In this Senior Technical Lead - Entrepreneurship role, you will use your deep expertise in innovative finance and enterprise development to lead and support the delivery of enterprise development programmes, both existing and upcoming, across various countries.

You will help shape SCUK's commercial strategies by providing strategic and commercial insights, guide existing initiatives, and sharing through best practice.

You will be instrumental to achieve the Innovation Hive's system change goals for entrepreneurship as a means to delivering impact, influencing not just the Save the Children movement, but also the broader NGO sector and beyond.

The Innovation Hive are a team focussed on achieving transformative, systemic, change for children, for our organisation, for our sector and beyond. To do this we run a corporate venturing function at SCUK backing innovation projects that will help us maximise the impact potential of existing and new resources, and increase funding directed towards Save the Children's mission. Our purpose is clear: to transform, build and champion new growth opportunities and business models, moving at pace and collaborating inside and outside of or organisation to do this.

Key Accountabilities include:
Technical

• Use deep technical expertise and proven experience on innovative finance and delivering enterprise development programmes to lead on the delivery and/or support of existing (eg. 3 Ukraine, Kumwe Hub) and upcoming (eg Turkey, Nigeria, Ethiopia) Enterprise Development programmes to exit point.
• Use proven commercial experience to support the development and delivery of the strategy to explore SCUK's commercial opportunities such as shared value partnerships.
• Provide guidance and advice on existing SCUK commercial initiatives.
• Work on the development of a “best-practice” advisory service for SCUK to support Enterprise Development programmes for local contexts.
• Working collaboratively across SCUK, Save the Children International, LIFT Lab, Save the Children Global Ventures, Kumwe Hub and Country Offices and others to design and support the implementation of those projects.
• Lead all aspects of an end-to-end opportunity, including origination, due diligence, design, committee approval, go-to-market strategy and oversight of delivery.
• Contribute commercial acumen to project design, delivery and evaluation.
• Provide strategic and analytical insight through the generation of accurate and compelling reports and presentations, including for internal and external stakeholders.

Thought Leadership

• Achieve the Innovation Hive's system change goals for entrepreneurship, influencing not just the Save the Children movement, but also the broader NGO sector and beyond.
• Influence and engage senior leaders with gravitas to build high-level buy-in for and understanding of your work.
• Be an active leader in relevant community of practices (or creating those that not yet exist) that bring together stakeholders, including donors, investors, and beneficiaries, to drive the adoption of enterprise development and innovative finance mechanisms.
• Lead and build essential partnerships with organisations and industry experts to ensure the delivery of strategic projects. Including specifically in the impact finance and social enterprise space, confidently representing Save the Children at key external events and building our presence.

Learning and Organisational Development

• Responsible for bringing best practice into Save the Children – and embedding your technical knowledge and learning across the organisation, specifically regarding innovative finance and enterprise development, to build organisational capacity.
• Draft and preparation of proposals, pitch decks, and associated materials to engage diverse client groups (e.g. the Innovation Hive's Investment Committee and relevant board steering committees) to ensure the Hive's activities are communicated highly effectively and strategically. 

About You
To be successful, it is important that you have the following skills and experience:

• Knowledge and proven multi-year experience on the strategic implementation and operationalization of Enterprise Development programmes.
• In-depth knowledge of current best practices in enterprise development and innovative finance, combined with established connections with industry experts and relevant networks, enabling the leveraging of these relationships for strategic advantage and collaborative opportunities.
• Demonstrated commercial expertise with a strong ability to guide and enhance commercial initiatives, leveraging a comprehensive understanding of market trends and business strategies to maximize impact and sustainability.
• Experience in senior leadership roles within a development, management consulting environment or equivalent.
• Significant experience with impact measurement, and management frameworks.
• An excellent stakeholder manager with demonstrated networking and influencing skills at all levels.
• Ability to adapt financial mechanisms to humanitarian and/or development contexts.
• Proven track record of project delivery.
• Creative and strategic in problem-solving, effectively involving multiple stakeholders with empathy and open-mindedness.

Ways of Working:
The majority of our roles can be performed remotely in the UK, but there are likely to be times when you will be required to come to your contracted office (up to 2-4 days per month or 6-8 days per quarter).  This will be agreed with your Line Manager and team and is intended to be time spent on collaborating with colleagues and relationship building.

Education should be the means to break the link between demographics and destiny. Yet every week 109 children in England – equivalent to three full classrooms – are asked to leave their schools and never come back, with disastrous personal and societal consequences. The Difference, a young education charity, was founded to change the story on this lost learning. It exists to build the status and expertise of teachers working with vulnerable children, particularly those who are excluded from mainstream schools.

By 2030, The Difference want rates of exclusion and absence to be falling nationally and for schools to be better equipped to support all children, including those who may be vulnerable.

The organisation was born out of a year of research into school exclusions with think-tank IPPR. This research identified a lack of inclusion expertise in schools and proposed a new leadership development programme to fill this gap. In 2018, The Difference founder Kiran hired the team who took this idea from concept to reality, beginning work with our first schools.

The Difference is now a 22-strong team delivering multiple school leadership programmes, alongside a growing research and policy arm. The team is supported by our Youth Advisory Board, made up of young people who have experienced exclusion and who provide their expertise and insights on how school inclusion work should be done. This work is needed more than ever. Effects of COVID-19, coupled with the spiralling cost of living, have substantially increased levels of vulnerability. Schools serving excluded pupils face under-funding. The Difference has had excellent early impact but there is work ahead to capture this, share learning with schools and policy-makers, and grow our capacity to lower exclusions across England.

Our first permanent Head of Fundraising will drive the growth and sustainability of our fundraising function. Having proved the impact on exclusions via our programmes, you will help us generate the income to scale this success across the country. We need an expert fundraiser to support this journey. Key Responsibilities

• Drive the delivery of a new fundraising strategy for The Difference, motivating and involving key members of the team, particularly the Development and Impact Manager.
• Build and manage a dynamic portfolio of around 20-30 major individual prospects and donors with capacity to give £50k+, working with key stakeholders to solicit and close asks.
• Grow overall fundraised income from £1.25m to £1.9m annually in next 3 years.
• Write and submit funding proposals to major donors, trusts and foundations, and corporate supporters.
• Support the creation of engaging content from our impact data and case studies, for The Difference’s website and social media that could lead to online fundraising, including feeding into writing press releases as required.
• Build relationships with major trusts/foundations, donors or companies to secure 5 and 6 figure income
• Plan and deliver fundraising outreach to build out our list of fundraising pipeline.

Aid to the Church in Need is a Catholic charity, supporting persecuted and suffering Christians around the world.

Working alongside the existing Community Fundraiser in London, this role will engage with the Dioceses in Westminster, Brentford & East Anglia to establish and strengthen links to individual bishops and diocesan communications staff. Women and Girls Network (WGN) was established in 1987 and has spent over 30 years supporting women and girls across London affected by gendered violence. This includes childhood sexual abuse, domestic violence, rape, prostitution (including trafficking and sexual exploitation), female genital mutilation (FGM), and so-called 'honour' based crimes such as forced marriage.

About the role

We are now looking for an experienced and innovative individual to support the engagement and outreach of our Young Women’s Service.

The successful candidate will be experienced in developing and delivering creative Gender Based Violence (GBV) prevention programs and confident to successfully engage young women in a wide range of settings including schools, colleges, youth programs & pupil referral units to raise awareness, challenge and positively influence the attitudes and behaviours that normalise GBV in this peer group. You will receive training on delivering GBV Resilience Programs that build psychological and emotional resilience in young people (YP) to strengthen protective factors to promote positive mental and emotional well-being in YP. You will co-produce and deliver training and awareness raising work for professionals, including first responders and managers in GBV related services / mental health provisions, educational centres and non-abusing family members and carers to facilitate appropriate response towards YP at risk. 

About you

You will therefore be skilled in nurturing and developing YP voices and active engagement within such forums. You will be skilled at working alongside young women with an acute awareness of how to successfully co-create and co-deliver training packages to professionals and the wider community, thus centralising YP as the leaders and change agents in the project.

Background to School Food Matters

School Food Matters (SFM) exists to teach children about food and to improve children’s access to healthy, sustainable food during their time at school. We provide fully funded food education programmes to schools. Our experience delivering these programmes informs and strengthens our campaigns, bringing the voices of children, parents and teachers to government policy.

Healthy Zones programme

Healthy Zones supports primary, secondary and special schools to create a food environment that puts young people's health centre stage. We are working with schools to develop food policies and to improve the food served in their breakfast and after school clubs. The programme uses a whole school approach through hands-on engagement with students, staff, kitchen teams, governors and parents.

Job Purpose

· To promote, develop and deliver the Healthy Zones programme across schools in Southwark and Lambeth

· Support with the expansion of the Healthy Zones programme across other regions in England

Key Tasks include:

•  Recruit schools to take part in Healthy Zones
• Complete food audits in schools looking across the whole school day (training provided)
• Develop and deliver healthy after school club and breakfast club modules (convene working groups in schools, run simple food preparation engagement sessions (training provided), empower student voice, build relationships with the after-school club staff)

 Under 5’s Development Worker

 This is an exciting opportunity to join a small, dedicated team based in Wakefield. 

This is a new post which has been developed following a research project commissioned by Prosper Wakefield District (was Wakefield and District Health and Community Support) in 2022 and carried out by Rocket Science, a national research organisation. The purpose was to identify where additional investment from Prosper could make the most impact in priority areas arising from their findings.

One key finding related to children, young people and families; this was followed up by a workshop where it was developed to focus on under 5’s in a specific area of the district. This role is funded for 2 years with a possible additional year, to take this forward and demonstrate what can be achieved.

Young Lives Consortium is a membership organisation supporting VCSE organisations and groups who work with children, young people and families across the Wakefield District. By working together, we achieve more, progress faster and deliver better services.  Our current services include consultancy, training, support, project management, information, guidance and best practice support, our vision is to ensure those working with Children, Young People and Families achieve their goals.

MAIN OBJECTIVES:

To establish an under 5’s network of VCSE organisations promoting capacity building, developing workforce pathways, using a child and family centred approach to respond to community need.

To work alongside an established VCSE Play organisation to support the development of a specific offer to children and families of under 5s within the Warwick neighbourhood, located in Knottingley in Wakefield District

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 1. Community Development of Activities for Children under 5.

Using the principles of the ‘First 1000’ days research to inform the project development:

· Prepare to measure and collect data, undertake research, gather key measures on which to measure improvement, evaluate and demonstrate success, identify appropriate methods and design evaluation process, identify target group and potential organisations to become involved.

· Identify and involve key stakeholders such as parents/carers, local under 5's provision, VCSE organisations, schools, health centres, and community leaders. Hold initial meetings to introduce the initiative and gather input.

· Conduct alongside VCSE organisations a comprehensive needs assessment and engagement activities to understand parents/carers' needs, challenges, and preferences for children under 5 in the community.

· Establish a steering group with representatives from all stakeholders to guide the project and develop an action plan.

2. Support for developing the Under 5’s offer

· To research and identify, appropriate existing local training, to support the project goals. 

· Develop an offer of training and workshops to the wider staff and volunteer workforce on approaches to early childhood development for VCSE staff, parents, carers, partners and community members resulting in strengthened community leadership with a strong emphasis on Safeguarding.

· Identify, document and log best practice resources already in use within the sector and identify any perceived gaps or need for activities to support need.

· Work alongside VCSE organisations and early childhood experts to identify and begin to develop developmentally appropriate activities for infants and toddlers based on the needs and assets assessment that can be delivered in a community setting.

· Identify accessible and child friendly locations for activities and resources.

· In developing groups recognise that individuals may have a range of health inequalities that may require a trauma informed approach to the work.

· Collaborate with the local authority and health services including the Integrated Care Board for supportive policies and resources.

3. Celebrate and promote the Under 5’s offer developed through this programme

· Organise community events to introduce the activities to promote the offer and champion this with the wider community.

· Provide tasters for example on sensory play, baby yoga, music and movement, and parenting workshops, focusing on child parent interaction.

· Introduce campaigns to support the programme’s aim and share information about early childhood.

· Organise an event to celebrate programme accomplishments and positive impacts.

· Appreciate parent/carer leaders, volunteers, VCSE groups, and stakeholders.

4. Inclusive Approach

• Identify and engage marginalised groups for inclusivity. Collaborate with local organisations to enhance outreach ensuring that people experiencing health inequalities can participate.
• Adapt activities to be culturally sensitive, respecting diverse backgrounds and traditions.
• Actively promote equal opportunities, celebrate diversity and challenge discriminatory practice

 5. Monitoring and recording activity, impact and evaluation

· Gather feedback from parents/carers, children, and community members about activity effectiveness. Review workforce development opportunities.

· Develop a comprehensive evaluation framework in collaboration with colleagues to demonstrate impact.

· Evaluate the impact of the capacity building programme, provide recommendations for improvement.

· Assess activity impact, identify gaps, and address barriers with the steering group.

 6. Collaboration for Sustainability

· Collaborate with businesses, educational institutions, statutory partners and healthcare providers to promote the activities and gain additional resources.

· Explore further sustainable funding models for ongoing activities.

· Facilitate mentorship opportunities for VCSE groups to respond to early years needs and the trauma-informed approach as required.

· Replicate activities in new community locations.

12. Other requirements

· To ensure that all work delivered meets the requirements of Wakefield District Safeguarding Partnership and within the context of Wakefield Families Together

Oasis South Bristol hub team is now in a position to employ a Community Project Worker to work alongside our Oasis Community Hub team in South Bristol and we are looking for a talented and adaptable person to join our busy team focussed on supporting our academies in Hengrove: Oasis John Williams and Oasis New Oak and the communities they serve.

The role will encompass community support activity as well developing and running school holiday provision. 

Key responsibilities will be:

• To provide enrichment activities to the children’s youth work to include holiday schemes, afterschool and lunch time clubs.
• To develop a strong food poverty programme and offer support for the community through adult education, wellbeing, advocacy/family support and volunteering opportunities.
• To work alongside the Strategic Community Development Leader to develop funding and volunteer capacity which can support the Academies holistically across all of the Hub.

Harington is an Ofsted registered specialist college based in North London rated good, working with around 52 young people with learning differences aged 16-25. Our mission is to create an inclusive environment, that delivers outstanding personalised education, learning, and support, which leads to further education, employment opportunities, and a fulfilling life for each of our students. 

We specialise in horticulture, retail and general employability. Our students undertake individualised learning programmes and supported internships that lead to vocational qualifications and achieving other aims. We support the wellbeing of our young people through providing mentoring, counselling, enrichment and other one-to-one support.

Our charity has two learning centres in Highgate and Hornsey. We also operate a gardening business and two charity shops, providing income for our charity, work experience placements for our students and employment for 14 young people. We work with local employers and partners to provide work experience and other opportunities for our students.

The Role

This is an exciting time to join the Harington, as we have recently appointed a new Principal/CEO. We want to ensure that the Harington is able to fulfil and secure its mission to benefit our young people, both now and into the future.

In the next year we will consolidate what we do well and seek to strengthen the areas where we could do better. The Interim COO will work with all stakeholders and closely with the Principal/CEO to review, plan and implement the necessary changes. The role is initially for 9 months, but it is anticipated that it will continue after the initial review and planning period.  

This Interim Chief Operating Officer role will:-

1)Support the development and implementation of the strategic plan and through the annual Operations Plan and Budget, and be responsible for measuring and evaluating progress against goals and targets

2)Drive excellence and efficiency across Finance, HR, Governance, Operations, and IT, strengthening and embedding the right policies, systems, processes, technology and infrastructure ensuring seamless execution and robust management of risk.

3)Manage our three commercial businesses (two charity shops and Harington Gardeners) so they meet our social, learning and business aims

4)Oversee Harington’s fundraising so we secure the income we need from trusts and foundations, individual donors and community fundraising

5)Ensure effective management of the buildings and estate of a multi-site organisation, and the support services required to provide a suitable and safe environment for learning and working, that meets the required health and safety standards

6) Ensure that all staff feel valued and supported, with effective management of staff, operations and administration

We are looking for a Project Lead to play a pivotal role in the strategic planning, execution, and monitoring of a new innovative programme, the Immunization Accelerator, that seeks to fund and support locally-led innovations that address long standing barriers to child immunisation in Nigeria and Ethiopia.

The role needs to be based in either Ethiopia or Nigeria.

Background

The Immunization Accelerator is part of an ambitious five-year partnership which includes programmes in Ethiopia and Nigeria focusing on access to quality immunisation services, and a research agenda generating robust and credible evidence about the effectiveness of interventions, as well as value for money and replicability. We will partner with academic institutions, including those from Ethiopia and Nigeria.

The accelerator is part of a wider 5 year partnership between Save the Children and GSK in Nigeria and Ethiopia which will include research partnering with academic institutions, generating robust and credible evidence about the effectiveness of interventions, as well as their value for money and replicability and, programmes in Ethiopia and Nigeria building on our previous immunisation track-record, including those implemented in the Somali region of Ethiopia in partnership with GSK.

 Your Role

As the Immunization Accelerator Project Manager, you will play a pivotal role in the planning, execution, and monitoring of innovative projects aimed at overcoming barriers to child immunization. As part of a , working in synergy with teams across the Save the Children movement, you will collaborate with colleagues across the Save the Children movement as well as local organizations and institutions, to ensure that promising innovations receive the support they need to develop their evidence bases.

Your Key Accountabilities:

• Lead the end to end support of immunization innovations, from selection via an open call, through piloting to evaluation. You will be able to help innovators work through the next steps they need to take in order to build their evidence bases and take their innovations to the next level.
• Regular in-person support and monitoring of selected innovation projects/partners, including site visits that will require frequent travel in both Nigeria and Ethiopia.
• Initiate and lead discussions with local enterprise, health and innovation stakeholders, including donors, investors, and communities, to ensure the incubator is well networked, has a healthy pipeline and can offer the best support for our innovators.
• You will collaborate with diverse stakeholders, including local partners, Save the Children and GSK to deliver the programme.
• Communicate regularly with the Accelerator Project Team and Accelerator Investment Committees, providing progress reports from the innovators.
• Ensure relevant quality assurance processes are completed so that programmes are running effectively and on time. Support award team to ensure that awards management and other relevant information systems are up-to-date, and that global and internal processes are followed.
• Support grant and contract management, from grant set-up to quality assurance during implementation, lead reporting on the Accelerator and work with other SCUK departments to support reporting of the Immunisation programme. Ensure awards in the portfolio are compliant with donor requirements and SC quality standards.
• Implement an agile evaluation and learning approach, regularly collecting and analysing relevant data to adapt. Facilitate review and reflection meetings to optimize the design of the incubator and support provided. And ensure evaluation of the incubator and innovations takes place in a robust and useful.

About You

To be successful, it is important that you have the following skills and experience:

• Proven experience in project management, specifically in the field of enterprise support or health innovation, health management or health research.
• Must have previous experience of working with a range of in-country organisations of different types and sizes, for example, Community Based Organisations, Non-Government Organisations, universities, private sector health initiatives.
• Strong leadership skills, with the ability to bring together cross-functional teams and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
• Demonstrable experience of the innovation process, preferably with experience in global health initiatives or social enterprise.
• Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex concepts to diverse audiences.
• Demonstrated ability to adapt to complexity and uncertainty, with an entrepreneurial mindset.
• Demonstrated ability to manage project budgets and reporting.
• Previous experience working in a global and multicultural context is highly desirable.

About the opportunity
Corporate partnerships are critical to delivering our mission and ensuring we can support as many children and young people facing disadvantage to open doors to their future. The Philanthropy Team as a whole has a combined target income for the current year (2023-24) of £1.83 million (growing to £2.35m as our target for next year) of which approximately £850k is from corporate donors and their foundations. We have been successful year on year in increasing our fundraising base by building secure multi-year partnerships. Part of our growth strategy is looking at building stronger relationships with corporate partners, having established a strong multi-year relationship for the first time this year worth £500k annually. We have a great ability to measure and quantify its impact, which we are looking to better communicate and leverage with current and potential corporate partners.

We’re looking for a Corporate Partnerships Manager to lead on our corporate partnership activities and initiatives, including growing income from corporate partners as well as increasing the number of corporate volunteer tutor applications we receive from them. Working within our Philanthropy Team, the Corporate Partnerships Manager will be responsible for the line-management and development of two Corporate Partnership Coordinators, ensuring that, as a team, you meet your corporate income and volunteer application targets. Your focus will be on deepening and leveraging relationships with our existing partners, alongside engaging new organisations with our mission and vision.

Duties and responsibilities

The Volunteer Manager (VM) is responsible for overseeing high-quality sourcing of volunteers to join as 1MM Mentors across the regions, which includes partnership development, online site listing, and matching mentors/mentees, general oversight of mentoring relationships in different programmes, implementation of safeguarding measures, fundraising, meeting growth targets and leading all aspects of mentor management. The role will help to establish a pipeline across the regions, with 5000 new mentors for 2024.  This role reports to the Chief Commercial Officer (CCO).

1MM VM’s main tasks include:

• Helping 1MM to scale by sourcing sufficient volunteer mentors who go on to become confirmed matches for high quality mentoring relationships.

• Ensuring mentors coming online have completed the platform mentor training within 1 month, and that this conversion results in sufficient and timely readiness of mentors to meet the needs of programmes with one month’s lead time.

• Providing ongoing support to 1MM’’s Volunteer Providers (eg employer partners), maintaining strong relationships.

• Securing one corporate sponsor per quarter.

• Becoming familiar with the 1MM Platform, using it comfortably for ongoing administration and providing support to mentors.

• Providing a weekly update on various aspects of mentor recruitment, including expected supply, actual registration, and confirmed matching. Share lessons learned on volunteer conversion and matching with the wider team.

Terms and Conditions:

This is a full time role offered in London, for 6 months (continuing subject to funding). This is a hybrid role with two days working at home, two days in the London office, and one day where it is up to you.

Remuneration and benefits: Salary bracket of £29,000 per annum plus London Weighting (pro rata), up to 6.5% employer pension contribution and 25 days holiday per year (pro rata)..  We also offer monthly team Learning and Development training sessions, and 15 hours volunteering allowance per year.
