We’re looking for three new Trustees to provide strategic direction and keep our ambitious plans for a wilder future on track.

We want our Board to reflect our community and actively encourage applications from people of all identities and walks of life. We particularly invite applications from groups currently underrepresented within environmental charities including people from ethnic minority backgrounds and those with disabilities. 

In return for your input, we’ll give you fascinating insights into nature and charity operations, lively and respectful debate and field visits with expert staff.

About you

You don’t need to be an expert on wildlife. We only ask that you care deeply about it.

Nor do you need to have had a long career. We only ask that you’re over 18.

And you don’t need to be a member of the Wildlife Trust to apply, although we will ask you to join if you’re appointed.

Time commitment

You’ll attend up to eight evening meetings per year – 6pm to 8pm. One meeting is in-person at our offices in Cambourne; the others are hybrid. You’ll need to read papers in advance and come ready to contribute to the discussion.

We have an annual strategy away day in the working week and we encourage Trustees to attend our AGM and Members’ Day on a Saturday.

Trustees are appointed for an initial three-year term. 

A growing women’s empowerment social enterprise in Uganda is seeking a volunteer accountant to strengthen budgeting, cashflow forecasting and financial systems.

The organisation supports over 300 women artisans, including single mothers, widows and teenage mothers, through vocational training and income generating opportunities linked to handmade crafts.

As international sales opportunities grow, the organisation wants to ensure its finance processes remain practical, sustainable and fit for purpose.

The volunteer will work with the Founder and Managing Director to review internal processes and controls, support effective use of Zoho Books, review the chart of accounts, improve budgeting and cashflow forecasting, develop simple management reporting tools and support audit preparation.

This would suit a hands on volunteer comfortable working closely with a small local team.

VOLUNTEER CASE OFFICER

Across the UK, our 60+ local branches work with disabled people to help them live the lives they choose. Our network of skilled volunteers respond to thousands of requests each year to design and make customised equipment free of charge.

Our Case Officers are a vital part of our local branch activities. They use their organisational and IT skills, sometimes along with a knowledge of engineering, to make sure their branch is best able to support people.

What the role involves

This is a varied role that each branch tends to do a bit differently, but it will involve:

• Processing and allocating cases which have come to the branch

• You may have engineering experience or be a skilled craftsperson, but this is not essential

• Using our online referral portal to manage and update case notes

• Attending regular meetings of the local branch

We can support you to develop the skills you need for this role, and there’s an induction that covers all the areas above. You’ll also have chance to discuss your role and any additional needs with us.

• Warm, approachable and confident to call referrers/clients to initiate discussions

Community Liaison Officer

Challenge Adventure Group (“CAG” for short and the operating name of CAG Trust) is a voluntary youth organisation for Knowle, Dorridge and beyond aimed at boys aged 10 and above.

As our name suggests, we provide challenging, adventurous and fun activities and the D of E Award for young people in their leisure time. Taking part in fun experiential activities enables members to develop their physical and mental skills and capacities and reach their full potential of becoming positive, active and happy citizens.

Summary

CAG was formed in 2009 and became a charity, CAG Trust, in 2019. We are looking for an individual who embodies the spirit of CAG and continually keeps the integrity and goals of the organisation at the forefront of every decision that they make as part of their role.  To ensure we meet our goal of improving the well-being of young people and being a part of our local community we need to increase our reach. We’re looking for a volunteer Community Ambassador to play a vital role in helping us reach new audiences, form new partnerships and maintain current arrangements, raise awareness and generate income.

You will seek out opportunities to speak to and build relationships with community groups, organisations and businesses, raising awareness of our work and encouraging action through giving, campaigning and volunteering.

In addition to public speaking opportunities, you may attend events on our behalf, such as business networking meetings, fundraising events, community fetes, galas and more.

Who we are

Children with Voices started over 20 years ago with one woman, a community hall and a belief that no child in Hackney should be forgotten. Our founder Michelle began with a Winter Wonderland for local children at London Fields School, covered by the Hackney Gazette, after being named Family Mosaic Inspirational Tenant of the Year. She has not stopped since.

Today we are a registered charity at Fawcett Estate Community Hall in Clapton, running a Community Food Hub, Jumping Beans, SEND support, alternative education and work in local schools. Over 100,000 children and families have come through our doors. Our work has been featured on BBC, ITV and Channel 4, and we have been recognised with a Pride of Britain Award and a Points of Light Award. What we are proudest of is that families still knock on our door knowing someone will answer.

Inclusive Boards is delighted to support Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice Care in their search for a Trustee.

Phyllis Tuckwell is an independent Hospice Charity based in Farnham, Surrey. They offer specialist palliative care in a compassionate and friendly environment. They aim to provide equitable supportive and end of life care to those with an advanced or terminal illness and to their families.

Their services help around 2,000 people each year and include a newly built hospice which can accommodate 18 in-patients, a living well centre, outpatient appointments, and a community service, including our Hospice Care at Home team.

About the Trustee opportunity

Phyllis Tuckwell  is currently seeking to appoint a Trustee who is an experienced qualified accountant and business professional and has:

• a clear understanding of our mission to put the patients and their families at the centre of any decisions made;
• compassion with a respect to the nature of Palliative care;
• knowledge of the Charities Statement of Recommenced Practice (SORP);
• strategic finance experience, business acumen, and the ability to communicate complex financial information effectively to trustees from a range of professional backgrounds;
• a desire to work collaboratively with fellow Trustees and volunteers;
• strategic thinking for the charity’s long-term aims;
• integrity so that decisions made by the Board are in the best interest of the Charity;
• good governance to ensure we comply with our legal and ethical goals and; 
• the time and commitment needed to join our high-performing Board.

They would especially welcome interest from individuals who have personal experience of caring for a loved one, as this perspective would bring additional value and understanding to the role.

The Board usually meets 4 times each year. In addition to which Trustees are expected to attend the annual Strategy Away Day with the Senior Management Team and sit on at least one of the quarterly sub committees, many of which can be held via Teams. What we need from you

• help set up and/or man stalls at events
• help on collection days like supermarket collections events or street collections
• help at fundraising events such as quiz nights, cake sales and dances
• promoting a professional image of Cats Protection at events

Time expectation

This role is really flexible! You could choose to volunteer at one event for a couple of hours or attend multiple fundraising events.

We’ll keep you up to date with upcoming local events where volunteers are needed. You’ll then be able to choose which events you’d like to volunteer at and how many hours you’d like to give. However much time you can give, your contribution will help raise much needed funds to continue the work of Cats Protection.
