Counselling Placement Opportunities

We offer enriching placement opportunities for trainee Counsellors and Play Therapists looking to develop their clinical skills in real-world settings.

Are you a big football fan who enjoys playing football as well as watching it?

We are looking for volunteer football enthusiasts to both play football and enjoy talking all things football with someone with learning disabilities and or autism.  As a volunteer you will need to be able to volunteer for a couple of hours each week.

What does the role involve?

Our football volunteers will enjoy spending time having a kick about, perhaps watching a game on TV and perhaps having a post-match discussion. Trips to watch the odd live game would also be an enjoyable experience for the people we support.

We specialise in supporting people who have learning disabilities, autism, complex needs, who may also have sight loss. Our support ranges from providing person-centred support across our many supported-living and residential care provisions. Our Waterside café offers a delicious selection of home-cooked food, tray bakes, light snacks, and hot or chilled beverages, served by our friendly team of staff and volunteers. We are looking for volunteers who can provide hands-on support to our café team, ensuring we offer excellent customer service to all our visitors.

Volunteers are an essential part of the WWT team, and we wouldn’t be able to maintain our internationally important wetland sites without their help. You will receive a very warm welcome, full induction & training, and be provided with the necessary equipment, uniform, and anything else needed to thrive in your role.

Main tasks

• Serving food, snacks, and drinks to visitors
• Assisting with café team with tidying, clearing, and cleaning tables
• Supporting behind-the-scenes with washing up, dishwasher loading, and sorting deliveries
• Engaging with café visitors and helping with any queries they may have
• Assisting with recycling and waste disposal
• Refilling food counters and displays to ensure they are replenished and look tempting
• Directing customers to available tables during busy periods

Additional notes 

• We are looking for volunteers to help out one day per week from 11am-3pm, particularly on weekends & during the school holidays
• This role is not suitable for people under 18 years.

At WWT, we believe that the best way for people to understand and connect to wetlands is to experience them, so we bring awe-inspiring nature up close and let it do the talking. Imagery is a central part of connecting our supporters to the work we do.

We are looking for an Image Library Volunteer to help us manage our thousands of engaging and inspiring images, capturing our events and activities, people, wildlife, and visitor experiences. These images are used in our promotional materials including website, press releases, staff & volunteer booklets, social media, and news articles. 

You will be selecting the most inspiring and engaging images, uploading them to our Image Library, tagging images to facilitate user searches, and regularly reviewing uploaded material. This is an important role in helping to keep our image database updated, on-brand, and easily accessible as a vital resource for staff across WWT.

Volunteers are an essential part of the WWT team, and we wouldn’t be able to maintain our internationally important wetland sites without their help. We are looking for volunteers to help with our social media. We want to massively improve and increase our content from TikTok to You Tube. So much goes into social media from the physical filming and scripts to making the small everyday promotional posts to bigger videos, editing and posting them. We need people to help with every aspect of social media  But don’t panic we are not asking one person to do all of this! So keep reading....

Choice International is a non-profit organisation promoting equality, diversity and inclusion in the UK and overseas. It researches, develops and implements development projects for disabled people and other disadvantaged people in the UK and overseas.

We are seeking a Fundraising Volunteer to support with writing funding proposals, completing funding applications to trusts and foundations as well as contacting corporates for sponsorship for events and one-off projects. You will work form our office based in East London to support with raising funds for our events and organisation in the long term.

Your Key responsibilities will include:

- Assisting with researching and approaching corporate entities, national and international, for event sponsorships, partnerships, Charity of the Year partnerships, and donations from corporate foundations

- Assisting with writing and delivering compelling presentations and proposals for funding to trusts, foundations and other institutes

- Writing emails and speaking with potential partners over the phone about the work of Choice with the aim of securing funds for the organisation.

You will have the following skills and experience:

- A good level of  written and oral communication

- Experience of writing funding proposals and working in fundraising would be an advantage

- Knowledge of corporate fundraising techniques including Charity of the Year, sponsorship, donations, marketing would be an advantage

- An ability to present and engage potential partners/sponsors in a compelling way

Working in a small team, you will be supporting Choice Directors, and will have responsibility for corporate, major donor and other fundraising. You will get involved with some of the largest grant funders in the UK, including the Big Lottery, Comic Relief, London Council and others.
