At St John Ambulance, we are looking to develop our volunteering offer and become an even more integral part of our communities through delivering community first aid and education. 

We need people who have a passion for helping others, care about their communities and want to make a difference. Through volunteering as an Emergency Responder, you’ll get a huge sense of satisfaction and pride delivering essential first aid and lifesaving clinical care at community and major events in your areas, including at sporting events, concerts, community festivals.

We will make sure you will have access to a proper induction to volunteering with SJA and the training you need for the role you take on. We will also provide you with a supportive environment while you are volunteering with us. Information about our volunteer roles are included in the role descriptions. What you can expect from SJA, and what we expect from those who volunteer with us, is included in the volunteer charter.

Volunteers must attend monthly team meetings and be expected to support medium and large scale events across Cornwall. Full clean driving licence is preferred. Applicants should be educated to Maths and English GCSE or equivalent standard and able to use Microsoft Office applications.

We are seeking an experienced professional to volunteer as a Contract & Compliance Advisor. This role is ideal for someone with significant experience in law, compliance, procurement, or contract negotiation, who would like to use their expertise to support a values-led charity.

Key Responsibilities

• Review contracts, agreements, and supplier documentation
• Identify potential risks, liabilities, and areas requiring clarification
• Highlight key terms, conditions, and small print in clear, accessible language
• Provide guidance on compliance, procurement, and contractual best practice
• Support staff to understand contractual implications (non-legal advice)
• Offer input on negotiation points where appropriate

About You

We are seeking a committed and compassionate Lay volunteer to serve as Deputy Chair of the Ministerial Candidates and Probationers Oversight Committee (MCPOC). This role supports the Chair in providing oversight of candidates, student ministers, and probationers, ensuring process are fair, consistent, and pastorally sensitive and that decisions are made in accordance with the Standing Orders of the Methodist Church.

The Deputy Chair will act on behalf of the Chair when required and contribute to the leadership, discernment, and development of the Committee’s work.

As the Deputy Chair of the MCPOC you will need a blend of experience, skills, and personal qualities, including:

• Some experience of chairing meetings or facilitating group discussion.
• Confidence in reading reports and contributing to fair, thoughtful discernment.
• Organised, reliable, and able to handle preparation, follow‑up, and occasional time‑sensitive work.
• A committed Christian whose life reflects the values and ethos of the Methodist Church, and who is respectful, fair‑minded, and supportive of others’ flourishing.

• Knowledge of Methodist governance or ministerial formation (desirable).

I am looking for a volunteer to help promote my book Childhood Unlimited: Parenting Beyond Gender Bias as it moves toward self-publishing and launch. (It used to be traditionally published but I have asked for my rights back so I can give it a better chance in the market)

The role will support marketing strategy, book visibility, audience growth, and promotional activity around the book’s themes of gender stereotypes, inclusive parenting, and practical social change.

This is a good opportunity for someone with experience or interest in book marketing, social media, launch campaigns, audience engagement, or feminist and educational content. The book already has a clear message and strong foundations, great testimonials and potential so the focus is on helping it reach the right readers and building awareness around the project, in a time that is more needed than ever.

Main tasks

• Help create and follow a simple marketing plan for the book.
• Support social media promotion and content ideas.
• Help identify relevant audiences, communities, podcasts, newsletters, and partners.
• Suggest launch ideas, outreach messages, and promotional opportunities.
• Assist with positioning the book clearly for readers interested in parenting, feminism, and gender equality.

Our collection box fundraising volunteers help our volunteer groups raise vital funds by collecting and distributing collection boxes in their local area. Making a difference can mean as little as raising 20p, which is enough to feed one cat in our care for a day, to £150 which is the average cost of a cat in our care.

In order to volunteer for knus as an ambassador, you will need to complete a brief application form and a ID check. About The Stray Cat Charity (TSCC)

The Stray Cat Charity is a newly established UK-registered CIO working to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome stray cats in Greece, starting in Patras. Our current priority campaign is to raise £35,000 to build a dedicated stray cat shelter in Patras, Greece, which will provide safe housing, veterinary care, and a pathway to adoption for vulnerable cats. As a growing new charity, we are building our fundraising and outreach network across the UK.

This includes community groups, schools, corporates, and potential major donors who may be interested in supporting or fundraising for stray cats in Greece. The aim of this role is to help generate awareness, build relationships, and support fundraising activity for our current and future campaigns.

Key Responsibilities

The volunteer may support with:

• Researching local community groups, schools, faith groups, and businesses
• Identifying potential corporate partners and supporters in their region
• Contacting organisations to introduce The Stray Cat Charity and its mission
• Encouraging groups to support the charity through donations or fundraising
• Promoting our current campaign to raise £35,000 for a stray cat shelter in Patras, Greece
• Supporting or initiating community fundraising activities where appropriate (e.g. sponsored events, school fundraisers, awareness campaigns)
• Helping to raise awareness of stray cat welfare issues in Greece through local outreach

Fundraising Options

Volunteers may either:

• Focus on outreach and relationship-building, or
• Actively support or lead local fundraising efforts for the charity’s campaigns

We are looking for someone who is:

• Confident communicating with people and organisations
• Passionate about animal welfare
• Self-motivated and able to work independently
• Comfortable researching and reaching out to potential supporters
• Interested in community engagement or fundraising

The Stray Cat Charity is a new organisation, meaning volunteers will play a key role in shaping our growth, impact, and fundraising success from the ground up.

What You'll Be Doing

No two events are the same! You could be:

• Welcoming visitors and helping create a friendly, inclusive atmosphere.
• Supporting disabled people and their families to take part in activities with confidence.
• Getting involved in arts, crafts, games, and creative activities.
• Helping set up and pack down event spaces.
• Running activity stalls, information stands, or family-friendly games.
• Sharing information about Sense and the support we provide.
• Assisting with fundraising activities at community events.
• Working alongside staff and fellow volunteers to ensure events run smoothly.

We'll regularly share upcoming volunteering opportunities with you, and you can choose the events that match your interests, location, and availability.

Who We're Looking For

You don't need previous experience—just enthusiasm and a willingness to get involved.

This role is ideal for students and community-minded individuals who are:

• Friendly, approachable, and confident engaging with people from all backgrounds.
• Passionate about making a positive impact.
• Reliable and committed to events they sign up for.
• Comfortable working as part of a team.
• Flexible and happy to support with a variety of activities.

Due to the nature of the role, we require all applicants to be aged 16 or over. You must have a UK address to volunteer with Sense.
