HSR UK is a small but ambitious charity dedicated to strengthening the role of health and social care research in policy and practice. We bring together researchers, service leaders, clinicians, policymakers, patient partners and others, helping research to drive real improvement in the NHS and social care.
We are now seeking three new Trustees to join our friendly and committed Board and help shape the next phase of our development.

HSR UK is the collective voice for health services and social care research in the UK.

- Connect and convene researchers, policymakers, managers, clinicians, and lived‑experience partners.
- Support the use of high‑quality research in practice and policy.
- Influence national agendas to help health and social care research thrive.
We have around 40 organisational members, run an annual conference attracting 350+ delegates, and lead work on mentoring, special interest groups, and major thematic projects such as equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) and workforce research. We are hosted by the Nuffield Trust but we are a separate organisation.

You do not need to be an academic or professional researcher. We welcome a wide range of expertise, including people newer to board roles.With the board meeting mainly online, we also welcome candidates from all over the UK.
We’re especially interested in candidates with skills or experience in:
- Business development or income generation (e.g., grants, commissioning, fundraising, third sector)
- Health or social care delivery, including clinical, managerial or lived‑experience backgrounds
- Public involvement, co‑production or inclusive research
- Finance or governance
You will also bring:
- An interest in how research can improve health and care
- Good listening skills and openness to diverse perspectives
- A willingness to constructively challenge and be challenged
- Enthusiasm for our aims and values, including a commitment to EDI
What the role involves
As a Trustee, you will contribute to:
- Setting and monitoring HSR UK’s strategic direction
- Ensuring strong governance and compliance
- Approving major decisions, policies, and annual accounts
- Considering and managing organisational risk
- Actively participating in board meetings and reading papers in advance
- Leading on a specific area of work (e.g., finance, conferences, events, governance), depending on your interests and skills
Practical details
Time commitment
- Around ½–1 day per month
- Five 90‑minute board meetings per year (online) plus our AGM in the autumn
- Option to join sub‑committees (1–2 meetings per year)
- Opportunity to help shape our annual conference and attend the conference in person

This is a voluntary role. We reimburse trustee out of pocket expenses, including travel to meetings and conference attendance

Mosaic Clubhouse is a unique, internationally renowned, mental health recovery community provider. We are right in the heart of Lambeth and wider south-east London, supporting the mental health system. We help over 400 Lambeth residents living with poor mental health each year through our work.

The Online Fundraising and Campaign Manager ensures that all digital campaigns—from social media drives to crowdfunding initiatives—are strategically designed, executed, and optimised for impact. You will lead online engagement, campaign planning, and donor acquisition strategies, connecting supporters to the CIC’s mission and converting attention into meaningful action. Experience Qualification and Requirements

- Experience using online fundraising platforms such as JustGiving, GoFundMe, Stripe, Patreon, or similar tools
- Experience in digital campaign planning, execution, and optimisation
- Strong understanding of social media marketing, including platform-specific strategies and analytics
- Experience with email marketing tools and CRM systems for supporter engagement and fundraising
- Ability to monitor, analyse, and interpret performance data to inform decisions
- Experience producing clear reports and insights for non-technical audiences and leadership
- Strong written communication skills, with an ability to craft compelling calls to action

- Develop innovative engagement strategies: Create and test creative campaign ideas, challenges, peer-to-peer fundraising initiatives, and digital engagement activities that motivate supporters to donate, share, and advocate. Continuously explore new trends and tools in online fundraising.

We are at an exciting point in our development. We have funding secured for the next 2–3 years, a growing staff team, and a strong national profile. This period of growth coincides with a pivotal moment for democratic education in the UK. As Votes at 16 is introduced, The Politics Project is playing a leading role in supporting schools, youth organisations, civil society and policymakers to ensure young people are equipped to participate meaningfully in democracy. We are seeking new Non-Executive Directors to help guide our strategic direction, strengthen our governance, and support our long-term impact.
About The Politics Project
Established in 2015, The Politics Project is a Community Interest Company (CN: 09413132) that supports young people across the UK to use their voice by providing them with outstanding democratic education.
We are a non-partisan organisation working with young people, teachers, youth practitioners and elected representatives to help young people learn about, experience and engage in democracy and politics in meaningful ways.
We currently employ 11 full-time members of staff and work in partnership with schools, youth organisations, civil society organisations, and democratic institutions across the UK.
Our work aims to:
- Support young people to meaningfully engage in politics by building their confidence, knowledge and skills.
- Train and support teachers, youth practitioners and professionals working with young people to deliver high-quality democratic education.
- Support politicians and decision makers to engage constructively with young people to co-create policy.
Youth voice is embedded in this work through our Youth Steering Group, which brings together young people from across the UK to shape and inform The Politics Project’s programmes and priorities.
Non-Executive Directors sit on The Politics Project Board and share collective responsibility for the governance, strategy and long-term sustainability of the organisation.
Key responsibilities include:
- Ensuring The Politics Project meets its legal and regulatory responsibilities and delivers its aims.
- Working with the Director to develop and realise the organisation’s vision, values and strategic direction.
- Supporting financial planning and oversight.
- Contributing to organisational policies and good governance.
- Providing strategic challenge, insight and support to the senior leadership team.
- Attending 3–4 Board meetings per year (with additional meetings if required). Meetings are primarily remote, with occasional in-person meetings.
- Acting as an ambassador for The Politics Project and advocating for its work.
Non-Executive Directors are registered as directors with Companies House and are appointed for a three-year term, renewable up to two times.
The role is unpaid, but reasonable expenses agreed in advance will be reimbursed. Time commitment is approximately one day per month.
In line with our safeguarding responsibilities, all Non-Executive Directors are required to undertake an enhanced DBS check.

To support people aged 18+ in the community by leading a series of guided walks around open spaces in Nottingham city (and Nottinghamshire).
Walk Leaders can make a difference by creating safe, enjoyable, and accessible walking opportunities that enhance health, wellbeing, and social connection.
What impact does this role have?
Provides accessible, guided health walks across Nottingham’s parks and open spaces. The walks encourage a healthy lifestyle by combining exercise with opportunities to socialise, helping people stay active, build friendships, and explore their local community.
What activities might you be involved in?
· Offering a friendly welcome to all walkers, especially those joining for the first time
· Providing a short briefing before the walk to ensure all participants are prepared
· Making sure the walk is safe and accessible for participants on the day of the walk
· Taking the lead in walks and ensuring they are safe, friendly and enjoyable and well managed
· Addressing and resolving issues that arise during walks, following guidance from your Line Manager, and promptly reporting any incidents or concerns to them.
· Providing information about other Age UK Notts services and other walks offered by the scheme, and basic information about how to keep active
· Ensuring all required paperwork is properly completed
· Attending occasional walk leaders’ meetings, one-to-one meetings and relevant training
What are we looking for?

While we are looking to expand, our current walks in the New Year will take place on Monday mornings at the Arboretum, Wednesday mornings at Highfields Park/Lakeside and Thursday mornings in Sneinton.
What training will you be given?
You will be given all the training you need to enable you to carry out your role. This will include a one-day Ramblers Wellbeing Walks, Walk Leader Course, risk assessment guidance and a thorough departmental induction to provide you with further information about your role.
