About your role 

This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled Fundraising Co-ordinator to join the Marketing, Communications and Fundraising team at Housing Justice.As Fundraising Co-ordinator, you will identify both statutory and grant funding opportunities to fund our projects, and craft compelling bids and proposals that clearly articulate our vision, services, and value to commissioners and funders. You will also be responsible for applying for relevant accreditations to support your applications and will have experience of building corporate partnerships.

The Role 

We are looking for a creative, organised and motivated Marketing and Events Manager who is passionate about making a difference. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in raising awareness of The Care Workers’ Charity and supporting our work to improve the lives of care workers across the UK. 

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, you will lead the delivery of the charity’s marketing and events programme, helping to grow engagement, strengthen our profile and support our fundraising activities. You will be responsible for planning and delivering marketing campaigns across a range of channels, including social media, email newsletters and the website, ensuring our communications are clear, engaging and consistent. You will play an important role in telling the story of the charity’s impact and helping more care workers, supporters and partners connect with our work. 

Events will be a central part of the role. You will coordinate and deliver a varied programme of activities including fundraising events, sector conferences, networking opportunities and national campaigns such as Professional Care Workers’ Week. You will be confident managing event logistics, working with venues and suppliers, coordinating speakers and partners, and ensuring events are well organised and professionally delivered. You will enjoy creating engaging and memorable experiences that help supporters feel connected to the charity’s work. 

You will work closely with the fundraising team to support campaigns and partnerships, helping to create engaging opportunities that encourage supporters and organisations to get involved. The role will involve building positive relationships with partners and sponsors and representing the charity at meetings and events across the sector. 

About You 

You will be a confident communicator who enjoys working with people and finding new ways to engage supporters, partners and care workers in the work of the charity. 

You will have experience delivering marketing campaigns and organising events, and you will enjoy bringing ideas to life from concept through to delivery. Whether coordinating a fundraising event, supporting a conference presence or helping to deliver a national campaign, you will be comfortable managing multiple projects and ensuring everything runs smoothly. 

You should be confident using a range of marketing channels including social media, email marketing and websites, and be willing to try new approaches to help raise awareness and grow engagement. You will be organised and detail-focused, able to manage event logistics, coordinate suppliers and venues, and ensure a positive experience for everyone involved. 

You will be a proactive self-starter who can work independently while also being a strong team player. Experience in marketing, events or fundraising is essential, and knowledge of the health and social care sector would be an advantage.

• Governance and Compliance
  • Maintain and update governance policies and registers, and development of Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Act as the primary liaison for Board governance matters, including preparing Board papers, ensuring timely reporting and minuting.
  • Monitor compliance with charity law, GDPR, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate annual policy reviews and ensure staff adherence.

• Risk and Audit
  • Maintain and update the organisational risk register for quarterly Board review.
  • Support internal audits and external compliance checks.
  • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies.

• Operational Efficiency
  • Review and streamline operational processes to improve efficiency, including IT and telephony, authorisations, filing and recruitment.
  • Support budget monitoring and reporting in collaboration with Finance.

• Reporting and Data
  • Prepare governance and operational reports for the CEO and Board.
  • Ensure accurate documentation and record-keeping for governance purposes.

Acorns Children’s Hospice provides specialist care and support for babies, children and young people who are life limited or life threatened. • Conduct an audit of current partnerships activity, pipeline and resource allocation to ensure effort aligns to regional and national potential

Essential skills and experience:

• Strong corporate fundraising background within a charity setting
• Proven track record of securing six-figure corporate gifts

JOB PURPOSE

 With support from a friendly and experienced team, you will take ownership of a portfolio of trusts and foundations, managing relationships and securing donations typically ranging from £500 to £10,000. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• With support, submit reports, deliver effective communications and maintain engaging relationships with your pool of existing funders.

We are seeking an experienced Fundraising Manager to join our team on a fixed-term 14 month contract (maternity cover). 

The successful candidate will primarily be responsible for the management and delivery of our challenge events, special events and community fundraising streams, but the post-holder would also be expected to regularly support activities across our corporate partnerships, individual giving and Family Fundraising streams of fundraising too.

Essential Experience and Skills

• A minimum of three years proven experience in a fundraising role, preferably in a challenge, community or special events fundraising role.

• Experience in writing and developing stewardship plans and in creating engaging fundraising collateral to support donors and supporters of all levels.
• Demonstrable experience in developing and managing fundraising evens from design to completion, including logistical planning, budgeting, forecasting, stewardship and evaluation.

The programme works by training, coaching and providing PR booking support for spokespeople from civil society working on social, environmental and economic issues. So far we’ve had over 11,000 high-profile media bookings including Question Time, Newsnight, Good Morning Britain, LBC, Channel 4 News, BBC 5 Live, Today, Sky News and ITV News plus many more.

What you will be doing

• Run two Scotland-based Spokesperson Network Trainings
• Keep on top of the current trends and topics in the Scottish media and political environment
• Seek to book the spokespeople who have been trained into the media - with expectations of providing each person trained with ongoing media opportunities

Hours

Full-time, which for NEON is 28 hours a week - the equivalent of a 4 day standard work week. This can be done over 4 or 5 days, that’s totally up to you. Hours are generally flexible, with some core meetings everyone has to be at.

Overall Purpose
 
The Fundraising Lead will both raise money to support the sustainability of NHS Charities Together and contribute to supporting NHS Charities to increase their income.
 
The role oversees the day to day operations of both our fundraising activity and our practical support to members.
 
Overall Objectives

• Lead the strategic development of a simplified individual giving programme focused on donor retention, stewardship, and legacy conversion.
• Oversee the creation and rollout of scalable, white-label fundraising products or campaigns that enable member charities to increase income and deepen supporter engagement.
• Oversee and support the development and stewardship of corporate relationships to deliver partnerships in support of our mission.

Key Responsibilities
 
The main duties and responsibilities of the role holder are as outlined below:
 
NHS Charities Together Fundraising Strategy

• Oversee the shaping of and support the Stewardship Manager on the delivery of a simplified, effective individual giving programme aligned with NHS Charities Together’s strategic priorities, with a focus on the retention and upgrade of existing donors and avoiding competing with our members.
• Ensure individual donors are regularly engaged and asked for appropriate cash gifts through a light-touch programme.
• Ensure that legacy messaging is prominent in the donor engagement cycle, to inspire existing donors to consider long-term support, aligned with their gratitude to the NHS, with appropriate pathways offered.
• Oversee prompt, accurate, and heartfelt thanking processes for all donations.
• Manage the welcome journey for unsolicited donations, and oversee the cost-effective management of existing commitments for community or events-based activity to ensure a return
• Lead stewardship for donors giving up to £25,000.
• Oversee and support the Partnerships & Philanthropy Manager to manage the relationships with selected key corporate relationships, identifying opportunities for partnerships and liaising closely with NHS Charities Together colleagues to support the development of fundable propositions which benefit our sector and our own organisation.

 
Sector Fundraising Support

• Champion sector-wide change by equipping member charities with scalable, plug-and-play fundraising products and strategic guidance that enhances their income generation capacity through individual giving, working closely with the engagement team.
• Oversee the development of support the Products Manager on the rollout of replicable or white-label fundraising products, starting with the roll-out of a lottery and legacy product, and on the development of campaigns (e.g. focused on grateful patients).
• Oversee and drive the thinking on future fundraising products that will appeal to and benefit our diverse group of member charities.
• Work closely with the engagement team and other NHS Charites together staff to tailor activity in line with segmentation and engagement strategies.
• Build trusted relationships with member charities, positioning yourself as a knowledgeable and empathetic fundraising expert.
• Contribute to supporting NHS Charities to raise their income, providing advice and guidance 1:1 and through supporting the delivery of member events. Where required support the delivery of paid for consulting support to NHS charities on fundraising.

 
Team Leadership & Compliance

• Lead and motivate the team, providing effective direction in their activities to ensure individual and team objectives are achieved.
• Deliver the new NHS Charities Together fundraising programme on budget and on target, and ensure appropriate reporting is delivered to support our governance.

• Ensure excellent use of the CRM for donor engagement, reporting, and data management, and ensure the development of efficient systems and process that maximise donor income and satisfaction.

THE CHARITY

Suicide is the leading cause of death of men under 35 and three quarters of those who die by suicide are men. James’ Place exists to save the lives of men in suicidal crisis through delivering clinical services. We are a charity currently offering free, life-saving therapy to suicidal men at our centres in Liverpool, London and Newcastle.

James’ Place was set up by Clare Milford Haven and Nick Wentworth-Stanley in 2008 after their twenty-one-year-old son, James, died by suicide ten days after a minor operation. James had no history of mental illness or depression and had sought urgent help for anxiety and suicidal thoughts but didn’t find it.   

James' Place was set up to make the experience of finding help as easy as possible. We offer men who are experiencing a suicidal crisis a brief, intensive, therapeutic intervention in a safe environment. Men who walk through the door at James’ Place will be in a space where they feel valued and respected.  We provide a calm and peaceful environment both inside the centres and in our outside spaces, accessible to men who visit us as well as their friends and families. We have so far treated over 4,300 men who might otherwise have been unable to access the support they desperately need.

In early 2026 we will be opening our fourth centre in Birmingham, which will support suicidal men living in the West Midlands.

THE OPPORTUNITY

This is a new role in an expanding and dynamic organisation. It responds to our growing ambition to share what we have learned about suicide prevention and delivering services to men who are affected by inequalities.

We understand that for more men to be saved, we need others to take action too. And we need to make this case for change as compelling and impactful as possible to influence commissioners, NHS providers, or policy makers to save more men’s lives.

This role will involve leading the influencing strategy, building evidence-based policy positions, and executing powerful messaging to effectively demonstrate the impact of crisis intervention and the importance of extending this provision to more men across the country.

Overarching priorities

· To influence national and local systems leaders on the importance of rapid, equitable, accessible and tailored treatment and support for acutely suicidal men.

· To establish James’ Place as a leading and credible voice in innovative suicide prevention practice, reducing inequalities in access and in supporting men who other services aren’t reaching.

· To strengthen our evidence base and contribute insight and data to networks and partners who can grow its impact (such as organisations with larger influencing teams, media organisations, policy makers and think tanks).

· Identify key actors and establish, lead and execute an influencing plan for the next 12 – 24 months, in line with the above priorities, emerging insight and changing contexts.

· Adopt a holistic perspective with communications and fundraising colleagues, that is deeply informed by clinical practice and aligned with strategies for growth.
