In the past, High Net Worth Individuals (HNWI) have been managed reactively by the CEO and other Fundraising staff as opportunities have arisen. Ataxia UK (AUK) now wants to make a step change, in response to identified potential within the current fundraising landscape, towards strategic management of a pipeline of HNWI. Summary of the role:
The Community Fundraising Assistant (Ramadan Campaign) plays a crucial role during Ramadan. The role provides critical support in fundraising collections and events. The role will involve working occasional unsociable hours (weekends and evenings) and national travel, sometimes at short notice, during the Ramadan period to maximise our income generating opportunities.
About the Role:
- The main responsibilities of the role are lister below. Other tasks may be assigned on an ad hoc basis in support of our Ramadan fundraising activities.
- Attend mosques and Islamic institutions to collect donations and pledges in response to Muslim Aid’s appeals, supporting mosque collections through fundraising, data capture, and donor engagement.
- Set up and break down fundraising events, assisting with event setup, registration, and coordination across multiple venues.
- Provide administrative and logistical assistance before, during, and after events to ensure smooth and efficient delivery.
- Assist in the logistical coordination of Muslim Aid’s Live Appeals, helping to ensure all operational and support activities run effectively.
- Support and assist volunteers in running and managing fundraising activities, providing guidance and ensuring a positive experience for supporters.

This role is home-based with mobile working. Your home base needs to be in Wales (or close to the border - e.g. in Chester) as on a weekly basis you can expect to work across Wales to meet with supporters face to face approximately 2 to 3 days a week. As such, you must have a full UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle or the ability to travel frequently across the region.
There will be a requirement to attend in-person team meetings based in the area on a quarterly basis and other parts of the UK when our wider fundraising territory and department get together.
There will also be a requirement for flexible and out of hours working to support occasional evening and weekend activity and you will be compensated for this with time off in lieu.

What you will be doing:
You will be providing support and assistance to the Little Bridge House and Regional Fundraising teams. You will play a key part in supporting innovative digital campaigns, fundraising appeals and supporter engagement that brings our life-changing services to life. As well as supporting with our case story and imagery library.
We are looking for someone eager to start their career in fundraising in the charity sector, with relevant or transferable skills from copywriting, design and entry level data analysis. This person would be eager to learn all about fundraising from individual donors, how to create content to inspire support whilst remaining accountable and data informed, such as helping create content after analysing winning aspects of a campaign alongside the marketing and digital teams.

About the Role
The Events & Community Fundraising Manager is an integral part of our ambitious and forward-thinking Fundraising & Communications team.
This postholder will deliver The Connection at St Martin’s Events and Community Fundraising activity. They will line manage the Events & Community Fundraising Assistant, with a particular focus on their work on our annual Pilgrimage event. Our mission is "to support the physical health and mental wellbeing of local people living with Multiple Sclerosis", not just now but for the rest of their lives.
Our purpose-built Therapy Centre in Reading serves and strengthens the MS community across Berkshire and adjoining counties. We are a self-funded charity with no NHS or central government support and must raise £700,000 each year to operate.
