We’re looking for a creative and passionate Social Media Manager to grow our online presence, create engaging content, and support impactful campaigns across multiple platforms.

Requirements:
• Experience using Canva

Main purpose of role:

To take on the responsibilities of our direct social media output.

To support our communications and marketing work.

To help with creating content for our newsletters, social media, print media and other promotional material over time.

Main duties will include:

1. Create content to be attractive, informative and inclusive.

2. Post across Instagram, Blue Sky, Facebook, TikTok and LinkedIn to promote the organisation

3. Support designated team members to utilise social media to thank and engage our supporters, doners and funders.

4. Form key relationships with organisations and brands.

5. Create new ideas to make the best use of our social media to improve our engagement with the unpaid carers we support, and existing and potential volunteers.

6. Collaborating with other team members to contribute to and adhere to the wider communications strategy.

7. Maintain strict GDPR and confidentiality practices at all times.

8. Monitor and report on engagement rates of each post/platform to inform our messaging.

9. To carry out the above tasks in accordance with the policies and procedures of Carers Trust Hillingdon & Ealing. 

Person Specification

• A good understanding of the best practice for maximum social media engagement (i.e: best time of day to post, how to write comments and captions that will gain engagement) and a willingness to learn more about this.

• Strong communication skills

• Awareness of latest social media trends and etiquettes

• Enthusiastic, proactive and excited to take on their own project

• Creativity and Canva skills

About us:

We're seeking new trustees to join our team and contribute to the effective governance of our charity that delivers information, advice and wellbeing support for unpaid carers in two northwest London boroughs. Our Hillingdon team also offer a young carers service supporting children and young people, aged 5 to 25 years old, who live in Hillingdon and have a caring responsibility at home.

About the opportunity: 

As a trustee, you will have a positive opportunity to make an impact on the lives of unpaid carers in Hillingdon and Ealing! 

You will be essential in ensuring the effective governance of a charity whose mission is to offer support and guidance to anyone living with the challenges of being an unpaid carer.

About you:

We are delighted to now be covering the London borough of Ealing in addition to Hillingdon and our current focus is strengthening Carers Trust Hillingdon & Ealing's market position. We are particularly interested to talk to people with skills and experience in:

• Marketing and communications
• Information technology
• A good knowledge of the local Ealing area and/or statutory services there
• Finance / Accounting

You would need to be able to devote the necessary time and have strategic vision, independent judgement and an ability to think creatively.

Working hours:

Our governing body is made up of 7 trustees and meetings take place six times a year, typically on a Friday 10:00am to 12:00pm. The option to join meetings online is also available. We pay travel and out-of-pocket expenses and new trustees will receive a full induction. Trustees can also access a small training budget by agreement with the Finance Committee.

As a Graphic Designer, you will be instrumental in shaping the visual identity of Roots Academy Canada. From designing educational resources and social media assets to crafting digital campaigns and event materials, your work will ensure our content reflects ihsan (excellence), clarity, and spiritual depth. You will help bring Islamic learning to life through purposeful, polished, and impactful design.

Key tasks

• Design Development: Create visually compelling graphics for use across social media, email, web, presentations, and print

• Brand Consistency: Ensure all visual materials align with Roots Academy’s brand guidelines and Islamic values

• Content Support: Collaborate with the social media and education teams to translate ideas and scripts into polished, engaging visuals

• Campaign Assets: Support event and program launches by designing posters, promo kits, and other visual collateral

• Template Creation: Build easy-to-edit templates for internal teams to use (e.g., Canva or Google Slides)

• Revision & Feedback: Adapt designs based on team feedback while maintaining efficiency and quality

• Trend Awareness: Stay up to date on design and content trends, especially within the faith-based and youth development space

• Project Management: Maintain organized design files and deliver work in a timely manner

Why we want you

As a community engagement volunteer you and your fellow branch members will create a range of activities to help spread the word about SSAFA within your community to ensure that that our Armed Forces community know that SSAFA are here to help and that we need the public’s support to continue offering our services.

This role is diverse and allows for you to focus on the areas that you have skills or interests in. The role has flexibility and can work around your other commitments.

Below are some examples of possible activities you can take on or be a part of as a SSAFA Community Engagement Volunteer.

What you will be doing

• Activity Organisers - Love planning? Help coordinate amazing events like charity dinners, carol concerts, and local fairs.
• Event Champions - Be the friendly face of SSAFA! Help at events, chat with visitors, sell merchandise, and spread the word about our work.

• Promoting SSAFA Services - Help provide a warm, welcoming presence at Veterans Breakfast clubs, cafes or hubs - offering information about SSAFA services and signposting as appropriate.

• Community Connectors - Collaborating with the Community Engagement Manager to establish a local network, promote SSAFA's services, and respond to community opportunities such as gardening projects.
