We are the Global Network of Civil Society Organisations for Disaster Reduction (GNDR), the largest global network of civil society organisations working to strengthen the resilience of people most at risk from disasters and climate change. With two trustees nearing the end of their terms, we are now recruiting two new trustees to join our Board at an exciting moment as we prepare to launch our 2026–2030 global strategy.

What we’re looking for
We are looking for individuals who can bring strategic insight, sound judgement, and a commitment to equity and localisation. While all trustees share collective responsibility for GNDR’s governance, we are specifically seeking two candidates with the following professional expertise to strengthen the Board’s capacity in these areas:
- Professional expertise in Finance (e.g., financial management, audit, budgeting, risk)
- Professional expertise in Human Resources (e.g., people & culture, organisational development, HR policy)

Trustees must be eligible under UK charity law to serve as charity trustees and company directors.
Terms of office
- Voluntary, unpaid role with all reasonable expenses reimbursed
- Three‑year term, renewable by Board agreement
- Approx. six days per year, plus preparation time, including quarterly board meetings, global board meetings, training, and occasional events

The International Youth Federation is an international non-profit youth organizations network governed by the present Statutes and the Swiss Civil Code. It is neutral politically and non-denominational, aiming to empower youth worldwide.
The core function of the IYF Executive Office (ExO) is to provide the support services needed to enable the IYF Senior Management Team (SMT) to perform their leadership roles effectively. The IYFEO tasked with the responsibility to provide policy and programmatic support to IYF's activities across HQ Bureaux and Regional Administrations.
The Office of the IYF Secretary-General (OSG) is an integral part of the Executive Office established to inspire and cultivate the next generation of innovative leaders. Under the guidance of the OSG Deputy Director, the Senior Communications Manager will be required to interpret programmatic priorities and complex material into clear, contextually relevant language that is accessible to targeted audiences and accurately reflects the position of the IYF. He/she will research, write and edit speeches, video messages, talking points, forewords, editorials and other materials to position the Secretary-General and the IYF as a global and trusted voice on youth development.

To voluntarily represent, positively promote, and uphold the mission of “Empowering youth for a better world” in various programs and opportunities throughout the IYF interventions across member countries.
Responsibilities
• Take the lead in strategy, planning, research and production of a wide range of communications materials, including speeches, lectures, statements, articles, op-eds, and other major written contributions.
• Develop and implement a communication work plan for the President/SG, aligned with the IYF Global Strategy and related communications plans, in order to maximize media coverage of the activities of IYF.
• Research and analyze information gathered from diverse sources, including in close coordination with the Department of Public Information, for use in written materials and communications products.
• Seek input and information from senior staff, review relevant material, project documents and reports with a view to drafting and editing speeches, statements and talking points while ensuring policy coherence and accuracy.
• Write opinion pieces and articles on behalf of the President/SG for high-profile media in order to maximize the impact of IYF activities by identifying and developing newsworthy ideas/topics and identifying possible high-profile media for placement.

Experience
Experience within an NGO, INGO (such as the United Nations), charity, government, non-profit, not-for-profit, international relations, international development (such as USAID) or youth empowerment or similar organization is advantageous but not essential.

Established in 2015, The Politics Project is a Community Interest Company (CN: 09413132) that supports young people across the UK to use their voice by providing them with outstanding democratic education.
We are a non-partisan organisation working with young people, teachers, youth practitioners and elected representatives to help young people learn about, experience and engage in democracy and politics in meaningful ways.
We currently employ 11 full-time members of staff and work in partnership with schools, youth organisations, civil society organisations, and democratic institutions across the UK.

Non-Executive Directors sit on The Politics Project Board and share collective responsibility for the governance, strategy and long-term sustainability of the organisation.
Key responsibilities include:
- Ensuring The Politics Project meets its legal and regulatory responsibilities and delivers its aims.
- Working with the Director to develop and realise the organisation’s vision, values and strategic direction.
- Supporting financial planning and oversight.
- Contributing to organisational policies and good governance.

The Role – Social Media Director (Team Lead)
Lead the organisation’s social media function to build an online community, drive engagement, connect with diverse audiences, and use social media metrics to strengthen organisational performance and improve efficiency.
Main Responsibilities / Key Duties

Membership Strategy & Structure
- Design and implement the CIC’s founding membership model, defining clear entry points, engagement pathways, and retention approaches rooted in participation rather than extraction.
- Shape intentional progression routes that support members to move from supporter → contributor → leader, ensuring growth in responsibility, agency, and influence over time.
- Align membership pathways with donor journeys, ambassador programmes, and volunteering routes, ensuring coherence across engagement, fundraising, and advocacy without conflating value with money.
Community Building
- Create a membership culture where people consistently feel seen, informed, included, and valued, regardless of role, status, or capacity.
- Establish sustainable rhythms of communication, updates, shared learning, and reflection that foster belonging, trust, and transparency.
- Enable decentralised participation by supporting member-led initiatives, peer leadership, and collective decision-making rather than top-down control.

Systems & Data
- Oversee the setup and ongoing use of membership systems (e.g. CiviCRM or equivalent), ensuring they serve people rather than manage them.

The Role
Volunteer Digital Marketing Director
Responsibilities:

Medact organises the health community to work towards a world in which everyone is able to live healthy, dignified lives, supported by political and economic systems that centre health justice. Our priority work areas are some of the most pressing threats to health and wellbeing, including ending state violence, housing & energy justice, and migrant access to healthcare. Medact seeks systemic solutions to major social problems, and is unafraid to hold decision-makers to account. We launched our new five-year strategy at the end of 2025, embedding our vision for how we win and how we grow.
We’re member-led, and our membership spans a range of people who work in health, including nurses, doctors, midwives and clinical researchers, as well as people from the wider health community.

About the role
Our Board of Trustees provides guidance, governance and final sign-off on major decisions on behalf of our membership. Trustees are collectively responsible for the governance of the organisation in line with the requirements of the Charity Commission. Trustees also contribute to the development of Medact's strategy and participate in a range of other activities to support the Director and staff with our work.
There are four planned board meetings per year, which are hybrid, and it is expected that each Trustee will attend most Board meetings. Trustees are also sometimes asked to give their views or sign off on issues between Board meetings if an issue cannot wait. It is hoped that each Trustee will have the capacity to use their unique skills to support the team more broadly with Medact’s work.
As Chair, you will support the Executive Director and staff to help build on our achievements and realise Medact’s vision. You will work with fellow Trustees to make up a strong and effective Board governing the Charity.
Acting as a Trustee is a voluntary role but reasonable travel expenses can be paid.
Who we are looking for
Our current Board brings a broad range of skills, but we recognise that we do not yet reflect the diversity of the health community. There are also specific types of experience and expertise we would like more of on the Board. In particular, we are looking for potential Trustees with one or more of the following attributes:

Lived experience of an issue that Medact campaigns on, for instance the Hostile Environment, the health impacts of economic or housing injustice, the health impacts of armed conflict or UK security policies

Experience as a frontline health worker of any sort, preferably current

Legal and safeguarding expertise

Fundraising expertise, particularly individual giving or major donor fundraising

Human resources expertise
As Chair, you will be actively networked within the health community or broader social justice movement and highly experienced in governance or strategic leadership of a charity or NGO. You will have the skills to line-manage the Executive Director. And you will have the ability to advocate on behalf of Medact’s work, as well as helping to build the membership and public image of the organisation.
