Salford Foodbank provides emergency food parcels to local people who are referred to us in crisis. Food is donated, sorted and packed at our warehouse, then delivered to our 7 centres across Salford, where teams of volunteers greet people as they pick up their food parcels. People can also access support and advice at our centres to help them maximise their income and ensure they are less likely to need to use the foodbank again.

You’ll be joining a friendly team of 6 part-time staff, 6 Trustees and approx. 80 volunteers, all dedicated to supporting people facing hardship. We are part of The Trussell Trust, a nationwide network of foodbanks.

Rate of pay: £21,000 per annum for 22.5 hours per week (£35,000 FTE pro-rata)

Full-time / part-time: Part time role 22.5 hours per week (flexible, home based within the North West with some contact hours at Salford Foodbank warehouse/office)

Temporary / permanent: Fixed term contract role for 18 months, with opportunity to extend based on funding

•  This is an exciting opportunity to join Salford Foodbank in a new role, accountable to the Foodbank Manager and the board of trustees. As the need for Foodbank services continues to grow Salford Foodbank has developed and expanded. The staff and volunteer team have increased, and we have embarked on new projects to support those that use the Foodbank.
• In order to maintain our current services and further develop, we need to grow our annual fundraised income.
• Through this new organisational role, you’ll proactively create and grow fundraising income, reach, and support from grant giving trusts and foundations as well as corporate organisations across Salford and Greater Manchester.  
• Through your fundraising expertise, you will have a proven track record of growing income and building relationships with trusts and foundations as well as corporate partners to achieve and exceed annual income targets and KPI’s. You’ll have the capacity to create and craft compelling funding proposals that successfully engage and attract donations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Through excellent, comprehensive and considered research, you’ll identify and prioritise a pool of potential grant giving trusts and foundations funders for Salford Foodbank. You’ll forge relationships with those funders, develop and submit timely and winning funding applications.
• You’ll manage the ongoing relationships with grant giving trusts and foundations funders, ensuring they receive excellent stewardship, timely reporting and doing all you can maximising potential for further funding
• You’ll proactively identify, engage and build good relationships with prospective corporate donors, successfully securing them as funding partners. Alongside this you’ll deepen engagement and grow our relationships and partnerships with existing corporate donors.
• Working with colleagues across Salford Foodbank, you’ll develop authentic, compelling, creative and winning funding and partnership proposals that can successfully engage grant giving trusts, foundations and corporate partners and that can successfully align our vision and work with their needs, motivations, areas of interests and values.
• You’ll research potential funding opportunities from the local council and local authorities.
• You will develop, monitor and manage a fundraising portfolio. You’ll establish a fundraising pipeline, including a range of KPI’s that can be tracked and that will enable you to make informed projections regarding future income.
• You’ll work collaboratively with other Trussell Trust food banks across the Greater Manchester area, identifying and progressing opportunities for joint funding proposals and partnerships.
• You’ll forge strong relationships with colleagues across the wider Trussell Trust network, sharing best practice and learning from other charities across the network. You’ll proactively take advantage of any fundraising training and skills development opportunities and engage with any joint fundraising opportunities.
• You’ll be willing to carry out other reasonable duties contributing to the overall aims of the Foodbank.

Skills

The Treasury and Investments team at the Trust plays a crucial and wide-ranging role. Managing the Trust's investment portfolio of approximately £1.5 billion, the team aligns the portfolio with the Trust's environmental goals without compromising returns. They secure external debt for the Trust, finance most of the Trust's commercial and renewable energy projects, oversee day-to-day cash management, and are now starting to develop, often very innovative, strategies for accessing finance to support action on climate change and nature restoration initiatives.

Please note the advertised salary is inclusive of a £13,000k reviewable market supplement. Your base salary will be £55,000k and you will receive the market supplement as an allowance on top.

The Treasury team, consisting of eight dedicated members, including two other Treasury and Investments Funding Managers, collaborates across all levels of the Trust, from individual properties to the Board and Trustees. Your contractual location will be our head office in Swindon and there will be an expectation for you to attend this office from time to time. The Young People Programme Manager will work with the Creative Learning team at Factory International to develop, deliver and manage programmes of work with young people between the ages of 14 and 30. This role will be responsible for the delivery of key strategic partnerships with commercial brands, as well as developing new streams of work with a focus on sharing power through curatorial programme decision making, programming and youth governance.

Creative Learning develop and deliver learning programs with young people and children from Cradle to Creative (the age of 0 through to 30) with a focus on underrepresented children, young people and artists. All of our programmes have a social and emotional learning outcome and focus on improving mental health, wellbeing and resilience. Learning programmes are linked to Factory International artistic commissions with wider curatorial themes drawn out to align with social and emotional frameworks.

Cherry Lodge Cancer Care is an independent charity committed to improving the quality of life for people living with cancer, their carers, family, and friends.

We have an exciting opportunity for you to join us as a Cancer Information Specialist Nurse, and are seeking an experienced, flexible, and dynamic NMC registered nurse to join our team. 

At Cherry Lodge, we work alongside the clinical care of the NHS in an area centred on Barnet and covering much of North London and South Hertfordshire. We are based at the very friendly and welcoming Cherry Lodge Centre, in Union Street, Chipping Barnet. We also have an Outreach Service with an impact across the borough of Barnet, concentrating particularly on providing information and support to members of black and minority ethnic groups. Our Befriending Service provides additional support for people in their own homes.

Job Purpose:

To act as a specialist information resource for the management of people with cancer, their carers, and families.

To co-ordinate, manage and develop the Cherry Lodge Cancer Care (CLCC) information service by providing assessment, information, support and signposting to people visiting and telephoning the centre. Oversight of interventions and therapies delivered, ensuring the person with cancer/carer/family experience of support feels seamless and is transparent.

To work proactively with primary and secondary care and voluntary sector partners to promote Cherry Lodge Cancer Care and build awareness of the support available for people living with and beyond cancer. This will include further developing relationships with local cancer care providers including the North London Hospice and North Central London Cancer Alliance.

Contribute to the coordination of the day-to-day running of therapy and complementary therapies delivered at CLCC,  including mentoring of junior staff and volunteers as necessary. Working in close partnership with the Volunteer Co-ordinator and Befriending Service Lead.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Information/Service Provision

To ensure people with cancer their carers and families/friends gain access to the information they require by providing the following services:

1. To provide one to one sessions where assessment and planning ensures people are able to discuss all information aspects of their illness (symptom management, treatment, and living with cancer).

2. Provide support, access to therapies and signposting to other local services and support services.

3. Provide appropriate psychological support throughout the cancer diagnosis, treatment and follow up pathway, as appropriate and identified by the person with cancer.

4. Facilitate and support nurse/therapy led groups

5. Act as the person with cancer’s advocate, particularly where informed discussion may affect care management options, by ensuring robust links with secondary care Clinical Specialist Nurses.

6. Deliver support, information, and education to promote self-care following a diagnosis, and reduce risks of future complications. Actively encourage a Health & Wellbeing, enabling approach.

7. Work closely with the Cancer Information Specialist Nurse (Outreach).

8. To maintain a comprehensive, accurate and up to date information resource, including a database of information about local and national services.

9. Maintain professional links and liaise with other units/centres to ensure continuity of care and support for patients throughout their care pathway.

10.  To use communication skills and empathy to impart information at all levels. To work with the Operations Manager to audit the service on a regular basis ensuring that feedback from users of the service is used to develop services further.

11.  Support and participate in service review and ongoing development of nurse/therapy led services.

12.  Ensure clear and concise records are documented ensuring effective communication observing NMC guidance for records and records keeping.

13.  To provide information by telephone and respond to written requests for information.

Managerial and Leadership responsibilities

2. To critically evaluate latest research and audit findings, disseminating these findings into practice in order to develop best practice and helping to support understanding by all (centre users and staff).

Our Strategy aims to enhance the effectiveness of nutrition policy and programming by improving knowledge, stimulating learning, building evidence and providing support and encouragement to practitioners and decision-makers involved in nutrition and related interventions.

Field Exchange (FEX) is ENN’s established online and print technical publication on nutrition and food security in emergencies and high burden contexts. The first edition was produced in 1996 in response to a demand by international agencies for a way to capture and rapidly ‘exchange’ humanitarian programming experiences, to share relevant research, evaluations, news and offer a platform for technical views. Field Exchange enables fast track publication of programming experiences of relevance to nutrition in emergencies and high burden contexts. We feature articles across sectors and from a range of contexts, from acute emergencies to fragile and conflict affected states. We include both original articles and summaries of relevant research. Purpose of the role

This role will provide oversight, coordinate and manage  the editorial process of publishing Field Exchange that includes tracking ideas, soliciting and securing submissions of Field Exchange content, critically appraising potential content, discussing, brokering and supporting content development with authors, coordinating input from the Field Exchange Editorial Team, liaising with copy editors and designers and ensuring content deadlines are scheduled and are adhered to, as well as ensuring quality, relevant and timely curated content is produced and disseminated. This position will also take a lead role in implementing the Field Exchange Strategy 2024-2029.

Key Responsibilities

Content development

• Actively seek opportunities for FEX content across a broad range of technical areas, leveraging and developing internal and external contacts and networks.
• Seek and secure a spectrum of contributors, prioritising country stakeholder lead and co-authorship. And including Francophone representation (in collaboration with FEX francophone lead).
• Communicate with potential authors to explore opportunities for content and provide support and guidance in development of articles (structure, writing and technical content).
• Edit articles to address structure, flow and language.
• Appraise articles for rigour and validity. Pose technical questions to authors to clarify, substantiate, elaborate and prompt deeper reflection and learning.
• Identify need for and coordinate internal or external peer review for prospective articles.
• Write succinct summaries (abstracts) of original articles.

• Collate themes and key messages across all articles for editors and work with them to produce editorials and technical briefs.

  • Contribute to development of a communications plan for each FEX issue in order to disseminate content optimally.
  • Curate and initiate development of FEX website content, identifying areas for development.

FEX strategy implementation

• Take the lead in the implementation of the FEX strategy 2024-2029, such as by:
  • Making smaller adjustments to the FEX process as identified.
  • Coordinating larger pieces of prioritised work, for example by:
    • Building the capacity of authors through a more comprehensive approach.
    • Expanding our reach to younger audiences.
    • Engaging with academic institutions in more resource-poor settings.
• Mobilise resources for FEX through engagement with donors and other FEX contributors through identifying potential sources of funding, engaging with donors and ‘selling’ FEX, and writing proposals to secure funding.

 Internal project content coordination

• Coordinate, manage and track development of all articles and issues from submission to publication against deadlines, ensuring donor requirements are met.
• Communicate with all authors, FEX team members and external consultants to facilitate the development of every article and issue, as well as other outputs such as technical briefs. 
• Collate and review submissions, potential papers for summarising and other opportunities, and solicit necessary and timely editorial review and final decisions.
• Initiate regular meetings and other communications with the FEX editors to provide feedback on progress, explore opportunities, and make decisions about submissions, content to summarise, delegation of tasks and timelines and input into strategic discussions about future content/issues.
• Lead regular meetings with wider FEX team (editors, sub-editors, operations team, communications team, copy editor, designer) for feedback on progress, agreement on timelines, to brainstorm ideas and delegate tasks.
• Present FEX content to wider ENN technical team and other audiences as needed through webinars, presentations and other opportunities.

• Master’s degree in nutrition or public health or equivalent professional experience.

Purpose of role

CSC is seeking to recruit a new CEO who will lead, empower, and mobilise the organisation and its support to its network members, whilst securing sustainable funding and investment so CSC can deliver its mission. Strategic planning and priority setting

Resource mobilisation and sustainability

• As ‘chief fundraiser’ for the organisation, take the lead in strengthening the organisation’s fundraising strategy and income generation. Be actively involved in working with the staff team to bring in new income (restricted and unrestricted) by conceptualising the presentation of programme, advocacy, policy, and research work and developing customised approaches to donors. Ensure sustainable and diverse sources of income in the face of the current challenging fundraising environment.
• Work with our Development Board and other Trustees to engage with philanthropic and corporate foundations and high net worth individuals globally, attracting new donors and continuing to grow the organisation’s partnership base and international networks.
• Develop and maintain strong positive relationships with donors (United Nations agencies, foundations, multi-laterals, bi-laterals, corporate sector, and individuals) and partners to cultivate support for CSC through appropriate presence and communication.

Building CSC’s profile

• Protect and further strengthen CSC’s external brand, profile, and credibility as a thought leader in the field of child rights and child protection in relation to street connected children.

• Oversee and ensure CSC’s fiscal soundness and strength, effective operational and financial management, consolidating financial stability, efficiency, and impact.
• Oversee monthly management accounts, carefully balancing restricted donor funding and project delivery with a balanced budget for unrestricted funded activity.
• Ensure proper financial and procurement procedures are adhered to, in order to meet the highest standards of international donors, UK auditors and the UK Charity Commission.
• Oversee processes to ensure strong negotiations and contracting of all our restricted funded projects, including robust due diligence processes for our subgrantees and donor compliance with respect to cost recovery and other requirements.

Governance

• Establish and maintain a strong working relationship with the Board.
• Ensure the Board is fully supported in carrying out its role and responsibilities and that CSC is fully compliant with UK Charity Commission guidelines, Fundraising Regulator, and good practice for non-profits.
