About the Organisation

SEED Madagascar is a British Charity working in partnership with communities in the southeast of Madagascar. We integrate high-quality community health, sustainable livelihoods; education infrastructure and conservation programmes to support long term, sustainable change and add to international best practice through research and publication across all of our programmatic areas. We are now looking for entry level interns wishing to gain experience to work alongside our team.

Position Overview

This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain experience working with an award-winning international charity on their website, marketing and digital platforms. Working closely with the Communications and Marketing team, your skills will be used to maintain and improve the website, track performance metrics over time, contribute to campaigns and fundraising, and publicise the charity's programmes to an international audience.

This position can be worked from home, has flexible hours and is estimated to require 2-3 hours per week.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Manage updates to website pages via a CMS (Content Management System)

• Publish blogs, press releases and other publications to the website

• Participate in SEED’s small online marketing and PPC meetings once a month

• Monitor and provide feedback on SEED’s website performance using Google Analytics

• Assist in the creation of media campaigns such as Christmas Appeals

• Improve website content for SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) rankings

• Work with the Media and Communications Officer to improve marketing and communications

• Work with the Programmes team to design an eye-catching and informative update to how our work is presented

• Proactively suggest and make improvements to keep the website looking fresh and engaging

Person Specification

• Experience of creating or updating a website using a CMS

• Experience using Concrete5, Wordpress or similar

• Experience of basic image editing and graphic design skills

• Previous experience of Google Analytics, HTML and CSS knowledge and/or an understanding of SEO basics would be desirable

• Critical eye for proofreading content according to organisational style and guidelines

• Be fluent in English to a high standard

• Be able to work to and advocate for all of SEED’s policies and procedures, safeguarding those that SEED works with and reporting any concerns appropriately

• Be punctual and be able to work to tight deadlines in an organised manner and to a high standard

• Have a flexible and patient attitude

• Have excellent problem-solving skills

• Be able to work both independently and as part of a team

Join the RCGP Scottish Patient Forum

The Royal College of General Practitioners Scotland is recruiting new members to the RCGP Scottish Patient Forum.

From feeding into policy consultations, to assisting with the development of College communications and campaigns, members of the RCGP Scottish Patient Forum play a key role in helping to shape the work of the College in Scotland.

This is a voluntary role for a term of up to three years. 

You do not need experience of being on a committee or advisory group.

What You’ll Do

· Take part in up to three online Forum meetings per year, offering your insights and lived experience.

· Provide feedback on RCGP Scotland policy papers, consultation responses and strategic documents.

· Act as a sounding board for press and communications activity to help ensure the patient perspective is reflected.

· Represent the Forum at relevant conferences, workshops, seminars or clinical groups (subject to your availability).

· Contribute to wider College activities where capacity and interest allow.

THE OPPORTUNITY

ORCD UK is the British entity of Afghanistan's most established local humanitarian organisation ORCD Global with $100M+ delivered, UN ECOSOC status (first Afghan NGO), and partnerships with UNICEF, WFP, WHO, and four other UN agencies. We are building our UK presence from scratch and need a talented writer to give us our voice.

This is a rare opportunity: the chance to write the complete communications infrastructure of a new charity,  website, fundraising appeals, donor emails, press releases and partnership outreach for real campaigns and impact.

THE ROLE

Ongoing work includes: monthly newsletter, fundraising appeal copy (Ramadan, Zakat, orphan sponsorship), donor email sequences, NGO partnership letters, and press releases. A full Communications Toolkit is prepared you will help improve and continue building.

Strong writer across multiple tones. Reliable and deadline-driven. Passionate about humanitarian work and Afghanistan. Experience in charity communications, journalism, or marketing is welcome but not required if you have the skills and the drive.

Writing and editing social media content, press releases, CWV guidelines, leaflets, speeches, newsletters and website content 

Utilising social media to maintain and manage the CWV image 

Representing CWV at events/presentations/meetings 

Owning and managing communications related to CWV’s online and offline presence 

Developing good working relationships with the media

This is a flexible role, with the opportunity to volunteer either virtually or in your local community. We are looking for volunteers able to offer a minimum commitment of 2 hours per month. 

We’re looking for people who are passionate about Sense’s work to support disabled people with complex needs and who have a calm, kind and friendly personality.

Please note that you will not be providing care for the people Sense supports as part of this role.

Due to the nature of the volunteer role, we cannot accept applications for anyone under the age of 18.

The four areas of the role:

As a Community Champion, you’ll have the opportunity to take part in a variety of activities, organised into four main role categories. • Self-motivated and proactive in seeking opportunities. 

Fundraising researcher:

Help boost Sense’s regional income by researching available grants, partnerships and other local connections. Responsibilities include:

• Researching local grants and business partnerships.
• Researching networking events.
• Helping us to source prizes for Sense fundraising events.

Skills needed:

• Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently.
• Organised, ensuring new leads are accurately recorded and shared. 

Community connector:

Act as an ambassador for Sense, attending events across your community to thank supporters, and forge new partnerships.

• Attending cheque presentations, thanking our supporters.
• Giving presentations about Sense to local schools and community groups.
• Engaging with local businesses and groups, to forge new relationships for Sense.

What we need from you

This is a highly flexible role, and you can choose how you’d like to get involved. Opportunities include:

• Face-to-face fundraising – organising or helping at fundraising events, running supermarket collections and fundraising stands, and monitoring collection tins
• Online fundraising – setting up online appeals and writing engaging cat case studies to maximise donations
• Marketing and promotion – spreading the word about fundraising activities via social media and local press
• Administration – processing donations, sorting and recording donated goods, and completing Gift Aid paperwork
• Championing our work – helping to develop new fundraising ideas and increasing community engagement
• Photography – capturing images of cats in care, cats we’re helping, fundraising events, and all things Cats Protection

Time commitment

This role is flexible and designed to fit around your other commitments. You’ll be part of a friendly team raising vital funds — and having fun along the way.
