Purpose of the role:
Are you curious about the society we live in and passionate about making a difference? We’re looking for a creative, passionate and organised manager to join the newly established Activate Team.
The Activate Manager will manage the delivery of the new Activate Fund, which has been designed to enable Churchill Fellows to turn their ideas into action for the benefit of individuals and communities in the UK.
The role will also collaborate closely with the Research and Engagement team to design and deliver new forms of non-financial support for Fellows, enabling them to maximise the impact of their learning, and their potential to create change.
Key Responsibilities
1. Application support
- Acting as the first point of contact for the Activate Fund, managing the inbox, responding to enquiries, providing empathetic and tailored support to applicants and grant holders.
- Designing and delivering support for applicants, for example webinars, 1:1 surgeries, contributing to guidance materials and media content.
- Contributing to the development of Fund documentation, including updating email templates used at each stage of the selection process, in close collaboration with the Salesforce team.
- Participating in longlisting applications alongside the Head of Activate to create a strong shortlist for external panels.
- Co-ordinating the shortlisting and interview process: creating the interview timetable, inviting, briefing and training panel members, liaising with interview candidates, organizing relevant documentation, and supporting the smooth running of interviews.
- Working with the Communications team, supporting the development of key messaging in the run-up to the launch of the Activate Fund in Spring 2026, including drafting web copy and e-news, sourcing case studies and quotes.
2. Grants Management
- Liaising with Activate grant holders to ensure award documentation is signed and returned and responding to any queries.
- Being the main point of contact for Activate grantholders, offering or signposting appropriate advice and support to aid successful project delivery.
- Managing the reporting and payment process in close collaboration with the Salesforce and Finance teams, reviewing progress reports, approving payments and requests for changes to grant duration or budget allocation within agreed Fund parameters.
3. Capacity Building
- Exploring, designing and delivering or brokering a range of additional support for grant holders, such as coaching, mentoring, convening, network-building, skills development and action learning.
- Collaborating with colleagues in the Research and Engagement team to make sure this capacity-building programme complements the wider Fellowship offer.
4. Evaluation and learning
- Supporting the ongoing improvement of the Activate Fund through analysis of application and award trends and by collecting and reviewing feedback, with a particular focus on EDI.
- Contributing to external evaluations and internal reviews of the impact of the Fund, as required, for example through the provision of monitoring data, sourcing of Fellows for interview.
5. Fellowship Team
- As part of the Fellowship Team, contributing to the overall preparation and running of Connect and Inspire, the annual event for new Fellows, and the biennial Award Ceremony.
- Being a proactive and collaborative member of the team, providing support to colleagues where required during busy periods of the year and contributing to a culture of ongoing and open learning.
Person Specification
- Grant making experience with evidence of supporting the delivery of a selection process and/or managing a portfolio of grants.
- Experience of designing and delivering learning programmes, facilitating communities of practice and/or providing coaching/ mentoring to support individuals to achieve their potential.
- Experience of working with or supporting people with lived experience in a learning, project management or funding role. Desirable

We therefore operate a hybrid working policy, where staff can work from home if they wish, however everyone is required to work in the office for a minimum of 4 to 6 days a month with Tuesdays as the core day for regular whole team meetings and Thursday as an additional core day for Senior Leaders.

This role is essential in our drive for evidencing the impact of the work we do. You will lead and manage a large-scale, multi-organisation piece of research aiming to highlight the impact of our programmes. The Executive Assistant to the Chief Development Officer and the Director of Development (EA to CDO and DoD) will provide proactive senior-level support within a busy office and theatre environment.

The Role
The role of the Events team within Alpha International is to oversee the organising of Leadership Conference (LC) in-person, any events around Leadership Conference (including Donor events, Wednesday CEF event, Alpha Staff day, regional satellite events) and London-based Alpha events across the year (such as Alpha Collective and Experience Alpha).
This role is responsible for managing health and safety across the HTB sites, catering (crew, bloom café, Brompton road food vans and green rooms), internal deliveries and LC app, along with other LC related tasks.
The Key Responsibilities
Logistical arrangements:
o Development and execution of the events Day Plan. This is a minute-by-minute detailed plan that holds all the information of what will take place at the event
o Gathering technical and logistical requirements from speakers, stream leaders and internal departments; then negotiating this with the IT, Production, Vergers and Volunteers Teams or with an external venue or AV suppliers
o Determining catering requirements and caterer management
o Hiring of any additional venues as required and HTB site logistics
o Attending site visits (for external venues that might be used)
o Hiring of any additional equipment required for the event
o Liaising with the Production, IT, Verger, Worship team and all other internal departments
o Ensuring any legal and insurance tasks are thought about and in place for the event taking place
o Creating floor plans for the vergers to use
o Liaising on interpretation needs are met including BSL
o Liaising regarding speakers and associated tasks including contracts, gifts and accommodation
o Liaising and implementing programme decisions
o Developing and implementing new floor plans and layouts at events

Marketing and communications:

Staffing:

Registration and Ticketing:
o Oversight of the busy Leadership Conference inbox for guest queries
o Creating booking system for taking in person events registrations using an online event platform

o Oversight of IT equipment owned by team
o Granting access to systems
Safeguarding
o Linking in with the Safeguarding Lead if any safeguarding issues come up in the inboxes or at the event
Debrief
o Debrief to be done for different areas involved in
Leadership Conference Week Responsibilities
o Taking a lead role on several key packages assigned to this role
o Create and maintain comprehensive event documentation
o Writing papers on the different areas for senior management to review as and when is required
o Stay within the budget allocated and make adjustments to event constraints based on financial situation. Looking for ways to save money on all areas you look after
o Developing and implementing new and improved processes
o Holding the Alpha standard on communication in everything we do or send before, during or after the event
o Attend senior leadership meetings to provide updates as an when is required on your different areas
o Managing admin across the event, dealing with sign off, budgets and compiling post event reporting – to take learnings for next years event
o Looking at ways to improve LC year on year by researching competitor events and market knowledge

Job Description
This is an exciting and varied role, and we are looking for a proactive post holder who will manage three key aspects of CARA’s service provision:
- Manage new referrals into our service, overseeing the work of our team of First Contact Navigators and our Information and Referrals Co-ordinator.
- Manage our counselling waiting lists and the allocation of clients to a counsellor, overseeing the work of our Allocations Team.
- Act as the main lead and point of contact for managing CARA’s client database and resolving any data queries.
This role will lead a talented and committed team of six, supporting their work and assisting them to develop their key roles. As well as overseeing day-to-day operations of the team, the post holder will be part of CARA’s management team and will have the opportunity to play a key role in CARA’s wider development, working closely with CARA’s Senior Leadership Team and Team Managers.
The First Contact Navigator project is a shared project with our sister centres, SERICC and SOS Rape Crisis, so the post holder will liaise closely with colleagues in those centres.
Main Responsibilities
Line management and team support
· To line manage CARA’s Information and Referrals Co-ordinator, First Contact Navigators and Allocations Co-ordinators, providing day-to-day support, monitoring performance and identifying training and development needs. This will include keeping up to date notes of line management meetings and conducting and recording annual staff appraisals.
· To support CARA’s Information and Referrals Co-ordinator, First Contact Navigators and Allocations Co-ordinators, working alongside them where necessary, and covering these roles during annual leave and other absences.
· To work with CARA’s Head of Operations to recruit and train new staff and volunteers, as required.
· To liaise with CARA’s other teams and more widely with Synergy East teams, resolving problems and ensuring good communication and mutual understanding of respective roles and ways of operating.
· To be part of the CARA management team and attend regular management team meetings, contributing to CARA’s ongoing development.
Service development
· To work with CARA’s Information and Referrals Co-ordinator, First Contact Navigators, Allocations Co-ordinators, Head of Operations, CEO, and our four team Managers to refine and develop CARA’s referrals and allocations processes.
· To oversee and update CARA’s counselling waiting lists, working with the Allocations Co-ordinators, and leading regular meetings to review waiting times, pushing forwards actions to reduce these wherever possible.
· To oversee and update the CARA map of service delivery ensuring we have an accurate picture of client sessions across our therapy teams.
· To develop expertise in our purpose-designed client database, ensuring the team are fully trained in its use and working with the Senior Leadership Team and Synergy Partners to ensure client data is kept up to date.

· To work flexible hours, including some evening work and occasional weekends.

The Initiatives and Partnerships Manager plays a key role in the Trust’s Initiatives and Partnerships Team.
