedures.
Have an interest in the work of FareShare Greater Manchester and our values.

Our operating hours are Monday - Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
You must be resident in the UK and living in Greater Manchester, or within easy commuting distance of our base, in order to volunteer with us. There are no exceptions to this rule. This is because we require volunteers to be able to reliably commit to regular shifts for some of our roles. We are unable to offer sponsorship for overseas applicants.
