Role summary
As a Volunteer Community Connector, you will play an important role in the Compassionate Communities programme by helping to normalise conversations around death and dying, grief and loss. We believe that breaking down these taboos and getting people talking is key in helping communities support each other.
Your role will involve:
• Supporting and facilitating ‘compassionate conversations’ about death and dying, grief and loss in the community - promoting social connectedness. This may include signposting to relevant community support or care provision.

Role summary
Community Bereavement Cafés are welcoming and open spaces for people to talk about their grief. Facilitators help run and facilitate the cafes.
A standard DBS check will be required for this role.
Main duties of this role may include any of the following:
· Help prepare the venue for the café set up – positioning chairs, preparing refreshments, making the seating welcoming and conducive to a positive experience.
· Welcome people as they arrive.
· Provide name labels to ensure people are known by name.
· Identify newcomers and assist them to settle in – making introductions and offering a helping hand to begin with. Being sure to withdraw yourself from the group when it feels right to allow peer support to take over and blossom.
· Offer and make drinks, clear cups etc.
· Facilitate a session in the Cafe after receiving bereavement training.
· Give notice before the café is due to end so that people can draw their conversations to a close.
· Occasionally, at the end, distribute feedback forms to participants to complete anonymously.
· When everyone has left, put the room back to how it was before the café started.
· Escalate any concerns or worries about attendees to the Cafe lead.
·Uphold strict confidentiality and maintain professional boundaries at all times.
Training & supervision
· Training provided in understanding grief and bereavement, communication and active listening skills, facilitating group spaces, safeguarding, boundaries, referral pathways, cafe operations and practical logistics.
· Monthly supervision/support.
· Ongoing training as required.

At Brent Foodbank, our warehouse volunteers play a vital role in ensuring our distribution centres can provide food parcels to people in our community who are struggling to afford the essentials. What you will be doing
Ensure that all Brent Foodbank warehousing procedures and processes are followed as per the foodbank operating manual. Receive food donations from members of the public and thank them. Ensure that incoming stock is checked, weighed and recorded. Sort food by date and type, removing any items that are damaged or outof-date and weighing these out separately. Keep warehouse area clean and tidy at all times. Prepare stock orders for the food bank centres and/or emergency food boxes, as appropriate. Assist in undertaking an annual stock take as detailed in the food bank operating manual. Report any health & safety or safeguarding concerns to the Foodbank and Warehouse Manager. Complete Brent Foodbank training modules.

Watford and Three Rivers Refugee Partnership operates in the borough of Watford and Three Rivers district, providing support to refugees and others without status in the UK. The partnership has a full-time caseworker and two part-time support staff in addition to around 80 volunteers. It currently serves around 350 families and individuals.
The charity provides:
· A weekly drop-in session – currently Tuesdays 11:00-13:30 – for existing and new clients to see us
· Casework supporting applications for leave to remain and related issues
· A weekly social hub – concurrent with the drop-in – for any client to join us for company and activities
· Education for our clients, mainly in the English language but including help with literacy and numeracy.
The operations manager will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the charity, reporting to the committee and trustees, ensuring the organisation runs efficiently and resources are used effectively to achieve its mission. They will provide a line management and mentoring role for the case worker and office administrator. The successful candidate would have had managerial experience, possibly in the charity, education, healthcare or related sectors. The role is a part time one – expected to average 2 days per week, and likely to suit someone retired from employment.
Specific roles for the operations manager are:
· Support of communication within the charity
· Supervision of the weekly (currently Tuesday, 11:00am-1:30pm) welcome desk, drop-in, social hub and casework operation
· Line management of our full-time caseworker and part-time office manager
· Support of elements of casework by allocating other volunteers, logistics etc.

Transport Support Volunteer
Watford and Three Refugees Partnership is a charity offering practical and emotional support to asylum seekers, migrants and refugees in Watford and Three Rivers. We are looking for a team of volunteers who have time to support our clients in the community.
Would you like to join a team within our charity that provides more practical support to our clients?
Some examples of support includes;
· Helping with house moves
· Collecting furniture that is being donated and drop off at client’s homes
