We’re delighted to be recruiting for a Finance Trustee to join our vibrant and innovative board of Trustees. You'll be providing oversight of the financial processes, management and reporting of the charity’s finances in line with best practice and regulations and working closely with our Executive Team and with all of our Trustees. You will be contributing to the ongoing strategy of the charity, in line with our charitable objectives.
We’re looking for an experienced financial professional to join our Board of Trustees, with a focus on oversight of our financial processes, reporting and management. All Trustees have responsibility for our financial position, and the person taking on this role will provide advice and guidance to the Board of Trustees and Executive Team on financial management. You’ll also be a vital part of the Trustee Board sharing ideas and insight on all matters relating to our charity and participating in the development and delivery of our strategy as we seek to ensure that people seeking sanctuary in the UK do not face homelessness.

The European Network on Statelessness (ENS) is a civil society alliance of organisations and individuals working to promote the right to a nationality in Europe. Our network brings together over 180 members in more than 40 countries. Since establishing in 2012, we have been dedicated to raising awareness about statelessness and the right to a nationality, supporting legal and policy development, and building civil society’s capacity to act. Our secretariat team of 9 is based in the UK, our Board of Trustees includes individuals based in the UK and across Europe.
We are a fully digital and paperless team, using MS365 and a CRM. We have developed and maintain innovative digital tools like the Statelessness Index (which analyses and compares how European countries are protecting stateless people and taking steps to end statelessness) and the Statelessness Caselaw Database (the first database containing case law related to statelessness in Europe, a vital tool for legal practitioners). Now we're looking forward to harnessing technology like AI and more, to continue to innovate in our work to end statelessness and protect people without a nationality.

About the role
The Governing Board of Oldham College is made up of a group of 15 dedicated and committed strategic leaders who have gained their experience through a broad range of settings and sectors, including further and higher education, the NHS, local charities, local businesses and globally recognised companies.
As Chair Designate, you will play a pivotal leadership role in shaping the strategic direction, governance and reputation of our College. You will ensure that our Board functions as an effective, cohesive and forward-thinking body that upholds the highest standards of corporate governance. You will inspire confidence and collaboration across the Board, the senior executive team and key external partners, ensuring that every decision aligns with the College’s mission to serve students, employers and the wider community. A key aspect of the role is to develop the Board itself—building a diverse, skilled and engaged team of governors.
Working collaboratively with the Principal & CEO and our other senior leaders, you will achieve the College’s objectives to maintain accountability for performance, financial sustainability and safeguarding.
