Our vision is to help build communities that save lives and serve each other through volunteering for health and first aid.
Young people play a crucial role in helping us realise this mission. As a volunteer with our youth teams, you’ll be trained to provide our young people with both life skills and lifesaving skills – all while having great fun!
You’ll be working with our brilliant Badgers (aged 7-10) or creative Cadets (aged 11-18). You’ll also have the opportunity to design your own role, whether that involves running fun activities – such as outdoor events, summer camps and mountain adventures – or providing ‘behind-the-scenes’ support.
We’ll offer you the chance to become a fully-fledged Youth Leader, which will mean completing extra courses in First Aid or Adventure to broaden your capacity and experience.
Would you like to volunteer once a week or once a month? That’s entirely up to you. With the constant guidance of a friendly volunteer manager and youth team, you’ll have all the support you need to make bold strides and rediscover your inner ‘big kid’.

Over the past decade, The Daily Mile Foundation (TDMF) has grown into one of the most successful school-based physical activity initiatives for children globally, helping millions of young people experience the transformational benefits of moving more every day. We are entering an exciting new chapter following the recent decision for TDMF to become part of the London Marathon Foundation – one that brings together two charities with a shared commitment to improving children’s health and wellbeing across the UK and beyond.
As part of the new structure, TDMF will operate as an independent charity within the London Marathon Foundation, with its own dedicated Board of Trustees providing strategic leadership, oversight and support. Working closely with the London Marathon Foundation’s Board, TDMF Trustees will help shape the next phase of the charity’s growth, ensuring The Daily Mile continues to thrive in schools and communities, reaches even more children, and contributes to the wider group strategy and shared mission.
TDMF’s work is rooted in a simple but powerful idea: daily physical activity can change children’s lives. The programme is now delivered in thousands of schools, supported by teachers, local authorities, health partners and national bodies. As we expand our reach and impact, Trustees will play a vital role in safeguarding the integrity of The Daily Mile, strengthening partnerships, building capacity, and ensuring our work continues to benefit the children and communities who need it most.
With the London Marathon Foundation’s long-standing experience in grant making and community impact and TDMF’s proven model for inspiring activity in schools – this new structure creates a unique opportunity to accelerate change. Trustees will help guide how TDMF evolves within the London Marathon Foundation and aligns with its mission, while championing the distinct identity, values and ambitions of The Daily Mile.

Trustees should be able to commit around 8 days per year, comprised of half day board meetings, ideally attend in person at our offices near London Bridge, preparation for board meetings, and optional attendance at events that are delivered by TDMF and London Marathon Events, including the TCS Mini London Marathon.
If you are interested in making a difference to inspire activity and can contribute strategically on a wide range of issues and demonstrate empathy with the aims and objectives of TDMF and London Marathon Foundation, please see further information via our websites:

This is an exciting and strategic moment to join the Board of The Leprosy Mission Shop (TLMS). We are fortunate to have a dedicated and experienced group of Directors, but with members nearing the end of their tenures, we are looking to appoint two new Directors during 2026.
The Leprosy Mission is the world’s largest leprosy-focused organisation, a pioneer in our field, with over 152 years’ experience tackling this ancient disease. As a leading international Christian development organisation, we operate as a Global Fellowship comprising members from 27 countries. We work with people of all faiths and none to bring about the defeat of leprosy and transformation in the lives of people affected. We raise funds, promote research and innovation, and support our partners to strengthen health systems, provide life changing health care services, skills training and opportunities for those who have been excluded and rejected by society.
As an organisation we are seeking transformational growth. Our goal is to see a leprosy-free world. Our vision is for ‘leprosy defeated, lives transformed’, meaning a world with zero transmission, zero disability and zero discrimination.
The Leprosy Mission Shop UK exists to transform the lives of people affected by leprosy by raising vital funds and awareness through ethical retail. Directors play a vital role in leading the organisation and supporting a values-driven team that uses commerce as a tool for positive change, ensuring that every purchase contributes to lasting impact.
You will provide strategic oversight, constructive challenge, and guidance to support the effective governance and long-term sustainability of The Leprosy Mission Shop UK. You will have a good understanding of finance with the ability to interpret budgets, management accounts, and performance reports.
Experience in one or more of these areas is desirable:
We seek candidates who have time availability to attend a mix of on-site (Peterborough) and online Board meetings (total of four meetings per year) and undertake some work from home for preparation, review of papers, and virtual discussions.
The Leprosy Mission Shop has a zero-tolerance policy towards any abuse, neglect and exploitation of all people. Successful candidates are expected to understand, sign and comply with all organisational policies, including our code of conduct and safeguarding policies. Recruitment to roles within The Leprosy Mission Shop includes, in particular, criminal record checks/screening and the collection of relevant references.
As an explicitly Christian charity, The Leprosy Mission Shop is seeking candidates who are committed Christians, willing to uphold and contribute to the organisation’s Christian ethos. This includes engaging in and at times leading prayer within the organisation, demonstrating alignment with our values, and showing active involvement in their Christian community. We welcome and encourage applications from people of all backgrounds. We do not discriminate on the basis of disability, race, colour, ethnicity, gender, religion*, sexual orientation, age, veteran status, or other category protected by law. *In accordance with the equality act 2010 it is a genuine occupational requirement that the post holder is a practising Christian.
